Love this! I've seen some people create beautiful things with DVD and cds. This is my favorite and safest thing I've seen so far.

The CDs are much easier to cut if you heat them with a hair dryer or dip them in hot water.The plastic won't be so brittle.

I've seen someone make a "magic mirror pendent" with a cd but they used a microwave to do it. (I kid you not, they have it written in the instructions) but it was "magically lucky" they were alive from doing so since we know how explosive that combo is.
They did so to get a broken glass mosaic effect on the project but I like your safer solution better.
Love the holo cleverly designed and thought of wings! Love the recycling and reused of the cds

I tried using needle and lighter for the hole, like you suggested. I had trouble with it, so instead, I ended up using a hammer and nail. It worked pretty well.
Maybe use a mini drill for the hole. That will be even easier i think. Go to a supply store. I went to a place called Harbor Freights, and they carry mini drills for less than 20 bucks and it comes with many different sized drill bits for drilling holes with, as well as many different sized sanders for sanding down rough surfaces.
When I clicked the video I thought I can't make such a beautiful earring by myself,, cuz I don't have enough ingredients,,, but hey! I never thought CD could be so useful!!! Its just amazing

I’ve never had any cd come apart very easily, however I’ve not seen them being bent back and forth, will give it a go. Thanks for tip.
If you have one of those little solder/woodburner things, I think that would be easy to use for putting the hole in it. The solder tip is very pointy like a needle would be, but would keep you from burning your fingers.
Only older cds come apart like this. So many tutorials make it look easy, and you end up ruining the cd, or your hands. I would just use acetone to get the paint side off and use the cd as is.

the only thing is i don't get how you cut the cds to make the pair. There are approx 30 girls age 9 - 11 and would like them to feel good about making the majority. is it possible for u to help me?
Since I removed one of the layers of the Cds they weren't too thick. I started by cutting first straight. To end up with a rectangular shape only. That way while you cut the shape out you don't cut yourself with the rest of it.

I hope my info helps some of you, but after many attempts and a lot $ spent here's what works perfect every time! Use dvd's not cd's...if you have long natural nails, you can run your nail along the dvd and they'll easily separate! Also, hold a fork or something with a metal point over a flame to pierce a hole thru the dvd!

Hi. A beautiful tutorial but I am struggling to release the film on the piece of CD that I cut off. I've tried being gentle when flexing the shard of CD and also trying to go a bit more intense but it always seems to break. Any tips on getting the film off please so I can give this project a go please.ThanksCarol

i saw a few other videos, it says to heat the cd's by placing in boiling hot water for 5 mins or with a hair dryer

will the nail polish rub off easily?
Nope^^ The only way it might come off is if you rub something really sharp against it or if you use nail polish remover. Also if you apply a coat of clear nail polish on top of it. ^^ Hope it helps(:
