"Hallowed Be Thy Name" is the final track on Iron Maiden's 1982 album The Number of the Beast. The song was written by bassist Steve Harris and has been acclaimed as one of the greatest heavy metal songs of all time and is also considered the band's signature song.
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" has remained in almost all of the band's set-lists since the album's recording, the only exceptions being the Maiden England World Tour 2012-14,[2] and the second leg of the Book of Souls World Tour in 2017. Allmusic describes it as "perhaps the most celebrated of the band's extended epics; it's the tale of a prisoner about to be hanged, featuring some of Harris' most philosophical lyrics."[3] Several band-members have since stated that it is one of their favourite tracks, with Bruce Dickinson describing it as "fantastic" and that performing it live is like "narrating a movie to the audience." -- Source Wikipedia

I've always thought that Bruce Dickinson, man of culture as he is, has been an avid reader of poetry, and not only from an anglo-saxon origin. This song, for instance, seems to have been more than inspired by José de Espronceda's 'El Reo de Muerte'. The subject, the intensity, the bitterness, everything in both works seem to be almost equal.

Also integrating "movements" in some of the images, to keep it a bit dynamic. I'd like to learn how to do the "flowing" parts like you do. I FINALLY got to see Maiden for the first time ever in Houston in 2017 on the "Book of Souls" tour. At that time Steve was embroiled in the "Hallowed" copyright dilemma so sadly they didn't play my all-time favorite Maiden song.
Fast forward two years however. In September 2019 (juuuuuust a bit pre-covid) I was blessed to see Maiden in Houston on the SPECTACULAR Legacy of the Beast tour.
Happily, they played tons of classics including, of course, Hallowed. I suppose that's as close to a religious experience or musical ecstasy I will likely get.
It was AMAZING . The entire show ranks in my top 3 shows all-time. That full list includes seeing Van Halen(once with Dave on the 1984 Tour) and Van Hagar 3 times -including their very first show on the 5150 World Tour at the venerable Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, LA.
I saw the Metallidudes 4 times-including as second act on the 1988 US Monsters Of Rock with Kingdom Come/Dokken/Scorpions and Van Hagar at Rice Stadium in Houston as well as the ill-fated but still badass tour with GNR.
I saw Dio on the Sacred Heart tour.
I saw the mighty Sabbath on The End tour in Dallas in 2016.
I've seen just about every major metal/hard rock/classic rock band save Floyd/The Who and Zeppelin...but...that Legacy show in Houston was next level .

@@alienaioverlord I played this on the big screen for my class where I teach ethics. I brought my guitar and amp and played along - including the solos. They loved it! They all clapped and cheered enthusiastically after. It was awesome. I'm still jazzed about it 10 hours later. (We were studying capital punishment so I used this song as part of the lesson plan b/c it has so many philosophical and religious concepts in it).
