I gotta say, I love the actress that plays Jia Gui Fei. You can feel the regret and the growth as she says that whole spiel of wishing she hadn't done all the evil things because all it leaves is emptiness
She’s so beautiful without the heavy makeup.
I feel so sorry for her.. Loveless Marriage to an emperor, eternally devoted to her love (yu clan leader) only to be deserted by him in the end, her bid to survive amongst the intrigues of palace including khwansha (he is no sage), Only to die in the end with no honour. Forbidden Palace how have you not sinked in the tears of all these women?
@@cubemissy even concubine rong (princess of xinxiang), she too is so beautiful ...
That woman is gorgeous🥰😍
Sons got dukedoms so I wouldn't considered them as abandoned. Anyway, this actress is gorgeous and her Jia was great villain. The character will be missed.
She looks like korean.
@@loulou2302 she was from korean tribe
They were not financially abandoned, but in every other way yes. Physically, emotionally, mentally, etc. To go from such a prestige Prince title of royal heir lineage to a Duke (which can be bestowed onto anyone really) is drastic. The brothers were written out of the royal family tree too, so all blood/familial ties are severed.
The Emperor still supports them financially but no longer acknowledge them as his sons. They lost their prince titles.
He left then to the nannies. With no assigned mother. They will also be outcasts because they are part Korean/Joseon. They can’t go to Joseon either. Even the real culprit’s daughter was rehomed to another of the noble concubines. These kids were looked after by servants who had no reason to bother since they were not going to arise in status. No mother to protect them either. Family member’s crime is cast down to the kids and parents and grandparents. Empress was kind in speaking up for them. If not for politics and being sons of his body they may have been killed. They will be shunned and mistreated for the sins of their mother. But they can be envied for being safely outside of this nonsense. They will no longer be targeted for assassination..
It would be lovely to see the actress playing Jia Gui Fei get a starring role where she isn't evil.
She was born for the role lol
i kinda feel like her look is too bold, in Chinese dramaland, to not be a villain. in hollywood, if race wasnt a thing, i think she could be like Angelina Jolie. a badass. her look is just drop dead gorgeousness.
@@kyunghi What are you talking about? The actress isn't part of that cast at all. jia is played by Xin Zhilei, she isnt part of he Nothing But Thirty cast. I think you're talking about the actress who play Noble Consort Gao.
4th princes relationship with his brothers are so cute, most royal princes spend their time together fighting and guarding against one another.
I think that is mostly because they are full siblings. But he was also pretty nice to Yonqi, though he was arrogant.
@@Jen321able it sounds a lot like his mom’s personality tbh, that boastfulness.
In a Harem full of prince and princesses, there's bound to some exceptional good natured kids who gets along with all the siblings.
I don't know how many of these clips I've watched but I'm hooked! Hook, line and sinker, I can't stop! The production, the writing and script, the actors male and female everything is top notch! The best thing I've seen in a very, very long time.
You said it! I’m about to start from ep 1
Me too Dawg.. Completely hooked... I keep watching in bits and pieces as and when RUclips recommends. These actresses can enact sad scenes so very well that I feel I'm going through that. Sad that I cannot watch it series wise.
You can find full episodes on you tube
If you have Prive Video you can watch the full series.
It's pretty long.
About 80+ episodes of 1hr.
Think of 10 episodes as 1 full season
So its 8 seasons long
@@stargifttarakasha1356 I’ve already watched the whole series with English subtitles on RUclips. It’s good
Poor children, but after seeing how everything ended, in a way they were set free and probably they have a happy life keeping distance from the emperor.
And some do live on well, but the rest of the children don't fair out well
Her children didn't inherit her wit but they grew up kind
Lucky they are prince if princess maybe will follow her footsteps
fourth prince was one of the most brilliant princes among Qianlong’s sons
@@stars_who_knows9254 didn't one if them died in the series?
@@eroupopper yeah. she still has three sons though. The one who died was a baby
Yongcheng and Yongxin were well liked and very talented but Yongxuan sadly grew up to be a womanizer and a drunk. But Yongxuan also outlived all his siblings, he died in 1832 at the age of 86.
Once again Hailin showing her love for Ruri even her son is like you love her more then me.
its so crazy how death is seen so lightly back then like, "Oh a concubine died, gotta get a new one"
well... at least she recognized her sins before she died, I kinda feel sorry for her
The actress who plays Jia is masterful. I hated Jia but I felt so sad for her.
Ruyi's voice is so soothing
The way Jia died is truly sad. That conversation with herself, heartbreaking. Sighhh another one bites the emperor’s dust 😞😒
But let's not forget, she was the best villain in the series.
