It’s really nice to see that you know how to take care of your engine as well as use it. GOOD JOB!
According to Yamaha owners manual, you are not supposed to run the engine using the water hose flush. You need to put on muffs on lower unit water intake.
Very nice boat man! John is correct. You have to put muffs on the engine to run it. Otherwise, you can burn up the water pump.
Im sure a lot, not all, don’t really worry about doing maintenance by the book on new Yamaha engines because they are going to trade the boat in at the 3yr mark anyway. Then the guy that buys the used boat gets to have the problems.
Duke im going to be buying my first Yamaha engine soon, is their a certain brand of muffs that work the best on the intake? I saw a earlier video where the guy was saying the muffs dont fit right on the Yamaha intake
I know this is from a year ago but I use one of those 55g blue plastic drums fill it with the hose water . I have a jackplate though which allows me to lower it in there. But that’s how I do it.
Good one. I use a oil vacuum pump to suck out the old oil on my Yamaha. It's a lot less messy, and then you don't have to remove the lower cover. Just my $0.02.
Steve Dechant hey Steve. Do you think using the oil pump will get all of the old oil out? How far does the hose go down into the engine?
Duke wondering that myself. Did you ever find out? This Q was 2 years ago LOL!!
Use oil pump to extractr old oil from the dip stick tube, less hassel, less mess and you don't have to remove cowl or mess with drain bolt. You over-tightened the filter. Only needs a 1/4 turn after seating.
Great video!
Great video. About to save me some money.
nice job young man 👍👍
nice channel, but how did you get the oil off the concrete, i put some milk crates under the pan, it dose come out quick, parts vu is a good deal,
I have the 200 SHO and I'm wondering when should I service the lower unit and I have another question does your 250 piss water like its clogged up? Like mine barely comes out not like my mercury used to piss hard AF.
How do you like the sho...have you had any problems and how many hours do you have on the motor...... looking to get one..

Cause if you drop it or crack it or damage it in anyway, You'll be totally pissed as hell when you find out what its gonna cost to replace it or fix it!!! You'll be shitfaced pissed all to hell!! Trust me on this, I ain't jivin!!!!
Damm whats the price on a new one?
@@mp5kfisher241 2,000 ask me how i know !
@@chrissurovic3543 $2,000 ??? Ho lee shat!!!
Shouldn’t really surprise me, everything on a boat is expensive!!
How do you like the motor pros and cons I've never had a Yamaha
good video man.
great video bud.
use an oil extractor,, its alot cleaner..
Did your motor make oil...and for how long
Yamaha outboards make oil when running at low rpm or idol for a longer period of time. Guys that troll a lot will see it. It’s normal and thats why you don’t want to max it out.
Great!
that shirt is toast! lol.
Making oil....(;..it delutes the oil with fuel is the proper term.
overall that's a horrible design for routine maintenance.....have this engine now but had the Merc on last boat -- way better design on the merc
Wut , the engine can make some oil ? LOL
actually, Yes. so to speak.
it happens when the fuel leaks into the engine block. it mixes with the oil and makes the oil level higher than normal.
engine making oil is what the term is for that scenario.
@@je12b sounds like it would need new rings then?
To bad you messed up your Maui Jim shirt.
Another video running motor on flush hose. Wish y’all would quit passing on a incredible bad habit. Y’all gonna get someone to blow up a motor.
Isn’t this hose for flushing out the intake when it’s clogged?? I’ve never seen anyone run an outboard engine without the muffs 😂
