Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were 10yo when the wall was broken. And they enlisted in the army at 12yo, it's the minimum age requirement to enlist in the army. All recruits must pass the balancing test to be able to join the army training as using a 3D maneuver gear is a must for all soldiers. They'll be training as soldier for 3 years. The titans didn't break the 2nd wall. The first gate they broke was the gate to Shiganshina District. It's a district protruding from wall Maria to serve as a bait to titans. The 2nd gate they broke was the gate to wall Maria. So basically humanity lost only the 1st wall.
Master is a bit far fetched since he's clearly still trying to balance a lot (swinging back and forth) while people like Sasha, Mikasa and jean had no big problem staying absolutely still.

I'm italian and I watched AoT in my language. I feel like in some moments the subtitles you have make the story harder to understand compared to what happened to me, it does not seem the best translation to explain some context

If a soldier mid swing just loses balance and a titan is nearby that will not only be 90% death for him but also will disturb up all other soldiers position and moral so it is a must to master . 8:21 Well its has been 2 years and even those 2 years as children they had to live hardships with no parents and no homes so for the first time things have started to feel normal to them and they can get food free as soldier candidates too .

Rewatching Attack on Titan is so funny. There are so many little things that you only see on a rewatch.