Its hard for me to conceive ShuJai as a villain and not a victim to this system. Mind you, she was the only consort of the Emprorer who was Korean born. She bore the Emprorer the most sons. I think the villianization of the character was intentional because....well China
The actress gave a powerful performance that made me both hate and love this woman.
Your right about that. If South Korea made a drama about her. It would’ve been a different story, she would’ve been a victim to tribute to China. Since China forced Korea give up a lot of virgin girls as tribute because they are offering to the Chinese Emperor or some other things. And most of those girls never wanted be force away from their homeland to never see their family again.
Exactly lmao. The nuances of an entire harem full of essentially Chinese (albeit of different ethnicities) women mocking and shit-talking a Korean woman and her clan is pretty racist, although unsurprising considering this is a Chinese drama (and I'm saying this as a Chinese person). They even have an entire plot about her having only one "true" servant from her maiden (Korean) clan, but they cast it as her wanting to use that servant for her skills (as a doctor's daughter) instead of her wanting a companion who can understand her circumstances. Consort Jia is villainous in her actions, but the context behind (1) her isolation and the likely racism she suffered (2) the way the historical harem worked in terms of pitting women against women makes it clear that she was just as much a victim in her own way.
It hits so deep when I saw her dressed the way she used to when she was happiest. When she was just a gege of the Yu clan, spending her days with the Yu clan’s heir
Wow that’s pretty messed up the crazy ass King not caring about the kids but just doing a bunch of a women and who cares less sad smh
grammar so pathetic, I can't even be sure if this is English only.

When I see those three brothers together, holding each other and the elder one protecting his sibiling my heart cry😢😥😥😥😥😥💝💖
I feel bad for the kids, 4th prince now has a baby, he needs to take care younger siblings too, they ought to grow up without mother and emperor neglets them. No difference than an orphans. Very good casting, 4th prince has similarity with Jia/Kim.
Serves him right, to have a headache and “tiredness.” Having so many women in the harem and not being fair or firm in protecting them gave him endless headaches. Suffer on. The actual people suffering are the innocent children he produced and the few good women in the harem. All pawns in his bid for power.
But this man is really not fair to ruyi, whenever she wants something conserning her, he trys to to stop her, whenever she's investigating about something thing conserning her, she prevents her from doing it 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Does he even know how much pain does ruyi have inside her 😢😢😢
So interesting that all the mayor consorts, that where enemies of Ruyi, have a scene after their death when a tree is shown. Jia got this beautiful tree in autumn and Hui got the Tree with the peacocks.
I didn't notice that until now! That cool
There is that one ling left, very dengerous🙄
History has Jia Gui Fei as the most beautiful concubine among the current group. And her children grew up safely and kind.
These women can act. I love this show.
She was the most beautiful... I wish she was on team Ruyi
I keep getting asmr tingles from these videos, I can’t understand at all, but it’s so soothing 💙💙🔥
I love how the language sounds. It’s so relaxing but powerful
I think it's the quiet voices and the focus on good foley, like the footsteps and the soft sounds everyone's mouth makes when they speak! I have the same feeling. 😊✨
When I was a kid I used to always get those warm fuzzy feelings when I watch these old Chinese period dramas bc they always lull me to sleep lol
No unnecessary dramatic scene but it has more impact. ❤
After watching all these video clips - beautiful cinematography, exquisite costumes, outstanding acting, -- but these are some seriously petty greedy people!
The Emperor loves everybody except for Ruyi who gave up her life for a man who let her know over and over you are nothing to me though you gave up your life. Not to mention her children. That is why I do not believe the story at all.
Though it was beautifully done. And I love the acting so very much. Superb
I feel bad for the kids. They had nothing to do with the murders but they had to suffer
I think jin yuyan and ruyi could have been great friends if not for their circumstances and life in the palace. No offence just fleeting thoughts.
Thats a lot of memorization of names and things and happenings. Crazier than Game of Thrones this is! Exciting!
And the ending was hell of a lot better the Game of Thrones
The Emperor was a horrible father. Their mother died, but he did not consult them and separated them.
Suffering knows no bounds. Inside the palace and outside the palace walls. What you sow that is what you will reap for sure. Having so many wives and concubines and making eunuchs of perfect straight men and forcing them to live under the garb of unhappiness all their lives is an atrocity, a crime against humanity. Why was that tolerated in that era?
To continue a royal bloodline that will be passed down to generations, as a ruler of China at the time. Some successful ruled, others failed.
Rulers of many countries had only 1 wife, & Many children.
