David you're so right, addicts are high performers in the darkness or the light

Again guys - brilliant chat thanks. I'm of Ridgeys era and alcohol at 14 was normal - I used to rock up to mates places with a bottle of vodka and packets of raro on a regular basis at that age - drugs hadn't really hit the scene yet for us. I quit when my babies were born in my 20s and I prioritized them. I've taken a lot from your chats and I now understand the guy I live with a bit more now - like Ridgey I have a huge issue with being lied to, but I understand a bit more now. NZ has a bad attitude towards alcohol, horrible attitude. It's made binge drinking ""cool", and its just SO not, not as a teenager especially.

Thanks so much for sharing and so glad you’ve found some good takeaways from our chats. None of it easy but more people than not struggle we think.

@@TheBrinkPodcast I agree. Kiwi culture never used to encourage talking about it, we just sucked it up and grew up (some of us) so its good to see these things being addressed now. For you guys to open up and share your vulnerability is huge - just by talking about your stories it shows us that none of us is without issues, and those that think they are just need to look a bit deeper. The "she'll be right" attitude is a bit outdated these days.
Keep up the great work guys.
