No, this is a legitimate Bandai product. Before the entry trade we have today Bandai tried a couple times to make an “entry grade” kit and I’m assuming this is one of those. I’m also pretty sure that this kit is a convention exclusive

You're right about the "old product." It's an old eg, caravan kit. Designed mostly to train your panel lining and painting skills. It's more like the paint base version of standArt. Not really an action figure.