Did not turn men into eunuchs either. It was a cruel system, alot of countries were cruel in one way or another in ancient times. So glad to be living in this time.
The story was good but i hate the fact that the king is disregarding the women ,and the whole story is about power and making the king feel all the pleasure ,i guess that is why its called harem..
But the king wasn't really happy at all. He had to hide his feeling put on airs and pretend to be noble for the country. It's sad for everyone
@@eroupopper nah the king might be sad but he most definitely thrives in this mysgontic and sexist system
Father of the year right there
*vomit
Well done acting love the characters
When Every Consorts death will be end dramatic
That was wrong of the father to abandoned these children
Why did concubine Wei's son become crown prince and not end up abandoned like Jias? Seems like Wei did a lot worse.
@Dylan Holt Hey I'm trying to make sense of the drama's logic. Concubine Wei was likely very capable and could have been a good person in real life.
Maybe that’s bc he’s the only one left?
Edit: I just remembered that Yongji was really small when he got separated from his mom. Perhaps the king thought that’s enough to stop her influence on his thinking.
Also, denying any of Jia’s sons to become king is an esp harsh punishment for Jia, who cannot ever be queen bc of her heritage.
Because her son was young still and never really schemed against his father, was only really brainwashed when he was young, unlike Yongcheng, who was involved in that dangerous fake assasination attempt to earn favor. Also, when it came time for the Emperor to choose an heir (secretly) most of his sons were either ineligible or had died early, so he did not have a lot of options, and Yongyan was his choice.
Because Qian Long was so old when he finally stepped down, most of his favored sons already passed. People try to pass off the succession as proof that Ling was the most favored consort, but there were simply few options by that time
@Dylan Holt LMAO, Yanxi Palace is a dumb idol drama. That's not an accurate portrayal, if anyone in ancient China tried to pull the audacious crap the Ling there pulled, they'd be dead before the Emperor can bang them.
At least Jia was given a posthumous title and her children given dukedoms. All that suffering, calculation and misery for a couple of titles. Unfortunately, this was the most a woman could ask for back then.
Yes, but her posthumous title, "Shujia" is a Chinese homophone for the word "loser." So, the Emperor was making it known what he thought of her, albeit in a backhanded compliment kind of way.

oh so Noble Consort Chun had already fallen from grace?
also that jade double ring tho...I know only Koreans wear that kind of accessory, called _ssang garakji_ (쌍가락지), which consists of 2 heavy rings usually made of either silver, jade, or enamel inlay
That’s cause her character was Korean
@@justarandommeow3296 that was Consort Jia? is that a flashback or what...?
The Qianlong Emperor did have a concubine who was Korean.
@@christinecameron1612 ethnic Korean descent actually, because Consort Jia (Lady Gingiya) was already far removed from her Joseon roots by the time she became part of Qianlong's harem
if you're talking about Korean concubines:
-Yuan Dynasty: *Empress Qi* was originally a tribute offering from Goryeo, became Emperor Toghon Temür's concubine, and became his Empress once Empress Danashri was removed (later exiled & poisoned) due to her brother Tangqici's failed rebellion. Viewed as a villain by the Korean people for supporting her husband's policies on Goryeo, as well as her family's attempt to supplant their own by removing from the Dragon Throne King Gongmin of Goryeo (who, with support from his Mongolian wife Princess Noguk of the Borjigit clan, a great³ granddaughter of Kublai Khan, was advocating independence from Yuan, as Goryeo was a _quda_ (Mongolian "in law") state of Yuan by dint of the Mongol invasions in the 11th century)
-Ming Dynasty:
1. Yongle Emperor was supposed to have a preference for Korean women, due to the fact that his harem had *7 Korean concubines (originally tribute offerings from Joseon)*
2. Xuande Emperor had *1 Korean concubine (also a tribute offering from Joseon)*
Interestingly, Yongle's Consort Li (麗妃) & Xuande's Lady Gongshen (恭慎夫人) were sisters (Consort Li was the elder sister), and were also the paternal aunts of Queen Sohye (commonly known as Dowager Queen Insu; her father Han Hwak was the sisters' older brother), mother of the future King Seongjong of Joseon
I watched the entire thing from the beginning to end, I loved it. Well worth investing the time.
I feel bad for Jia...
I wonder if the emperor became so uncaring because he had so many losses he couldn’t take anymore. Most of his kids were murdered by people he trusted. Some of his concubines too were also murdered. That is a huge psychological problem. On top of that, he was trying to rule a nation. The horrible things that happened in his home could break anybody.
