First one I came across that mutes when saying Alexa, worth subscribing for that.

Bummer! My Show 8 is being delivered tomorrow from my Prime Day purchase. Very disappointing:( So I wonder what feature on the 8 is going to make up for the lack of the customization abilities?
@@la196 The only time it shows the clock full screen is 10 minutes before my scheduled alarm goes off. After that, it goes back to being in the corner.

i contacted Amazon to put forward the idea of being able to fully customize all echo shows - they said they would pass the suggestion on - maybe if lots of people did this they would listen and give us the updates?

After spending a couple of hours trying find information on why I couldn't format my clock face, I finally found your video, and you immediately addressed my concern. So glad I got my other half an Show 5 just for the clock function.
I was very disappointed when my echo show 8 arrived without all the features that are available on the 5. What is Amazon thinking, when you pay more you normally get more, not less. Totally agree that they need to sort this and many other issues out.
Amazon, Gaurd mode needs to come to the UK also.

Hi I cannot get my photos to fill the whole screen. A couple do but the rest are just the photo in the middle with blurry sides . I’m using Amazon photos. TIA

Echo a show 5; I’ve set my background up as an album, but it just stops on the last photo in that album. Is there a way to loop so it always changes (random order change)? Nice dog pics btw!

Thanks for the info! I just boxed up and returned the Echo Show 8 to exchange for the old Echo 5 - 1st Gen only because I want to change the clock face and determine how the clock digital numbers should show. Unreal that Amazon removed that functionality in the newer models. At least I get to save $100... Also, my black Echo 8 that they sent me came with a white power cord. Really??? It's those little details Amazon...

I have an echo show 8 and don’t mind the small clock in the top left corner, but the large numbers that show up on the bottom left corner obstruct my photos... anyway to delete the larger time? I’ve tried everything.
I have just got my Eco Show 8, every time I now go onto the home screen background setting on my device in the Alexa app, it comes up with that the settings could not be loaded, saying it could be offline (which it isn’t) or awaiting an update (which it doesn’t)

I wanted a device that I could display calendar events on the home screen 24/7 and also one that could tell you when birthdays are. Instead the calendar is hidden in a side swipe wigget screen. When I ask about birthdays listed in my calendar, it searches the web for celebrities that have the same name. Very disappointed with the lack of basic customization.

I’m pissed that the Echo Show 8 clock face cant be adjusted. I was stuck between the 5 & 8 and didn’t think it would be a restriction. I wanted a seamless look and the clock face in my living room mattered to me.
What did you end up going for? I’m mainly needing a bedside clock unit but I also like watching some vids and stuff beforehand so the 8 was tempting...

On doing nothing - i only want photos - echo show 5- it does that - but in between it’s show things like weather tips etc - can i stop that and JUST have the pix ??

Just got my echo 5 and when I ask alexa to change my clock face she tells me to select a face but the screen doesn't come up with the options. Under clock, I don't have an option to change it.
Can you have the photos shuffle on the screen, or do they play in order?

I have the Echo Show 5 and notice that some of your photos occupy full screen whereas, like mine, your single upload only occupies the middle of the screen with a blur either side. How do you get a photo to occupy the full screen?

Hi Simon I’ve figured out this issue . This is what I did . I made an album from my iPhone photos (called Alexa) I edited each photo to 16.9 landscape . I then added this album to the Alexa app and all my photos now fill the whole screen . I hope this helps.
Echo show 5 is connected to Facebook, but I can't see where to change which photo albums it's picking.
I have the Echo Show 2nd generation, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change the speed of my picture slideshow. Any clue if this is even possible? I know it was on older versions

I would want all customization options across the board with every device and it's a simple update I'm guessing so I'm hoping that eventually it'll come to all devices

My echo show 5 defaults to a blue wavy background when u select photos as clock. Very rarely shuffles photos.
How to keep the screen on to what you are playing or watching, mine keeps going to the blank time screen within 1 minute ?
Regarding my amazon photos, i also have videos...will these also play on the Echo home screen?
yes. i've added my favourite music videos to my amazon photo storage and when I ask Alexa to play my photos, this includes my music videos - it works quite well, but you seem to need to tap on the screen as each video is displayed in order to hear the music and see the full video - otherwise it passes quickly onto the next photo or video

I don’t want it to show photos I want to see the home screen with the weather always.. I went into home content and turned everything but weather off. After saving, the home screen changes to show weather but then after 10 seconds goes into the slideshow and I can’t get it to show the home screen with weather again
I WANT THE ECHO 8 to SHOW THE DAY OF THE WEEK AND THE DAY OF THE MONTH! I bought one for my 90-year old mom who does not talk to Alexa well! I am so mad that it won't do this!
I bought a echo 8 show for my 87 year old mom. I typed on a piece of paper what things she needed to do with Alexa. What to say when she wants to video call anyone in the family. She is finally understanding what she needs to do, being working great for her.

I started adding photos when my knuckle touched the screen and it went to a blank screen and when I tried to go back to continue, it no longer allowed me to add anything. Now I have ZERO photos. How can I get back to setting it up?

I have an Echo, and its just impossible to upload photos from my iphone, never mind from Amazon's cloud. Been trying all day. All the YT videos are different, but make no sense with my software. I give up and am going to throw my 2 x echos away after first putting a hammer to them. What a carry on. Great video and well presented though.
Uploaded the amazon photo app. but there was no allow or deny choice for Amazon to upload all all my photos or not. It was just purely allow. Anybody else had this issue?
the frustrations I'm getting with the Echo show 8 are.. horrible.. the lack of features for custom stuff.. and it doesn't even listen to its own settings.. I've put it to cycle through pics every 24 seconds.. it STILL does it every 12..

Delores McEachern you can. Absolutely for free as well. You don’t need a phone near by either. It’s awesome and it sounds great. Hopefully one day we can receive calls lol. Get yourself smart bulbs you can make some awesome routines.

I should be able from m PC, using the Alexa app, or Amazon Photos apps on m PC and create Folders/Albums and drag and drop the photos I want to use. Or connect to m NAS or via the micro USB an external drive with the photos I want to use. This would be like any digital Photo Frame. This is so clunky
