To me, I think the lighting is actually the most inspiring thing about this.
I myself tend to obsess over trying to fully light-up every area and fill every black space. But your vault looks great because it embraces the interplay of light and shadow... and color!

Agreed. I've tried to realize that lighting is supposed to enhance an area but I always end up trying to make it as well lit as possible. Especially when it comes to things like power armor displays. A dark spot with your VIM power armor lit up by the display only makes it look great.

After watching a view of these builds I am seriously considering hosting a party for Super Mutant Suiciders in my Vault 8-(
and re-live the nightmare of the Fallout 1 super mutant ending.

This makes my Vault 88 look link a two man bunker by comparison. Gonna take some inspiration from this and start over.
Amazing. All I know to know is how in the blue hell you managed to build in the tunnels. I swear, I can't never get anything to fit down in them.

Oh he used mods for sure but just for unlimited materials to build :)
And unlimited item placement. I have like a quarter of the stuff built here in mine and I'm not able to build anything else.
@@levijetkins7423 he probably used a mod To put the shops in the vault Windows... It wouldn't work otherwise and there are mods on ps4 I just never used them because of the trophies.
The atrium reminded me of Rivet City for some reason
I love how you kept it lore friendly and made it feel like it's a lived in vault though I'd have built a sole survivors pimped out pad in one section of the vault, maybe that's just me. XD
Fantastic. I've started on the Atrium and going from there. Just struggle with the doors and other pieces not locking in together.
patience is a must with this build, lots of moving things around and reclipping them over other things.

The rooms built within the rocks looks great as airbnb lol I imagine like in Fallout 3 settlements had taverns/hotels for random wanderers who can pay to stay

I like that hubworld style build, reminds me of the old 2D fallouts

Working on an exact replica as we speak, I'm starting with the basic building layout and filling it in from there. I must say sir, you had me laughing with a few of the tricks I had to do lmao I'm having so much fun with it!! for anyone that has the patience and drive, its easy, it really is. And it a fun little game for myself to see if i can do it haha I have completely replicated this vault and added some things just by skimming through the video. He does a very good job of showing everything he used, as long as you know your inventory, you'll know what you need. I started at the entrance to the atrium and worked my way around. After the Atrium you HAVE to do the bottom levels before you go up top. it will not work. I Almost have the building completed, at roughly 10 hours build time. after i finish this, I'm going topside to Vault up the wasteland!! haha I've been wanting these abilities since Fallout 3... I am GIDDY that i can finally build my own vault, that i don't have to be JUST underground, and that it wasn't a pre-built modular system. we have so many options!! THANK YOU for giving me inspiration and joy again through this build!! :D I appreciate your work so much dude!! There are guys like WertyPerty that build these crazy monstrocity settlements, I find them to be incredible and impressive, but a bit overwhelming to duplicate. your work is clean, and methodical. i appreciate the aspects of OCD and the curveballs that gets thrown in there ;D Figuring out the Cafe was my first WTF moment hahaha those walls bro, those walls hahaha I have ONE wall in there that wont cooperate, trying to figure out why it wont clip. I have the exact same layout, but it just wont snap in!! GRRRR anyway!! FANTASTIC work my good sir!! Do you plan on expanding yet? I run PC so I don't really have to worry about FPS drop or glitches as often. Haven't even hit the build limit yet and I'm like 5 min away from completing the reactor room... that's a looootttt of decor you got friend hahahahahhaha --Peace and Chicken Grease!!

Just started the Vault stuff recently and tried to make a giant 4-5 story vault Atrium getting frustrated with Atrium roofs and elevators and moving settlers around, then I see this and want to just scrap the whole thing and start over again with something half the size so it can be as nice as this one.
And you chosen the right melody for this. Usually I rarely say this. But this is... Perfection! 👌
Well I'm 5 years late but I always love playing fallout and just building settlements for the Commonwealth. I'm got so many areas and several modded ones but really needed a home base that was low frames and vault 88 was perfect. Ive done this many times before and struggled to build a vault I was proud of. I took dozens of screenshots in the video to capture the dimensions of the walls and floor tiles (big help for others btw) and loved the layout you made especially the stores!!! I ended up getting creative with the residential area to add my own style and have used modded furniture items. Absolutely awesome build and this save file will be kept for years to come. I like how the nursery has bottles with glowing radioactive liquid hanging over the cribs.

