Monkian is my favorite Thundercats character and this figure looks perfect. It feels like it's been on pre-order forever.
No it doesn't.
Almost perfect. The reviewer didn't show how hard it is to get Monkian to hold the shield as the loop/handle of the shield is too small to fit the hand in without heating and squishing the fingers.
You got him early you are so lucky Toy Bro! The rest of us have to wait lord knows how long another 2 or 3 months or even years? Heavy Sigh!🙂🙃🤔👍

Strange oversight that they didn't design the shield handle to actually fit over his hand. I had to heat up then squish the hand to get it to just about hold the shield. The handle loop needed to be bigger or one hand needed to be sculpted in a way to fit in the shield loop.
So far I have Mumm Ra the Ancient, Liono, Jackalman and Panthro. I've just ordered Monkian and Im super excited for it to come in. Monkian was always my favorite bad guy, I love his design and the voice actor really sold it (as did all the other voice actors) . I would love to see the Thunder Cats reboot figures in the same class as these figures ( if not a little more accurate to the show would be nice) I love the original but the reboot was good too. This was a great review.
I only got into the Super7 ThunderCats line last year, with the first wave. I'm happy I'll have the main trio of mutants complete, and after that I'll be a bit more selective. I've got some army builders I think will fit into the line well.
Now if only they released Cheetara and Tygra...
What are you using for army builders?

Vultureman is my favorite one. He's basically Skektek. I really wish S7 kept the matte prototype finish. I'm starting to doubt collecting more of their lines.

I have him on pre order. Besides Mumm-Ra The Ever Living, Monkian was my favorite villain on the show!
This figure is awesome, waiting on Cheetara to complete core teams, later cats and mutants will be icing on the cake

as a kid I always wanted his shield weapon but we just got that mace. I will have to get him, I want all the super 7 figures
I can't help but feel super7 starts to skimp on paint as lines progress with time, almost like they're baiting customers in with the opening waves and then start skimping on costs once they've locked people in. something I've noticed on some other ultimate lines - particularly tmnt. I'm glad this one feels better but there's no denying a lack of paint.

I prefer the unshaded plastic. Looks more like an animation cel.
You can get wire from Walmart in the jewelry section and weave in and out of the chain to make it bendy. I did it for a spawn chain I made.
A goofy snarl is very Monkian. I'm glad they gave him proper fangs, something they didn't do with Jackalman. I'm not sure if that green is totally accurate either but it looks as though it pops a bit more than what brown would. I say that because the figure already has a lot of brown and green is a colour that goes well with red which we do see on the loincloth. I really like the head sculpt that comes attached to him. That is my favourite of the two because it's represents the character more. The second head has a more sinister look to it which I also like. However, I got ordered two Monkians because I've ended up with two Jackalmen. I've displayed MOTUC Whiplash next to Slithe but I would probably get one of Slithe's reptilians if we got a figure of that but I'm not sure how likely it is that we see one. Having said that, I have a feeling Super7 will do a Snowmeow to go with Snowman.

I was just looking up a bunch of pics of them, and the olive green strap is definitely accurate. There's a few images where it's brown, but primarily it's this colour.
And I see you're a super meticulous, neurotic, autistic type like myself lol. The only thing I would've done differently is delete the message and create a new one, so you don't see the edited message. I overly describe things, writing in novel form...but I keep getting better at not going so hardcore. It's definitely a hindrance considering no one wants to read that much. We can be extremely overwhelming to neurotypical brained ppl. And not intending any of this in a snarky condescending way, just wanting to give some friendly pointers. I revised your message to be more streamline. The only thing I left out is the whole red/green thing...cause the colour hues are too close on the visual spectrum. So typically they're considered unnerving together.

_I ended up ordering two, cause I got two Jackleman's, so why not lol. I display the MOTU Classics Whiplash next to Slithe, but getting a reptilian army builder would be the preferred way to go. Hoping they also do a Snowmeow to go with the Snowman of Hook Mountain._
@@Chalor. Much appreciated. I tend to think of other things after writing the initial comment so I tend to add on instead of writing several separate ones. The comment could be somewhat minimized like you say but that's hindsight for you.
Looks awesome! The villians seem to be more appealing than the heroes as far as these figures go.

