    The true achievement of Aikido is to arrive at a point were there is a fluidity. This young man exemplifies this...as Aikido is an art...

    True I would have nothing in the Dojo. However, when I used it in the placement on gang members while a probation officer we had people on the floor pinned and or immobilized. Of course they have no Aikido Ukemi but Aikido does not need the person to know how to fall in order to be effective. Hey Joe!

    Aikido is a beautiful art to watch and practice. It is an art of cooperation between practitioners. Aikido was made to be an art of piece by master Morihei Ueshiba. It comes from jiu-jitsu, Aiki jiu-jitsu, and Daito Ryu. These were suited for real combat. I practiced Aikido for ten years plus after having practiced Kyokushin karate for twelve years and other Martial Arts. Mas Obama's karate is a fighting art as well as other karate styles. When you practice Aikido you surrender to the technique so both attacker and defender can learn proper technique. In very special circumstances Aikido could work in real-life combat but real combat is not generally emphasized in Aikido. An Aikido practitioner would be lost in the MMA world and that is a fact. We have seen karate practitioners of different styles like GSP, Boss, Machida and many others from BJJ, Judo, wrestling becoming MMA champions.
    So if an Aikidoka wants to prove him/her self in an MMA environment without other combat tools I which them the best.

    • @JustMe-vz3wd
      @JustMe-vz3wd 2 года назад +1

      whats all the talking about MMA? Why the comparison and competition with MMA? MMA is a fighting sport focused on competitions. Aikido is not. If i would want to compete in an MMA competition fight, i would learn and practise MMA. In real life, mma techniques are less than practica though, i'd rather learn aikido to deal with real life conflicts. Depend on MMA and a regular fight will escalate, one of the two fighters will end up badly, and it might be you. Depend on aikido and you'l stay safe, in control, and deescalate a fight.
      Lastly, people who think they can solve a problem with violence, they easily can become the problem themselves.
      Lastly, anyone who doesnt mind violence to settle a fight in "real life", why practise mma for months and months. Just buy a 10dollar switchblade, more easy... :-)

    We once had a belligerent man come into my dojo (just a random guy, not a student), who smugly asked opponents didn't simply let go in the middle of a technique and punch the person instead. Our sensei turned to him with a smile that we all knew to fear. She picked one of the black belts and instructed him to do as the guy said, and let go in the middle of the technique. I could see the regret in his eyes, but he nodded anyway. I forget what technique she started, probably a not-too-wild kotegaeshi or something. All that matters is, as soon as the black belt let go, she punched him three times and did something to his legs that left him on the ground. The belligerent man just kind of went "oh," and left.

    • @dmartin1650
      @dmartin1650 10 лет назад +9

      What you see here is a demonstration with very experienced ukes (the guys being 'taken down'). A good uke is aiming to protect himself from injury from the techniques, hence the beautiful flow. You shouldn't doubt the power of the practitioner though until you've been on the receiving end. Aikido shares many many principles with many many martial arts. But one of the things it emphasises more than most I think, is the training of a good uke. The better the uke, the harder and more powerfully you can apply technique in practice. What you are seeing here are amazing demonstrations of two halves of Aikido ... the Practice of technique, and the practice of receiving good technique.

    • @chrisshurts371
      @chrisshurts371 10 лет назад +7

      If you're being attacks at full speed it's just nasty. Those who don't train in it, don't know how to flow with it like those who do. If someone is attacking you at full speed, there are going to be some destroyed joints. It's still joint manipulation there Mr. Mc.

  • @cherrycoke789

    Not a single one of these dance moves would work against a real life attacker so what's the point?

  • @GarageDwellerPat
    @GarageDwellerPat 10 лет назад +3

    Some of these "attackers" look like they are literally jumping forward head first onto the ground. This looks faker than Kung Fu.

    • @Mikazuki1808
      @Mikazuki1808 9 лет назад +7

      This is because the "attackers" or well-knowns like ukes in aikido, they need follow the choreography in order to dont get hurt. If they dont do it, they can suffer severe damage. That is not the idea about Aikido, relationship between Uke and Nage is not about someone makes damage to the other, is about training. Even ukes have training called Ukemi. Thats why people say " its fake" , its not fake, the damage is real, but for someone who doesnt know what to do in order to avoid the damage.
      P.D: Sorry for my bad english is not my mother tongue.
