Folks have many reasons and motivations for keeping a well stocked pantry with both edibles and non edible supplies. All it takes is a simple power outage to shed light on what any household is missing when a more serious emergency occurs. I too have oil lamps and I also have battery operated candles. We don’t have cats or kids at home anymore to worry about but I do like having them both ready. I think you’re wise to stock up and the hurricane was proof that your previous efforts were worth it. I hope you’ll share making your personal care product journey. I’ve been assembling supplies for doing that as well. I hope 2025 is off to a great start!

I recommend the salted/roasted pumpkin seeds , golden raisins and cane sugar sweetened cranberries from azure. I am new to Azure( ordered 3 times) and like to see the hauls, ideas for next drop. Excited for your upcoming summer garden!

Hey I really like frontier co-op too and I was just looking at a spice grinders! I really need something other than a mortar and pestle for bulk herbs that I need fine ground. One of the other channels I follow, Becoming a farm girl, just put out a video making her own kind of toothpaste I thought was interesting and want to try and now thanks to you I want to make my own deodorant! Its going to be an interesting 2025 for my household. Thanks for the video, glad you guys are doing well!

I was looking for the links to some of the items you showed from amazon, I like to be prepared and was looking for the wicks and rechargeable batteries

@@rosecarlo5413 I don’t have these items linked because to be quite honest I am struggling finding a block of time to do so, but the wicks will depend on the size of your specific oil lamps - I just searched 1/2” oil lamp wicks for mine on amazon & the rechargeable batteries are EBL brand. I hope that helps & will try to get to linking as much as I can as soon as possible.

Deodorant here if i make it is 1tsp coconut oil, 1tsp corn starch, mix well and add 2 drops essential oil of choice. Put in a small like old daycream jar. Since there are no preservatives in it make new every month, hence the small amounts. I would do the same for most homemade care products other then soap because of that. Also unless you use a makeup spoon or such you'll get "dirt" in these products, so smaller portions make sense there too.
For soap i use individual molds because i want soaps that are comfortable to hold and handle, so they are used plenty. The "loaves" make chunky block soap that don't do that for me. I can also make way smaller batches of soap and that is handy when you pretty much make soap for a total of 2-3 people, so 2-3 bars in use at the time (2 households). Invites experimenting more also, if failure is 1/2 pound or so oil size batch.

@@hillockfarm8404 we like to use jute/luffa bags for our soap so the loaf isn’t an issue but I can see how it might not be enjoyable if you’re not using one of those. I gotta streamline as much as possible with my limited time though - can’t be making these often so I’ve got recipes from trusted sources that should easily last the year 💕

We have the same philosophy about stocking up. I just can’t see the point of putting shelf stable stuff on my grocery list every week when I can buy it once every six month and forget about it. In the long run, having a deep pantry saves both time and money. The trick is understanding your consumption habits and only buying in bulk what you can use in a year or so.

Agreed! I save all of my grocery lists & each year i go through and see how much we bought of nearly everything- that’s how I plan for roughly how much we need. It’s so helpful to understand what you need & not to waste it if you buy it in bulk 🙂
