    Tragic loss of a gorgeous home. Even the outbuildings are amazing!😮

    The oak staircase and the wife's study were my favorites. Any natural unpainted woodwork is beautiful to me. What a tragedy just as it was coming back to life.

    This estate is a beauty. Everything about the house and grounds was gorgeous. Funnily enough, out of all those beautiful rooms, I was drawn to the bathroom! I would love to have that off my bedroom!!!

    The water/clock tower looked like a lighthouse. Liked the idea that the clock automatically signaled shifts for the workers. When the house fell victim to arsen while under remodeling, I wonder. (sure it did- -a.k.a insurance scam!) 😢😮😊😅😂

    I don't know about a favorite room per say, but the woodwork in the home is nothing short of spectacular. Well, I should probably correct that to was spectacular. Too bad that it was lost.

    We used to skip school and "visit" this estate- early 1970's. It was intact and unbelievable. The basement had enormous kitchens and laundry facilities. You could see NYC from the roof. Great place to sneak into. It was fabulous.

    Great video about an impressive home tragically lost....What I admired most about the property was that it was both a beautiful estate as well as a working/productive farm. It really is sad when you hear or read about these grand estates from the 19th or early 20th century falling into ruin.....I think it would have been wonderful if the original property could somehow have survived into the 21st century as a kind of living museum and/or working-farm open to the public...ah well....at least we have your videos to give us these glimpses from the past...cheers!

    Gorgeous house! It was designed in a very relaxed and charming style, so unlike some of those other gargantuan Gilded Age behemoths.

    Brant's consortium bought from Lewis Rosensteil, who bought it in 1936 from Converse's estate. Rosensteil was the President of Schenley Liquors. Today it is a gated community of 95 10 acre minimum lot mansions. It has its own polo field.

    • @jamesburtonbud

      If it is pronounced any other way than "green witch", then i think they should respell their town name. I'm guessing they pronounce it in some pretentious English accent that swallows half the letters.

      Seriously. I don't get how youtube creators can butcher names and words. Some of them even admit they're probably saying something wrong. It's funny but sad considering there are *thousands* of 30 second long videos of how to pronounce countless names/words ON THIS VERY PLATFORM. Greenwich included. No excuse.

    • @hewitc
      @hewitc 6 месяцев назад

      Same as the pronounciation for Greenwich England, as in "Greenwich Mean Time". The home had no waterfront side. It's about 9 miles to the Long Island Sound.

    I would have- windows with the ability to keep out sound/light/have privacy, heated floors, throughout, in the bedrooms have Murphy beds, in the bathroom have heated towel racks, bidets, and a japanese soaking tub, in the kitchen have tables that are built into the wall with chairs that store with it.
    I would also like to be able to switch my dirty water to go into a container where it could be recycled for watering the lawn or plants... or possibly recycle the water.
