It seems to be a 'Russians playing Baroque' kind of day for me (having just binge-listened to Igor Zhukov's incredible 1966 recording of the c-minor Passacaglia & Fugue). I've noticed and admired Batagov's Baroque playing before. One note, tho: I'm quite a fan of this piece, but it's often (as here) misidentified as by Purcell; it's actually by P's contemporary William Croft. There's also a beautiful guitar transcription on Yt played by Nataly Makovskaya (who also credits Purcell). Are there any Bach festivals coming up in the Rodina? I should follow in Tucker Carlson's footsteps & pop over.
Such a nice sound! ❤
