Our first Sunday afternoon reading took place today for April is Poetry Month in Limerick 2024 at The People's Museum of Limerick with poets Donal Ryan and Eoin Devereux. Unfortunately, Jon Kenny had to withdraw due to illness. Nevertheless, Donal and Eoin delighted us with their verses inspired by the essence of Limerick and Nenagh. Donal Ryan opened with a touching piece by Emily Cullen before sharing his own evocative poems, offering a glimpse into the vivid tapestry of his life in Nenagh. His closing ode by Mary O'Malley seamlessly paved the way for Eoin Devereux. Eoin, renowned not only as a poet but also as an advocate for the working class, transported us through time with his finely crafted verses, dispelling any romantic notions of the past. Together, they delivered a captivating reading, showcasing the literary prowess of Limerick's (and Nenagh's) finest.
