One of the greatest voices the UK has ever produced and so under appreciated too, I love how grounded and down to earth she has remained too despite her relative successes. Not even a hint of an ego!
She is a real star and in spite of that she is so down-to-earth, so in touch with realty and so modest to boot.
John Conway Hi John during the mid 90's I used to service their swimming pool, no it wasn't one of these awful ostentatious monstrosities it was a 12x24 buster crabbe pools that came with their home l would call once a week to carry out my work and as I would walk past the kitchen Alison would call out "Hiya John kettle is on" she made a blinding cup of tea, we would sit on the steps and chat about everything and nothing Alison was such a beautiful person who was kind, caring & generous with her time, it was a great time of my life even though it was over 22 years ago! I can remember it as if it were yesterday always puts a smile on my face

I was in the thick of the music business for a few years. There were only about three people who matched her strength and humility in all the thousands of musicians I met. Quite a rare person I think. Very moved. Very moved.

She is one of the best British singers ever. Loved her voice in the 80s and still sounding fantastic in 2023.

Hi fatwalletboy2, Exactly! She always speaks so succinctly about herself and the music world that she lives in, that you get the impression that she is someone, `that just lives down the road, from where you live`...There is an honesty about the woman, that makes you like and appreciate what she does. The 1980`s...the decade before it all started to terribly wrong ( barring the Brit Pop Era, of the 1990`s...Mostly)!
This girl knows how to sing a song. Remember as one of the great deliverers of a voice. When she sings Love Letters it's her timing. Doesn't trash known songs with an unruly brand of vocal gymnastics. Sings with importance of how those writers meant the song to be sung. So refreshing to hear a non-fake powerful woman. She should join travelling oldies bands, artists. People remember those numbers & her beautiful command of a song & voice.
