thank you very much for your videos on the mini. I used to play recorders in my youth (was actually rather good, played in school orchestras etc.) Haven't done any playing for ages now (I'm almost 60 years old now). But now I bought the AE-01 and it is really nice to play. I'm still in the process of getting aquainted with the instrument, my fingers are a bit "rusty", but it is real fun! Please excuse my English, it isn't my first language.

I just discovered you tonight for looking for tutorials on the Aerophone. I finally got one for Christmas this year n having fun learning it past few days. I had no idea what the note notation was on the instrument until i found your video. thanks so much for the video I subscribed. :)
I just saw an ad for Aerophone Mini a few days ago. I used to play saxophone when a teenager. I currently play organ, piano, and keyboard. (I play for my church.) I also used to have a Casio Digital Horn which quit working many years ago. My mother decided to purchase the Areaphone Mini for my birthday in July. It will be hard to wait to try it for 2.5 months. Since I am in the U.S., I don't know if it will come with conical mouth piece or the one with the plastic reed. I'm sure either will be fine. Thanks for both videos reviewing the instrument.
As a follow up, mine arrived yesterday. Since I won't "officially" get it until my birthday in July, I did test it to make sure it worked. Everything seems to work. I tried it with the speakers that I use for my keyboard. The on-board sounds are MUCH better that way than through the small built-in speaker. I think I will enjoy the instrument since I will mainly use it for "fun" and maybe a little playing at church or something. Mine did come with the conical mouthpiece. I think this is standard in the U.S. Would you recommend purchasing the AE-05 mouthpiece?
Another awesome video Sir! Thank you very much for your advice. Actually, I bought the AE10 and I’m pretty happy with it! I really appreciate your kindness and advice!
Thank You for this brilliant video. I understood every word, even my English skills Are more then poor. Pls, make more such videos. Tomorrow i'll pickup my own "mini" in the store And start to practise. Thank You, sir!

Thank you for the very informative video, it has helped me a lot! But I've got a question: how are you recording the built in sound of the aerophone mini (or those of its app) in such a good quality? Are you connecting it to a computer via USB and then recording with a DAW software like midi? Could you please explain it to me, it would be very kind of you ! I find the build in sounds very good and it would be sad if I couldn’t record them or having to buy an another virtual instrument software... Waiting for your answer, and best regards :)
Hi Alistair, I am a Roland MC-707 user and I want to add a instrument like the Roland Aerphone mini (I have no experience in wind instruments) to play patterns in the Groovebox. Can I send out midi via the usb to record the notes whit the sounds in my Roland Groovebox? Or can I connect the headphone out directly to a line in on the Groovbox? Otherwise, is there a possbility to connect this to a Roland Go Mixer Pro? I like to hear from you what the options are to capture the sounds on an extern device. Thanks in advance, grtz. Marcel
Essentially it works just like a keyboard so yes you can take the audio out from the Aerophone and connect to a mixer or audio input on a device. As far as midi/usb out I don’t think you can go directly USB out of the Aerophone to usb in on a sound module or other keyboard. You’d need to go via a computer I think. Sorry I have no experience with the Groovbox.
Thanks very much for another of your clearly explained intro and tutorial videos. I have been playing an AE-10 for 7 months, and really like it. Already owning the high-end instrument of the series, can you think of any unique characteristics of the AE-01 that would lead you to suggest I might want to buy the AE-01 as well?

