I wish we could somehow have both this song and Barbara 2.0. This one because of how emotional and sweet it is. Barbara 2.0 because "We are NOT aluminum siding people!" and other iconic moments.
I agree! Or even a combined number with both. BUT this song is meant to highlight the miscarriage the Maitlands had in the original DC version of Beetlejuice the Musical. And in the end of the song, the last verse "The daughter we didn't have" is supposed to symbolize the love Barbara is starting to have for Lydia. So the cut songs that made it in the DC version but not the Broadway musical, is adding a lot more depth to the musical. Like many people say: the musical is not made for ordinary people🤷🏼♀️
Fun Fact: This song was cut considering the back story. Barbara was pregnant with a baby girl but the baby died with Adam and Barb. The baby isnt a ghost as well because well, she wasnt developed completely
Where did you get that info? oo I've heard the cut part of Ready Set in which she mentions a miscarriage, but I've never read or heard of her being pregnant at the time of her death before..
betao567 My friend told me she was going to have a baby and then had a miscarriage before Adam and Barbara had a chance to have another kid they died. Also the original Ready set, not yet was a lot sadder.
@@leahrose2914 Yeah that's the cut scene stuff that I'm familiar with^^ They had a miscarriage, which is mentioned in a different version of Ready Set, but Barbara wasn't pregnant at the time of her death. (They hadn't tried again yet because they were still grieving the loss of their baby and afraid that it might happen again or that they might fail as parents later on.) :(
This song reminds me so much of my uncle and aunt. They tried it all to have children, then she got pregnant but had a miscarriage. And even after years of therapy they never tried again. Once I called my aunt "mom" by mistake and she came to me crying and hugged me. They were always there for me, they helped me with things my parents don't even know about. They would have been amazing parents. Life is so unfair.
every single time i listen to this i start uncontrollably sobbing, like it isnt a tear, it is full of sobbing. i used to never know why people had a go-to cry song, well i now have my go-to cry song.
When Adam, Barbara, and Lydia met, I already had the feeling that they were going to see eachother as family, Barbara and Adam would be parents figure to Lydia, and Lydia would be the kid they never had to them. But in the end, they never actually said something that proved my point, except in the end when they start to live together and are kind of a family. I wish they kept this song, yes, Barbara 2.0 is iconic, but thins song is more emotional and shows how much they care about Lydia and would do anything for her
when Barbara sings they laugh on swings, wish for things i'm not supposed to know. I'm pretty sure wish for things is supposed to be whisper things i'm not supposed to know.
I’m kinda glad they didn’t keep this song, it’s so sad and there’s no light hearted way to look at it. The musical itself is based on something very sad but they make it and look at it in such a funny way but this just kinda changed the whole dynamic of the play. So sad
I can see as to why they got rid of this song, also considering here he said "we already lost so much." but in Barbra 2.0 he said "we got nothing to loose we can finally begin." It wouldn't really make sence
Oh, sweety, I'm so sorry to hear it( Be strong! I understand your feelings. I bet, your grandma is so proud of you!))) I mentally hugging you))) 💗💗💗 Yeah, forgive me for mistakes, my English is bad😅
After the Maitlands open the handbook for the recently deceased. Right after Lydia leaves them in the attic, but before the exorcism. Hope that makes sense.
podrían haberla puesto luego de beautiful sound , cuando por fin solo podrían pensar en lo que significa estar muerto , por que con beej que vino nada más murieron , no pensaron tanto en eso entonces me parecería el mejor momento

ChaosKilledTheDinosaurs thank you, I was typing by what I heard from the audio.
Did you take down the Dead mom dc? And iont mean the reprise

Yeah if they didn't convey the same message they'd be a great contrast to each other

I’m not crying you’re crying...
Okay maybe we’re both crying.
Aria Blue I cried so much editing this together. My heart feels too much.

the way she called Lydia her daughter is making me cry like a punched baby.
I get the reference
Maybe the punched baby is why they had a miscarriage

truly , i love found family tropes 🙁💞
I WISH THEY HAD KEPT THIS IT'S SO POWERFUL
“Or maybe 15...” WOW IM CRYING

ow i'm sorry, are they okay now ?
I’m guessing that’s why they didn’t include this song
"Daughter we didn't have, I'm here"........ I'm not crying, I've just got allergies. YOURE CRYING!
every single time i listen to this i start uncontrollably sobbing, like it isnt a tear, it is full of sobbing. i used to never know why people had a go-to cry song, well i now have my go-to cry song.

me: *crying real tears*
my mom: *walks in* it's your cousins birthday, call him
me: *in tears on the phone* happy birthday
He was so confused right?
It would be cool if someone had footage of this song of it on stage but for now we can just imagine what they are doing on stage.
I love Kerry Butler!
Who doesn’t?
We all do
If im correct, its "whisper things" and "the mother that never was, that's me" 💕💕

Wow.... I have literally been crying for 20 minutes straight because of this song..... dang
The daughter we didn’t have moved in that’s deep 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I’m losing my shit I love this song
when Barbara sings they laugh on swings, wish for things i'm not supposed to know. I'm pretty sure wish for things is supposed to be whisper things i'm not supposed to know.
I wish they kept this song and arc. I would’ve been crying in the theater
Me too. I don't think I would've been able to enjoy the rest of the show because of how much I would've been crying.
This make me cry even more than “home” you now the song how to make a theater cry 101
THIS SONG BRINGS ME AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF PAIN AND AGONY AND MISERY
I thought I was the only one.
This song makes me tear up no matter how much i listen to it. Mama Would causes a similar reaction.
This song makes me cry 🥺 I really wish they kept this one in
God, I should have taken my eye makeup off before listening to this song. That's is soooo sad!!!!
when i first listened to this i had mascara smudges all over my face! the saddest but most powerful song!
WHY DID THEY CUT THIS SONG? My feeeeeelllllssss.
They cut it because it was pretty dark for a comedy musical but I’m still mad
I literally get chills every time I listen to this song. EVERY. GOD. DAMN. TIME. It’s hauntingly beautiful.
I wish they had kept this. I would have been weeping while listening though haha

I’m sobbing goodbye✌️
No cause if this song made it to the actual show later on, I’ll be bawling my eyes in the theater 😭😭
This song will never fail to make me sob uncontrollably
IM NOT CRYING. THERES SMOKE IN MY EYES, THATS ALL.
oh my goddddd I’m cryingggggg
I’m totally not crying...
This is so powerful because I lost my grandma only 3 months ago 😔
I know this is late, but I'm so sorry. I hope you're doing better now.

*sadness noises*
Im a late commenter but ive been crying to this song all day today and i love the song.
I’m crying.
Hoo boy, look at all these tears-
In what point does this song could have happened in the story?
After the Maitlands open the handbook for the recently deceased. Right after Lydia leaves them in the attic, but before the exorcism. Hope that makes sense.
isn’t it the song they had instead of barbara 2.0? i’m not sure though
Eloise L yeah it is, I should’ve just said that instead 😂
