Lovely to see all these rare helicopters, very underappreciated.

I grew up next to a naval dockyard and always remember seeing the Wasps flying down to land on their naval ships. Takes me back somewhat. I spend my life in and around helicopters for my job and have been in everything from AS350’s, Jet Rangers, 500’s, CH-47 Chinooks, through to Hueys and BlackHawks (I work in aerial feature filming, but not as a pilot). Today was a Royal Navy Wessex. I also learned to fly in a Gazelle. It was the roughest helicopter I’ve ever been in. The best was the BlackHawk. Rapid elevator.
Great video here though. And great audio too. Thanks for posting.

How come the Wasp looks cool but the Scout looks kinda dozy? And how come the Gazelle never came with wheels like the Wasp?

The Wheels were offset to stop the aircraft from rolling on the flight deck in heavy seas, skids would just allow it to go over the side. The Gazelle was never a match for the Wasp in an onboard environment, its an excellent helo for Ground Operations and training but not for anti submarine warfare.