+Chestnut Bowl At the moment there are only a dozen or so lessons and I hope that Roland will add more both easier and more difficult. I’d suggest working from a saxophone tutor book in addition to the app lessons would be good. As always there’s no replacing a good teacher. You could save years.
I love what your video showed. But I sure would like an instrument like this that I can play with one hand since I only have one to play with. Any ideas?
Hi there. You can play most Aerophones with one hand. You should double check first but I think they all do. There’s a special fingering system that allows a fully chromatic scale with either left or right hand only.
@@isax.academy would you be willing to walk me through some of this stuff. I have never played a wind instrument but am quite willing to learn it. You mentioned how easy it is to learn. But I think starting with a simpler instrument would probably be better. So I guess I would like something mid grade. Something that would allow me to tap into garage band on my iPad and such. Hello Alistair, could you please tell me the product name or number for that mouthpiece? Someone said it was the AE-05MPC but I can't seem to find that anywhere. Thank you.
I'm really tempted to get one of these. I started learning the Sax a couple of years ago so have some basic skills already. A couple of questions. Do you have to put the same amount of blowing effort into the mouthpiece. I ask this as I'm a little asthmatic and had trouble with the sax. Also does the level of blowing effort translate into the amount of volume produced? i.e the more you blow the louder it gets?
If you there are plans to have MPE with this, then I'm interested. As a keys player who's decided to invest most of his time learning the Linnstrument, this seems like something I could pick up easily and use for wind instrument libraries.
Thanks for this video. Can it be programmed to play with 3 finger trumpet style finger positions? If not, do you know of any similar digital type of instrument that can, other than the EWI?

What aboun naturality of sound in comparing with other model of aerophone? Thank you. P.S. If it poosible to find page with comparing all Aerophone model? Have a nice weekend=)
Hi. Yes you could connect the iPad to the Aerophone mini over Bluetooth. Then you could play the sound from the iPad and the internal sound from the aerophone at the same time. Through headphones if you want to. The sounds on the aerophone mini are very similar to the sounds on the aerophone go in terms of quality. Of course if you want the best quality sounds then the aerophone AE10 is the best choice.
I purchased akai ewi USB awhile back to see if I could relearn from 40 years ago the trumpet. I have not had much success. Do you feel the ae-01 might make it easier.
Is it possible to upload a different sound (harmonica) to the onboard memory of the Mini? I saw a video of Alistair Parnell uploading new sounds with the AE-10. I know that the outboard app for the Mini has the harmonica patch. I'd like to have the harmonica onboard if I had a Mini. Thanks.
+Otrie Barrett Jr To my knowledge not directly. You would need to go via a computer or there is a device made by Kenton I believe that should convert the USB to midi for you.
iSax - Alistair Parnell Hello Alistair! Among all the air midi controllers on the market, which one is better for a clarinet player? No matter the brand, Akai, Roland, Yamaha, Sylphyo ... Thank you very much!
How would it work as a MIDI controller? I would want to use it to control an analog synthesizer, but synthesizers don't have bluetooth and many don't even have USB... is there any way to use it with a MIDI instrument with standard DIN connector?
+Luciano Notarfrancesco He. You need to go through either a computer or some kind of interface which allowed USB in and midi out. There is such a device made by a company called Kenton I believe.
Nice little instrument (or should I say “device”?) My only criticisms are that IMHO it should come with many more than just six built-in synthetic instrument sounds and at $300US it’s fairly expensive. One other thing: Roland should make it easier for prospective buyers to learn what the additional sounds that are available via the app are. Still, what a fun way to have the ability to play music wherever you go without having to carry a much bulkier traditional instrument!
I have a 12 year old (alto sax) and 14 year old (clarinet) player. I've asked them to introduce my EWI 5000 instrument to their teachers. I'd like to work toward integrating electronic wind instruments into the middle and high school music curriculum. Does the mini work with SWAM or other soft syntchs? With more remote COVID driven schooling the EWI or Aerophone could be a great way to keep music alive. With this in mind, 1. Is there anyone who gives lessons on the EWI for a young person (or adult...)? 2. Do you have any recommendations as to which wind controller may be best for a younger person with slightly smaller hands. Moderate Budget in mind. 3. Are you aware of anyone who is working with their school system on a similar project to introduce wind controllers as a legitimate substitute for acoustic instruments. If so, I'd like to connect with them. Thanks! Pat
Yes the Mini would work with SWAM but of course you have some limitations in the expression due to no lip control. There are people around who can give lessons but like me they are probably quite full with their teaching schedules. The Aerophone AE-05 would be a great choice for younger player or possibly the Akai SOLO. I don't know of anyone really trying to get these into schools. Generally there is a lack of awareness on these which is a shame.
You can connect in three ways. Theres bluetooth to connect to a computer or other device. Theres audio out to go straight to a speaker and theres USB to connect to a computer or device. I do have a video on the AE-05 that covers connections. The AE-01 works in the same way.
Some people who bought this and reviewed it said that the lag on android equipment make the app unusable. Does anyone know anything about that? Maybe it only runs fast enough on apple stuff?
I’m afraid I don’t have any experience with Android stuff and I have heard of some Android devices having latency issues. Those seem to be with all audio apps not just the Aerophone. Perhaps there’s a way you could test your device with another audio app first and see what the delay is like?
@@isax.academy Thanks so much for the reply. That's some good thinking you did there but I intended to buy a tablet for the purpose as my phone is no way good enough. Apple stuff of course is very expensive. I'll give it some more though.
Question: the BAG FED system sounded simple enough but is this system totally transferable to the real recorder? It feels like a bad idea to learn an electronic instrument that is not transferable to a traditional instrument too. I suspect it is but I just want to make sure.
+wikichris hi. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t thoroughly know all the fingerings on the recorder but I have been teaching this system on the acoustic saxophone for nearly 40 years. To the best of my knowledge the clarinet in its upper register, the flute and the recorder all use a very similar if not identical system for the main seven notes fingering.Of course the sharps and flats will have variations for each instrument and do not use the same system with the little finger that the aerophone Mini has.
Hi. It works just like a keyboard so you can connect the audio out of the aerophone directly into your interface or use it as a midi controller to control sample instruments within your DAW.
Caution....what no one tells you ,you must have Samsung version 7 or higher to get the app. I'm stuck with a $300 instrument that only gets 6 tones. If I would have known that before I would not have purchased it. They hide that fact.

