How to Get Shovel as a Free Summon for Any Class

- Hi! Here's how to get Shovel as a free summon for an class.
My Honour Mode runs:

It can be wizard, warlock, and non-draconic sorcerers. Though I heard a recent patch change allows any sorc(I have not confirmed). The requirements seem to be 1) must keep name as shovel. Draconic sorcerer did not work because it has a special dragon dialog instead of normal shovel rename dialog. 2) After "Just shovel is fine" exit dialog and talk again for the spell shite dialog. The mirror/location has nothing to do with it. You can summon and get spell shite in camp without leaving camp. You can also do it in act 3 (lamp) without ever seeing the mirror/basement.
I've only scribed the scroll as Wizard, never tried to summon and recruit her.
Not sure why I did it like this (the laboratory), always ended up doing the same thing and since it worked I've never really bothered to do it differently :)

@@FriendlyLich Yea, I learned through the same outdated reddit post. All the big youtubers seem to as well... But since I learned the easy way I usually respec at withers. Have gale scribe. Do the dialog. Fix respec without leaving camp at all.
@@FirstLast-qg7xn That is probably it! I think I'll leave this up though and just pin one of the comments which states working classes. I get questions about it occasionally so it's good to link that to something that (I personally know) works and isn't 10 minute of video for something that should be short.
Storm sorcerer and wild mage sorcerer both scare Shovel. They get different dialogue in the first conversation, and Shovel won't give them the summon.
Shovel also won't lie to them about the mirror.
I tried both just a few weeks ago.
Can you explain the last sentence? "You can also do it in act 3 (lamp) without ever seeing the mirror/basement." I never used Shovel's scroll because I have no "spell shite" in my permanent party. I'm currently in act 3 and if there's a way to still get Shovel for my main character, I'd like to, I'm in honor mode though so can't experiment. The "(lamp)" in your comment has me confused, though.

Sometimes she will bug out and never give you the summoning dialogue. This can be fixed by either long resting or entering the mountain pass. You just have to make sure she doesn’t die until then

It works with Wizard, Warlock or Draconic Sorcerer. Does NOT work with Storm or Wild Magic Sorcs, as Shovel is afraid of their magic. You will know it worked if you get the "Oh! A Spell shite!" dialogue from her on the second conversation. If you get the "See? Trust me Beefy. Always" then it didn't work.
I did see, but have not tried it yet, that a Wizard can learn the spell and then cast it and let someone else talk to her to get the permanent summon, but can't confirm.
Last time I checked draconic sorc didn't work because it gave the "are you a dragon?" dialog where you can troll her into flapping her "wings". I read somewhere that they changed it to work now but I haven't tested tested in a while.
@@FirstLast-qg7xn It works only as a Draconic Sorc, but you have to not choose any of the dragon specific answers. When she comments on your scent, just tell her she smells like shit (or whatever the actual dialogue is) and then stay on track with the regular answers to get her.
@@The_Real_Fomsie That very well maybe. My last test was both a while ago and non-exhaustive but iirc the dragon dialog path had no options for rename.
Odd because I’m on a wizard and I got the “See? Trust me Beefy. Always” dialogue after doing all the steps. But it still worked because the permanent summon spell still showed up in my “common” abilities tab.
@@Noir.e If you memorize the scroll as a Wizard, it is slightly different, as you get it permanently regardless.
