have my subscribe, have my like, you're a maniac for this trip, it was awesome, would love to see a full video commentary on this, cuz that was amazing, and looked insanely dangerous at the start. well done man, you a ledge.
Inspirational, and in the dark too, Ha ha ha, brilliant. Gona spank the Great Ouse this year for sure but not to the sea as it gets too boring once you reach the fens. Well done!
Great! Love things like that. And I love the brown water, we've that here also in the Eifel/Ardennes, the lttle mountain region between Belgium and Germany. But usally there's only water in winter, very rarely after heavy rainfalls the other time of the year.
No safety belts were used in the making of this most adventurous and brilliant film, one man and his Kayak heading down into Liffey weather below. If the great Phil Lynett was still around, he would have written and sand a song about this adventuring man and his beautiful sister Emma.
Congrats man, this seems like a lot of fun even if you’re getting soaking wet the whole time. Would not want to flip over near one of those rocks though!
That looks like lots of fun - water all the way! We're doing a source-to-sea of the Brisbane River in Australia. First 100Km is by foot, the recent rain missed Queensland.
Wow the Brisbane looks like an amazing decent hope all goes well. That first 100km will be a good workout for sure but when you finally hit the city it will all be worth it. Watch out for Hector....
Hiked the River liffey before from its source up the Mts back out to the South wall in Dublin bay it turned out to be about 125 miles on foot with all the detours along the banks A lot more straight forward by kayak methinks
The first half was fascinating, then lots of gaps and lots of unrecognisable darkness. Perhaps starting off at midnight and entering city early evening would allow bright enough views if city centre.
Narrator of the film- " It was at this moment ,sadly the Kayaker realised ,as he approached it , - he had forgotten or failed to notice on the map, the 200 foot high waterfall he was now rapidly approaching !!!"
This was really cool to watch. I was thinking of walking the length of the river over a few days. Do you think the river would be able to follow on foot? I'm sure it passes through a lot of private land. Thought you might know after kayaking. Thanks for the video ;)
Thanks man, yep I think it’s possible for sure just will take some time, the start is all based in a boggy area and would be slow moving but very doable. Once you get past blessington reservoir it will be a little trickier with having to cross equestrian estates, farmers fields, fences, barbed wire etc along with navigating any tributaries on the way that may not have bridges etc where needed. Once you get to celbridge things will get easier and there are paths close to the river most of the way to Dublin port. I’d say it would be a great walk and nice way to enjoy the river!
Could I ask, where is the official source of the Liffey, a rough location and/or Coordinates as I'm going to be creating a 4 part documentary on this river? Cheers
November is a great time to do it. All to do with water levels. There needs to be a lot of rain or the first section of river is bare rock and the bottom has no flow.
@@Tdunphy85 It's a good point about river levels for the upper stretches, but rainfall doesn't vary that much across the year on the east coast around Dublin. And there are many years when the rainfall in July is higher than November. Personally, I'd aim to do the route in July.
@@Tdunphy85 I'd love to give it a crack but I'd probably start after the white water, coz I only have a touring kayak. Is there only this much water flowing in the winter? When you look at satellite images or StreetView etc it doesn't look anything what like you went down, very little water - doesn't look passable.
Fuck me. I want try that hobby . Stop smoke joints any more. First few second - small stream. Next few seconds is a real a PRIMAL. Sorry for my english
Just seen this posted on Reddit, what a feat, thanks for sharing. Really deserves so many more views.
Same here, it could be a good "tourist" marathon with proper care and evaluation of stages beforehand.

That was one hell of a paddle. Well done sir. 👏👏👏
When will the full unedited 16.5 hour version be uploaded?
Kayaked a bit on the river when I was younger & always enjoyed the different perspective it gave. Great to see this. Fair deuce.
Great! Love things like that.

Great adventure, well done!
amazing he did this in under 8 minutes
😂
I watched this a load of of times Tom! Such a class descent. Nice one dude! Nick
Thanks man was a great day out! I'll try make a more informative edit on the next run.
Well done! Very courageous 🎉
This was great, but all I could think about was 16.5hrs in a whitewater boat! I would need a wheelchair after that!
Yes i would have thought an overnight camp would have been better !
That is a sweet little creek, dont want to have to try and roll on that baby
Class! Mesmerising to watch. Do the Shannon now! Lol
That was an impressive feat to watch. Well done you absolute energizer bunny!!
This is cracked, savage achievement man!