It's nice to finally see super 7 be consistent in terms of quality. I think he looks a little glossy which his product photos clearly weren't. But at least he doesn't look like a knock off figure like alot of their previous figures. There's room for improvement but they are getting better. There's no way in hell though I can justify the insane high prices of these figures. They are like way to expensive. But eh at least he's pinless.
I like their figures (well, I only own the wave 1 Thundercats), but yeah, they are very expensive for what they are. Just this week I realised that I could get two Marvel Legends for the price of one Super7 figure, and that's not including shipping (and I live in Australia, so shipping here is always a pain). Crap, for two Super7 Ultimates figures, I could get a Mafex figure PLUS shipping.
The quality just doesn't feel there for the price as well. The Thundercats I got had some paint splotches like random white in Lion-O's hair, the wire in Mumm-Ra's cape poking out of it and one of Panthro's eye markings being ON HIS NOSE. That and Jackalman's legs being a paint to correct. If I'm paying premium prices for a figure that doesn't look premium, I at least expect the quality control to be decent.
@@Fuzzy_Barbarian Yeah, I stopped pre-ordering S7 figures for that exact reason. I have some of the "main" Tcats figures up to wave 4 on pre-order still, but cancelled open TMNT pre-orders. And I am out with regards to Tcats wave 5 and onwards. The price point just doesn't work for what these are. They are nice, but not ~70€ nice (which is what these go for in Europe). In comparison, MOTU Origins are around 18€ and the Masterverse figures, or Classified Joes are around 25€. So S7 stuff is almost three times as much, which is nonsense.
@@Fuzzy_Barbarian it never will be from Super7. You will always pay double, always face months/years delays and always receive deeply flawed paint or mechanics. It’s the Super7 credo.
It truly sucks they go for 70 or more in Europe. In the states Ive bought most of my collection (Super 7 Thunder Cats) we're about 50 with shippin. I truly do feel for any thunder cats fans who have to pay that price. These are truly great figures ( yes they could be better but I really love them) it a shame that a whole group of fans have to pay out the nose for them. Hope you guys catch a break and your all doing well
What effect pieces did you use combined with shield?

I have a simple fix for posing Monkian’s mourning-star mace’s free hanging chain! Take an average twist-tie, remove the paper from the wire and thread it through a few links of chain. Voila! You can now pose the chain! (Stripping the plastic from the wire-ties used in many figures like transformers will give a slightly thicker, stronger wire, but it will be more visible). If you don’t want the mace head to hang, start by looping the the end of the wire through the plastic where the chain connects, then thread (or wrap, your call) the wire through or around the chain. Same can obviously be done for the handle.
That said, I love the 4-Horsemen’s sculpts and wish you’d have given them more credit instead of giving even one word of credit to Super7 for the design (slip of the tongue). I absolutely, utterly and completely loathe Super7 and how they run their business. They’ll gladly take people’s money with a no cancel preorder policy, then make fans that paid in full wait 8-12, even 18+ months before actually shipping products that arrive damaged (not just the packaging, which alone can easily cut the collector value in *half*. They do not care about their customers and hide behind one word repeatedly: “Estimated”. But when “estimated” becomes a full year (anything beyond 1 month is unacceptable), they issue NO real apology, refuse cancellation requests and keep your money. They’ve done this LONG YEARS before Covid or supply chain issues were even a problem. They’ll never see a penny from me no matter what they offer. That’s just to warn potential buyers: expect months or years of delays. That’s simply the facts of supporting these weak Hot-Topic wannabe’s and Lyin’ Brian Flynn.

They've sort of hinted at the possibility, but I'm not expecting it anytime soon until they can nail down getting these out more steadily.

You could have mentioned that the shield handle is to small to fit in his hand properly... And that's a big problem I think and nobody speak about it... Is that really your prefered accessory?
The figure looks really good but in The cartoons he wasn't so big like that , I think he was almost smaller than Lion-o but he stills fit with the Mattel ones at the other hand Vultureman looks out of scale.
I think he was mostly around this size but in some episodes looked smaller. It was basically inconsistent animation.
If they drop the ball with Cheetara after a 3 year wait I'll never by s7 again

Awesome review for a really solid figure. Super 7 is making my favorite stuff and I am happy with almost all of their design choices. I really hate how double jointed elbows and knees look on modern figures, it's unsightly even in the hands of excellent toy photographers, so yes these figures look so much cleaner without it. Thanks!
I think they work on slim figures like Marvel Legends but for bulky MOTU/Thundercats type figures, double joints look awful like on old toybiz Marvel Legends where the double joint was so big and totally ruined the proportions.
Why didn't they do pinless joints in the first place? Doing them further down the line takes the gloss off the earlier ones, who were, as you would expect, heavy hitters. This could have been planned a lot better because if that had been the case, pinless joints would have been the plan at the very start of the line. I do like this figure though. Luckily I don't care if they are pinless or not but it does keep getting mentioned so that is why they should have started as they meant to go on. I'm not re-purchasing Lion-O after buying every classics version so far, that would be ridiculous. I have so many Lion-Os now. Any more would be silly at this point. The fact that other people are contemplating it is crazy as those people probably have as many Lion-Os as me, maybe more. I did pre-order red Lion-O but that should be it for Lion-O figures now.

I don't get all the praise this one got. The snout is too wide, the torso too narrow, the chest should be hairless, the beard shape is wrong and the flail should have a knotted segment attached to the chain.
Ultimates are already to close to mythic legions. I don't want that crap.
