Great video! Really liked at the end as well with the monos and that beautiful coastal scenery. What a spot to ride 👌. I love the 24’s and 26’s so we can relive our childhood. Some of the best years of our lives. See ya mum, I’ll be home for dinner!
@@jimfielding171 endless memories of happier times in this world. I love that I have two boys who are now obsessed with bikes as well. It’s very special as a dad to spend time with them.
Wow another RedLine I really want. I wish RedLine sold their bmx cruisers in Canada. I have to find a way to get one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg in border fees. It has everything I am looking for: 27.5, mech. disc brakes, single speed.
I believe they are but you could drill out the rim to fit a schrader stem if you really wanted them. Getting the tires off the rim bead is fun. Enjoy your new ride!
@@jimfielding171 I know that if gumwall tires are over inflated or not properly remounted they can blow like 🎈 🎈. I also got CREW and a Mongoose Terrex so various configurations.
Yeah the 27.5” will fit you well. My SQB-26” fits me well too but the RL is perfect for cruising. It’s like a big BMX mountain bike. If I’m going to hit dirt jumps than I prefer the smaller 26” bike. I’ve got a 24” redline too but it just feels real small now compared to my other big BMXer’s. Good luck and enjoy!
Nice. I am from 80s BMX racing and riding, do the really wide tires slow you down? Back in the day I ran 1.5 or 1.75 I think, could have been 1.25 that was a long time ago...lol
The SQB-26 has the better seat. It’s cushioned rather than plastic on the PL. The only other real difference is the frame, alloy or chromoly. The aluminum frame on the SQB is stiff. Not sure how the PL frame compares to the SBQ. I only have a PL-24 from the 90’s, not a 26. Hope this helps!
Stupid question, but I was born in the 80’ and raised in the 90’s. I want a bigger BMX style bike to cruise to work… not to do any tricks or jumps or wheelies or anything. Would it be stupid for me to cruise around on this for my 1 mile round trip commute?
I went with Tioga 2.125” which are the same size as what comes on the SQB-26. I’m happy with them. Hookworms 2.5” would work well too. Get some taller bars as well. Thanks!
@@jimfielding171 A lot of the wheelie guys ride the Hookworms, and I saw your wheelies at the end. They are slimmer than a lot of people think. They say 2.5, but they're just barely wider than my Kenda 2.1s. Cheers
Well for me, I'm pretty tall so I need the seat up so my legs are stretched out a bit. This is just a road cruiser anyway so I like a relaxed setup. I did get taller bars for it.
Great to see another adult exploring the big bikes. I grew up lusting after the MX-II.

I wish the RL20's werent so expensive these days. This 275 looks great. Might add to stable.
It's now my favorite ride after I replaced the tires and bars.
I'm 6'3" & thinking about getting one of these. Always wanted the RL20 back in the day. How's the frame geometry for doing some basic flatland tricks?
@@GenXcollector seems fine but you’ll need different tires and bars for sure. It’s the perfect size for us tall guys 😎
@@jimfielding171 yeah, I'd planned on taller bars. Thanks for the heads up on the tires.

Nice review I’m also 6’3 what bars did you go with and what rise? Looking at the S&M Fu bars but can’t decide
Thanks. I went with the GT Original 4-Piece Bars (Black) (9.125" Rise) (29" Width) for both of my Redlines
I like it💯👍
Dear Jim, What tire thickness do you recommend for a 27.5 Inch tire BMX bike for a 5.97113 foot tall person who weighs 220.4 lbs?
I ended up going with the Tioga FS100 2.125” tires. You could go 2.5” too if you wanted a little wider.
@@jimfielding171 Thank You Jim. How about a 27.5 Inch, 3" Inch thick tire?
Nice Big BMX bike, I just ordered the Gloss Orange 🍊 one, are Presta valves standard? Prefer Schrader because of big fingers 😀

Yes they do! I've shelved the 3.0's for Tioga 2.125's and the bike now rolls much faster. Looks a lot better too with all black tires.
Iv been looking into the sqb 29 and the rl 275 just not sure which to get and will fit me better I'm 5 8 175 lb
You mean the SBQ 26”? I think the 26” would be better for you at 5’-8”. All depends on how you plan to use it

Would you still go with the 26
That thing is slick. Is the gearing setup like bmx?
The gearing ratio seems like a standard bmx setup. But looks wise the front and rear sprocket are smaller than on my SQB-26”. They crank very similar.
Which do you like better, 26" or 27.5?
Which one is easier to wheelie??
