- A New York store clerk was arrested after stabbing a man in self-defense. It happened at a bodega in Harlem. Police say a young mom tried to buy a bag of chips for her daughter but her card was rejected. Her boyfriend came bursting into the store and shoved Jose Alba. Video shows Alba getting pummeled until he grabs a knife, fatally stabbing the man. Alba's bail was set at $250,000 until it was reduced to $50,000. He was released after spending six days on Rikers island.
This sickens me. How does an elderly man, who is defending his life and business get charged for murder.
He should have stayed in prison

I hope the family of the young thug ( I am not going to call him a man he was not one) has a heart and has the charges against the elderly man dropped. I could imagine the hell he went through being sent to Rikers Island for basically protecting himself, his staff, and his customers. Being arrested was sickening but being sent to Rikers was even worse. I think the gf should be arrested for instigating the entire ordeal. I have had my debit cards declined many times and never once had I done anything to have myself put away for a very long time. Having a card decline YES is embarrassing but you just have to suck it up and move on

It shouldn’t even matter if he’s elderly. The criminal assaulted him, and the fact is most would have been in fear for their life. The DA is an idiot if he thinks he’ll get a conviction on ANY charges with this case. If the DA pushes these charges forward, the people of NY should force him out of office as a consequence of his actions.

The age disparity is relevant in that it justifies the use of the knife to overcome the physical advantage the young thug brought to the threat.
Unfortunately, if the elderly man declines to have a jury out of fear the DA absolutely could get a conviction with the right judge. And even if he doesn’t get a conviction the DA has financially ruined this man’s life. He probably already had to put his house down as collateral for his bail money or got a second mortgage. And he’ll have to pay for his defense attorney. He’s still working at his age so probably isn’t financially privileged. This will destroy his retirement and he will likely end up in the care of the state.
This is the result of a woke DA who let's criminals walk after committing actual crimes, and then locks up innocent victims just trying to survive! Unbelievable..........

The store clerk did exactly the right thing and I'm afraid the criminal got what he fully deserved. I mean how on earth did the criminal become the victim. If you decide to go down the path of criminal activity (including threatening someone like that by invading/cornering their personal space then expect the potential risk of the outcome of death or serious harm done to you. Otherwise everyone who aren't happy with their bag of chips have the right to do behave in such an aggressive threatening manner without serious consequence and with the knowledge that no one can harm them - I mean what kind of a deterrence is that.
