Great points. It’s a blessing to embrace that birthright and it should be done with great gratitude. I feel a little conflicted however when I think about people fighting back poverty, working multiple jobs to stay afloat. It is in these circumstances where rest feels like a luxury. Please create an episode on addressing this topic as well.
Thanks for your comment as that is a very important point. It can feel really conflicting when we talk about rest as a birthright, knowing that so many people are working multiple jobs or long hours just to survive. The reality is that our current economic system often makes rest feel like a luxury instead of a necessity, especially for those in poverty. I think this is exactly why the conversation around rest is so important. When we frame rest as a birthright, we're acknowledging that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, deserves the time and space to restore themselves. The system that makes rest feel unattainable for some is broken, and that’s what we need to challenge. Even small moments of rest-whether it’s a short nap, a moment of stillness, or simply a deep breath-can be revolutionary acts of self-preservation. The goal is not just about individual rest, but also about shifting our collective mindset toward valuing rest as a non-negotiable part of life for all people, not just the privileged. If I do a part two I’ll be sure to go more in depth so thank you 🫶🏽
