      I just got back from playa del carmen. The prices are very high if you want souvenirs are very expensive. Some guy tried to sell me a religious souvenir for 795.00 pesos, I found it at the airport for 150 pesos. When they sell you things on 5th Ave. they will tell you anything to sell it to you at a high price.

    • @ForTheRoadTravels
      @ForTheRoadTravels  2 года назад +3

      @@MexicoTijuana741 Hola Eddie 👋👋
      We are sad to hear that 😔, unfortunately, the 5th avenue vendors have set up their own prices, and as you say they will make some stories to sell their own stuff when they are getting a profit even higher than 100% of the actual cost of the souvenir sometimes they get all their merchandise from rural towns where they pay peanuts for it and sell it to exorbitant prices. Despite that, we hope you have had an amazing time in PDC. Thank you for watching and commenting.
      BTW: My name is also Eddie (Geovanny). 🤙 Saludos amigo 🤗🇲🇽

      Thank you very much for watching and commenting on our video, this really means the world to us 🌎🙏
      We like the 5th as well, but we also do not find it very pleasant when people are offering drugs as if they were selling candies, sometimes we feel even harassed by their approach, but unfortunately seems like a common thing in PDC 5th Ave. You just have to ignore and enjoy the rest of it.
      We are glad you had a great time with your family, and we hope you had the chance to visit some other places around. Again thank you for watching and we send you great vibes from PDC 🌊 🇲🇽

    here's one. the hotels in the area give you a wrist band when you check in. when walking down 5th, a local person will say 'hey remember me from Hilton? I was you waiter / bartender or whatever. They only pay me $5 a day at the hilton, so i have to work out here on my day off, come to family jewelry shop and take a look."

      You must be counting down the days ⏰. We are glad our video is helping you to plan your trip to Playa del Carmen (we have actually made a recent video on PDC is a full guide with tips & recommendations). Actually "La Playita Caribeña" is located inside the Municipal Market of Playa del Carmen, last time we had a meal at the Market this particular restaurant was closed, but we not sure if it was closed for good, or the just took the day 🤔. Nevertheless, there are other restaurant with similar food at the same market and it's just a block away from the 5th Avenue.

    i absolutely love mexico. its beautiful and so fun and rich with life. Ive been a few times but my most recent time was definitely a lesson to learn, Maybe it was the fact that cozumel is a tourist island but the moment we got off our cruise ship, we were basically barked at to spend money. no matter what we said or if we walked to the next shop, shop workers would follow us from place to place trying to get us to come buy something. Im aware and empathetic to the circumstances of covid and just how badly it affected tourist areas (we spent every dollar we had on souvenirs and food from places owned by locals not corporations), but we felt like cattle being herded around and told what to do. we still had a great time and will definitely be back, but just because i am a tourist does not mean i should be cornered and intimidated into buying random tourist goods, ESPECIALLY JEWELRY.

      Hola Jordan, ¿Cómo estás? 🤭
      Yes, definitely Mexico, is more than what press or media portraits; most of the time it's bad side 😢. We totally understand and can be somehow frustrating being followed even when you said: _*No, Gracias*_, so many times but we also are emphatic with them, and as well as you we do our best always to support the local vendors when we know there is no middle man, and most of the profits would go straight to the families impacting their own pockets. Exactly, sometimes you feel like being forced to buy them, and sometimes they make some stories (which is a bad business practice) just to buy them whatever they get the most profit from.
      Thank you so much for sharing your experience, if something we always want with our videos is sharing helpful tips and recommendations to other travelers, so they can have a better idea before they visit the places, and of course, hear the experiences from people like you to know better 🥰.
      Thank you for watching, and commenting; this really helps us out in our channel 🙏. Saludos desde Playa del Carmen 🌴🇲🇽

      Hola Nicolene 🙋🏻‍♀️😃 we really think it’s important to not sugar coat things because people need to know before they land up in a destination that may be disappointing 🤭 to be honest, I (Simone) would be open to traveling here solo - most of Mexico is perfectly safe for women, just with a little extra precaution (I wouldn’t walk alone after dark). There are actually quite a few Facebook pages for the different parts of Mexico and this question is asked frequently and people always have valuable insight into which areas are best to avoid 🙌🏼🇲🇽 the little towns are wonderful- it’s just more the biggest cities like Cancun to be wary of 😊😊

      Well is hard to say sargassum arrive daily by tons despite the government efforts to get rid of it is hardly impossible 😔 but would be matter of time to have the beaches as nice as they usually are. We do not know by first hand but as far as we have heard Isla Mujeres has not been affected by this phenomenon. Thank you for watching 👀📺🤗🇲🇽

      Entendemos y nos da mucha tristeza que hayan tenido que dejar todo por la inseguridad que se ha incrementado en la ciudad. Esperamos que donde quieran que se encuentren, estén felices, esperamos que PDC vuelva a ser un lugar tranquilo, no podemos decir que vuela a ser como era antes porque eso nunca pasará, pero tenemos la fé, que las cosas se calmen porque es un lugar muy bonito. Thank you for watching and commenting.
      It's really hard to say as sargassum is very unpredictable, as of December 2022 last time went to the beach area there was a minimum amount of this type of seaweed at the shoreline.
      There's a Facebook page called: *_Sargassumm and Seaweed Riviera Maya_* , where you find updates on how the sea is looking like on almost day to day basis from local and tourist who visit the beaches in the area.

    Hi Guys, great Video. Do you guys know any good places to exchange dollars to Mex Pesos at a good rate?,... Blessings..

    • @ForTheRoadTravels
      @ForTheRoadTravels  3 года назад

      Hola Alex🙋🏻‍♀️😁 thank you for watching, we’re so glad you enjoyed the video 🙋🏻‍♀️ there is a place called Elektra, which is a furniture/electronic store, but if you walk to the back end or upstairs of the store (depending on location), you’ll find their money exchange services😊 the closest one to the 5th would be located at Avenida 30 esq, Calle 2 Nte S/N, Centro. We always exchange there and their rates are some of the best. You would need your passport and you can only exchange $300 per day😌 Alternatively, if you need cash quick, you can purchase something at any Oxxo (there are a million of them) in USD and they will give you pesos in return (usually for a pretty decent rate) but I think you have to purchase something to the value of 50% of the total amount of USD you give them, not exactly sure on that😊 we hope you have a great time in Playa 🌴🙌🏼🇲🇽 Saludos desde Mexico 😊

      Hola Jason☺️☺️ Playita Caribeña falls within the municipal market, so if you search ‘mercado municipal’, google should pull it up and if you ask any of the locals at the market they should point you in the right direction 🙌☺️ hopefully that helps! Enjoy your time in PDC 🇲🇽☺️

      Really, that's very odd, when we went, we saw even more foreigners than locals eating there, perhaps they were closing shortly? Hopefully, you were able to find a nice place to eat, but if we can recommend a place for some nice Mexican tacos, you should try Taquerias el Fogon or El Nero (we have a video on both places). Anyway, we hope you have an amazing time here in PDC. Sending you great vibes 🤗

      Hola Ismael 👋🏽👋🏽
      If you stay in a hotel who does exchange currency probably is the best option, they usually get you a better rate than the actual one it is a the time 💰💵. Otherwise, there is an store called Elecktra which gives better rates than the bank; and typically at the banks you would need be a cardholder in order to make currency exchange but with Elecktra with your passport is enough and they change $300USD per day per person.
