I am 22 and this year was my first full season of my own business. Last year, I went full time in June, made decent progress and was happy with where I was. This year I grossed 70k with no commercial contracts and am aiming to land a couple commercial sites this upcoming year. Watching your videos and watching the young bucks you featured who are doing great things drives me to work harder and smarter. I’ve had zero financial help and was able to buy a new truck, trailer, and a 16foot/ 3 foot wall dump trailer. Hard work is the answer and I wish everyone the best! God bless!
I have mowed as a side hustle since 2010. 2022 was my first year full time. My only regret is I didn't go full time sooner. You can make good money mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and light tree work. Set your minimum price and don't budge $1....And you WILL make money.
We just finished upgrading our rig to two axle to move more water for clients with poor wells and and do commercial work. I have a 6x10 that was gona sit and I’m really wondering about buying a walk behind mower and winging it for the year. I’ve been seeing used stuff for between 750 and 1000. I was terminated from healthcare after company changed hands and I don’t wana go back, just want to fill up my week and never look back
I started my lawn care business about 5 years ago and learned a lot from you. I will be 72 in 2024 and am looking to expand to two rigs and hire a leader/ foreman so thanks for all of your advise. Merry Christmas!
This was such a good perspective, Brian. I'm going to do a follow up video, because I've literally had the same conversation with a few folks recently. Some folks still want to shortcut the shortcut.
Everyone listen to this guy! I’m 4.5 years or 5 seasons in, there is no quick way or easier way then simply hard work! I’ve watched almost all of Brian’s you tube videos most of the podcast and been to LAL once. Just follow the path everyone before you me and Brian has laid down. With the help of social media, some good business decisions and a whole lot of hard work you can iron out a 100k or more business in less than 5 years. I’ve done it, my buddies have done it, and so can you! Keep up the good work Brian 🫡
I was struggling to collect payment and i watched Brians episode on “charge card on file system” and it was a complete heel/toe transformation of how i handle that portion of my business. This is my 3rd season coming up and im still 100 percent struggling but went from 3k first season to 30k second. I managed to get a bookkeeper late last season and struggling to get better equipment but on the up and up. Thanks Brian for your advice and great content! Ive learned so much from your channel over the last 3 years!!!
I can't say because I haven't seen anyone else pop up like you do.. But I feel like you are at the forefront of lawn care, at least with the format you're on! Augusta is of course doing amazing, but they're a franchise. For the everyday LLC family man, YOU are THAT GUY! Thank you for what you do!!!
Brian this was another insightful video. That is one reason that I am so happy to have found you when I first started out in this business. You have given me much insight as to the road I need to follow to be successful. Imagine starting out in this business at the age of 62. I will be 67 this coming April looking to continue to mow until I am 70. Looking to get another contract with the city in which I live to get another district to mow in 2024. That will give me two areas of town that I will be maintaining the lawns and right of ways. The city contracted out lawn care 3 years ago. I am not on Facebook so I feel that I am missing out trying to get into the community. I will get in don't you worry.
I’m just trying to do this for a side hustle. 10-15 lawns after work 3-4 days a week. I’m transitioning out of the army in 2 years and just looking for something to make extra cheese for winter trips. I do plan on getting a commercial 36 stand on to start.
Brian, I have some points of interest concerning this video. You are talking about re-inventing the wheel. As you know I am dealing with a broken foot. I have personally shared with you the struggles I am going through. When you talk about people trying to re-invent the wheel or not using sources that are out there or when people are trying to do it their way instead of a proven way, I think that there is a big obstacle in the way. I have learned about this obstacle with what I am going through and not being able to walk at this time because of a broken foot. The biggest obstacle that people face and the biggest obstacle that people have to accept and have to let go of is this. The biggest obstacle is THEMSELVES.I have had to make hard decisions with this broken foot, and I have realized that the hardest part of the decision I have to make is ME. I am thankful for a pastor that has been counseling me and making me realize things I have to deal with. So, when you talk to people who are trying to re-invent the wheel or not using things that are out there or are doing it their way. Think in the back of your head this, are they trying to re-invent the wheel or is the real obstacle THEMSELVES? I cannot answer that question, but it is a question to think about. Also, you talked about a dead horse. I talked to your mother about this 5 years ago. You need to go and watch The Godfather. You will fall in love with the movie. It is a great movie for showing power plays, running a business and it is great overall. After you watch the movie watch the reviews on RUclips about the movie and it will go deeper into the movie.

Great video, thanks for sharing!!! My son is in high school and wants to start his own lawn care business. Should he invest in liability insurance? If so, do you have a favorite company that you like?
100% if he gets over 4-5 lawns and starts to make a go of it. It's pretty nominal but provides huge peace of mind! Check out our book on Amazon Zero To $100k! Great read for him if he's just getting going.