Amazing feat... Up at the top scale of high level adventure .....
Excellent. Well done man.
In a day ? , I'm well impressed and paddling through the quays in the dark is just as impressive as when you set out .
Thanks, It’s was a great experience and definitely had some fun navigating the ships etc in the dark.
Thanks pertaining to delivering these sort of awesome info.
Amazing video
Brilliant video. Thanks for putting it up.
This is such a soothing video

@@Tdunphy85 Thanks - the walk so far has been great, but I do look forward to getting on the water :-)
How our grandparents got to school:
Brave person!
Respect! makes me want to take up Kayaking!
Thanks man, never to late to start!!!
Or early
Cant wait to see someone do this with the Shannon.
Be pretty boring in comparison, most of the Shannon is very broad and slow if not an outright lake
Pretty it's been done
That is impressive , fair play
That is some feat deserves a lot more credit you could pay me a million euro and I still wouldn’t go down those weirs in the dark

Traumhaft schönes Wildwasser. Grüße ronactive
shame the video resolution is so muddy because this is awesome!
Fantastic effort.
You absolute beast
Well done, you must have been buzzing coming down from the ha'penny 👍
Awesome
Mad props man!
Well done!
Damn impressive.
This is an amazing video - please, can I ask if its possible for you to upload a higher quality one? 480p doesnt do this any justice!
Brilliant video, well done. Were you not a bit worried doing it solo? Some of those early parts looked a bit hairy.
Its a bit of a challenge alright, but with the right prep it can be enjoyed safely.
c'mon man you didnt prep anything 1:30 into the video. Just routed into a slot full of undercut and tree.@@Tdunphy85

Starting off at the source of the Liffey at midnight??? 🤪🤪😂😜, no comment!
Fair play to you!

Beast, just popped up in my recommended. Did you walk it or have any back up! Top work
Thanks, kayaked the whole river from the top in the sally gap to the bottom where it meets the sea at great south wall, but I did go around the dams.

Well done. Massive paddle. I'm doing it on a SUP from above Polaphoca reservoir to sea. Any tips? Gaining to take 2 days and camp
It’s a bit overgrown just after blessington so watch for fishing hooks etc, but you’ll definitely have a great trip down on sup! Enjoy
Now to do the Shannon ?
"Wooooo!" -Tdunphy85
Bloody impressive lad. Incredible challenge completed in style. Out of curiosity what star WW do you have?
Great feat, but who the hell thought the end of November would be a good time to do it. 8 hours of daylight. :(
November is a great time to do it. All to do with water levels. There needs to be a lot of rain or the first section of river is bare rock and the bottom has no flow.
Great question, great answer

Sending it at 3:24
1:35 looked rather dicey
Did you have to get out of water often due to shallow water or blockages?
Did you go through memorial park?
I only had to get out for the portages at the dams, and yes I past through that park late in the trip in the dark.
Fair played, looks great. Where exactly was your starting point and that area of rapids?
Thanks, it’s close to the crossroads of the sally gap. On the old military road.

@@Aodhankelly rivers are high in autumn/winter..I think he said november...plus he is travelling down a decent...there is alot of flow there...
Damn, this looks like Skyrim
💪💪💪👏👏👏😎😎
hi would you mind if we share your video to show as an example of embodied online filmmaking ? this is with an arts and human rights project. Thanks
Laragh Pittman that’s no problem at all, thanks for the interest.
In November why?
A dominatrix would punish you less in 16 hours
It is usually only possible while or a few hours after heavy rain, in the summer time the top 25km is not deep enough for a kayak.
You skipped about 90% of the river
You should do it for charity this year
In the opposite direction.
Come again
😂😂🤪👍

Poggers
this should not be called a sport. its just a guy floating on a cork down a stream! anybody could do it.

Jaysus lad, I was shitting myself for you there in a few spots! Some day that by the looks of it.