i am impressed in more then one way, especaly since i got a sense for the ammount of time the preparations for that sattlement took.
I'm not planning to do a classic vault, I'm more inclined to make Vault 88 an underground city with streets and buildings. But this classic vault is awesome.
avrorik369 I went vault in the main cave and one of the connecting caves but went city in the subway with the rest of the place. It makes sense that people would have migrated until the subways and why couldn't they trade with a vault they ran into...
Amazing ideas and execution. Not that I could replicate this, but if I tried, how do you stay within the settlement size meter?
You can increase the build limit by dropping weapons on the ground from your inventory (while in the build area), and then storing them in the workshop while in workshop mode.

Hey, I was just wondering how you provided light for the entire settlement. I found that some areas didn't have electricity even when I placed a power conduit. I have one super reactor, do I need to build another one? Thanks.

P.S: I think it would be beyond hilarious if at 16:28 when you're showing off the backroom of the screening area, instead of a bed you had like a black couch. You know to "screen" potential dwellers.. Or more precisely, to "cast" dweller-ettes, non-ghoul ones and preferably with experience in operating "heavy machinery". Come to think of it, the bed can do the job too. Damn.. Single life's a hell.
I really like how you felt sorry for the residents with cave walls coming into their room so you made those rooms larger, with a personal ensuit. Overall an amazing vault, it really sets the standard for what others should be trying to accomplish

Seeing those electrical light writings 'n blue lightbulbs and stuff I strongly doubt the "no mods" statement especially when looking at how close you managed to build some of the upper level walks

If they just give us OCdecorator and place anywhere when mods finally hit, it would make our builds so much better looking. This is an awesome build. just needs a bit of clutter and filled shelves.

mod that lets you control and snap items in place on objects like books and toys, knicknacks etc
tenjek OCDecorator would melt a console. Its all piles of tons of small meshes.
I don't know if it's still abailable but I grabbed of decorator and do it yourshelf on Xbox
this is absolutely amazing , definitely going to try something as detailed as this. hands down the best I've seen
nicely done, i have just begun to plan for vault 88 build. I notice there is another entrance from university point but i didn't sees that in your vault build. I would recommend that you do audio while giving a tour so we are aware which piece of building material and tab to look for etc. Also i would recommend some decoration using junks etc but i know its extremely time consuming. All my settlements i did that junk decorations which is hell but the end result is very satisfying, don't feel that empty when you have glass, vodka, newspaper etc around.

Absolutely love this settlement, I'm currently working on building this place up myself. Your lighting is brilliant throughout and I like how you have kept a lot of dark sections instead of trying to light the whole place up. The inside almost feels like your walking around the inside of a spaceship in some sections, its looks very busy and alive, great work :)

I want to put a armory in my Vault, that will be inspired by Iron Man's armory in the movies, where he creates the Iron Legion. Im gonna use it to showcase all my power armors. Cool Vault btw!

Okay, this vault is amazing! The one thing I really want to understand is how he made the bathroom stalls with the doors that open and close. I have been trying to figure out how to do that for awhile, now!

The only thing about this vault pack that bothers me, is the steel lines around the floors, I want a nice smooth floor, not cube tile everywhere. Other than that the vault pack is pretty cool. The npcs are dumb, but the settlement building options are good
Damn reminds me of my old settelment on xbox one before i went to pc, ezcept that one was on that big island. It was an unpenetrable fort with alot of detail, all i needed was to add living quaters

I'm not judging you one what console you used to create this settlement but, if you had built this settlement on xbox one using very few mods such as "do it yourshelf" or "OC Decorator" you could have made the Tailor and the General Store shelves look more... I think stocked is the right word. lol idk but it was just a thought

Can I also ask how you got more settlers? I only have about 3! It sucks. Do you move them there from other settlements?
I did move a few settlers there, but most of them just showed up on their own. Make sure the settlement recruitment radio broadcast is on.
Ever thought of releasing any floor plans or how to's or anything like that? Really have no freaking idea on how I want my vault.