My only criticisms are that IMHO it should come with many more than just six built-in synthetic instrument sounds and at $300US it’s fairly expensive.
With this in mind,
Where do you connect it...what kind of connection?
You can connect in three ways. Theres bluetooth to connect to a computer or other device. Theres audio out to go straight to a speaker and theres USB to connect to a computer or device. I do have a video on the AE-05 that covers connections. The AE-01 works in the same way.
is it possible to play Indian classical raags or indian songs on AE-10?
I'm not sure about this I'm afraid. Do ragas need specific tunings for individual notes?
@@isax.academy Yeah, there are microtones involved with that
Some people who bought this and reviewed it said that the lag on android equipment make the app unusable.
3 octaves? like c4-c6?
How use this devise for record in DAW like ableton or cubase?)
Hi. It works just like a keyboard so you can connect the audio out of the aerophone directly into your interface or use it as a midi controller to control sample instruments within your DAW.

Is the app for the mini compatible with the aerophone ae-10?
Unfortunately not.
@@isax.academy shame, thanks for speedy reply
@@isax.academy and please do you know if the app works with Aerophone GO ? thank's a lot.
I don't get the app on my phone....why ?
Hi. Did you download it from your App Store?
@@isax.academy

Does the app have bagpipes?
Hi. Just checked. Yes there is a bagpipe sound on the app. Not sure how good it is though.
i want one......
Interesting
Thanks for watching
How much does it cost?
Can its app be applicable for Roland Aerophone Go?
The learning function is new and pretty sound for skill tests!
You're video says six finger holes but I see 7.
Hi. So most wind instruments have a basic 6 holes then additional keys. For me the AE-01 has 6 basic holes and the 7th is really a little finger key.
So what is the 7th key used for?
Cuanto cuesta ?
Caution....what no one tells you ,you must have Samsung version 7 or higher to get the app. I'm stuck with a $300 instrument that only gets 6 tones. If I would have known that before I would not have purchased it.
They hide that fact.
This is a good video - but he doesn't play it, so i can't hear what it sounds like😮
I like you. Have a sub
Thank you
Смешная игрушка, но я за электропианино) its funny toy but i think elektropiano is better
3 Octaves don't sound convincing tbh
Sounds good, but your constant movement in and out so close to your camera made me seasick.
