I honestly love this part so much. This arc was all about the importance of kindness, but choppers backstory demonstrates that kindness alone is not enough to save the ones you love.
That’s why One Piece is so goated. U grown up with it like as many other what makes One Piece a Part of your life. I could not ever compare it to an anime with only about 50 eps u watch in like 2 months and think it is the best. In my opinion for an example aot is really good but I would never call it a masterpiece when there are anime like one piece.
@@brandon1234 so you say someone based his life and grew up with aot over years like you do with a family dog? Aot is just cool to watch but won’t teach anybody anything or be part of someone’s life that’s why it’s good but not a masterpiece.
Water 7 Saga is Peak And I heard there's Marineford as well, I heard it's the real peak beyond it Btw, I'm on Thriller Bark, it got slow but it's fun, just like Skypiea as it's coming up where you're headed anyhow
I dont understand but one piece (oda) can fr make their fans cry so easily. Its also how innocent and kind chopper is. I was in tears when i saw chopper hurt so he can get the mushroom. He ate it for choppers reasons. So he wouldnt feel like chopper sacrifised and did all of that for nothing. And in the end doctor hiriluk was poisoned and killed by his own concoctions.
This scene is when i officially became invested in one piece. This arc itself was amazing. I tried watching one piece so many times and stopped after the 2nd episode or 3rd. But last year i said lets get past the first arc. I was like okay...this is pretty good and i continued. Then when we go here...man...not gonna lie i almost cried lol. I did nfo expect one piece to go deep like that. Like i always thought this anime was pretryy goofy so i was like this is probably just gomma be lit and funny the entire time. NOPE watch one piece do it.
Every arc builds off one another. The beginning doesnt do a very good job at showing the op universe but the more episodes you watch the further down the rabbit hole you go.
@a *4 I'd argue the first few episodes of a long story shouldn't show too much early on let viewers take in the world and it's people first before giving us the meat of the story
I remember being heartbroken watching this for the first time but rewatching it now, it gets me choked up. Chopper... after falling off a cliff, having to walk back home aimlessly injured in the cold, and climbing Hiriluk's ladder with a Busted leg, he begs the only man who's showed him kindness to live while unknowingly giving him the thing that'll further solidify his fate. And Hiriluk, knowing all about the mushroom, accepts it from him. This might be the arc that keeps me around for the long haul with this anime.
My family would always tell me anime was for little kids, over time they learned to respect it for what it was having seen moments such as this that they’ve never seen before in “cartoons” they’ve seen. I’d be the first to get my brother into anime (Dragon Ball) and he’d later get me into watching One Piece. I started watching it November 2023 and I have to say I’m truly enjoying it! It’s hard to compare back stories with Nami’s coming close but man Chopper’s was a straight up gut punch and made me teary eyed every time. The little guy could be my friend any day and definitely needs a hug!
Fun fact, because Japan didn't have Hollywood like the USA, they told their stories through animations, which is far more advanced than American anime. And yes, some are rated R for adults only. It's is Americans who are too arrogant and ignorant to say things we don't understand
This is a man who knows the mushroom is poison, but doesn't have the heart to tell his stupid adopted son who got brutally beat up trying to find that mushroom it's no good. His weakness was truly being too nice for his own good but god I loved him
When does a man die? Is it when he's shot in the heart with a pistol? No. When he's stricken with a deadly disease? No. When he eats soup... made from a poisonous mushroom? NO! It's when he is forgotten!!! Dr. Hiriluk, what an absolute legend 😭😭😭
Out of all the strawhat’s choppers backstory really identified with me. I think the Beaty of one piece is how everyone has a strawhat they resonate with.

Out of all the Strawhats, Chopper may have had the saddest upbringing, this arc never fails to make me cry.
