One of my favorite scenes with Noble Consort Chun was when she ever so subtly tried to nudge Hailan after she mentioned Ruyi (still in Cold Palace) because she didn't want Hailan to lose Emperor's positive attention.. Noble Consort Chun was such a gentle soul

9:48 that dear empress never breaks character of calling her by the great honor name of Nobel consort Chun and speaking to her as if she were still alive. Then when she calls he by her name of Luyun as if speaking to close friend. Made the tears escape my eyes. 💜
Remember how these two ladies were very best friends in the harem from early days. She even took care of rujis son while she was in the cold palace. Ruji let her keep raising him after she came out. She forgave her because she was there at the end. She loved him like her own son. Many of the ladies liked her. Ruji brought her best clothes to be laid out. Chun only survived her by three months.
Even as she died Chun thought of her son, “your mother can’t protect you anymore”. It’s so heartbreaking to me how others have said similar before dying. That they can’t protect someone anymore.
Her son was her life and few months later he joins her finally again..A mother and son bond from birth to death.
She was one of the more peaceful and calm women at first SMH.
One of the best episodes for Actress Hu Ke, the way she portrayed and acted out her emotions. She nailed in this episode especially in the scene where she was kneeling outside in the rain and coughing blood. Her character has been lacklustre and mediocre. It always surprises me how the ending she pushed the bar up for Zhou Xun.
In this clip Zhou xun facial expressions shown sadness, confusion and even a little bit of anger. Perhaps she felt that huang gui fei should have not died unjustly. Barely speaking she had spoke the dialogue with her very expression. The chemistry between Hu Ke and Zhou Xun here is exemplified! Another stellar performance was when Zhuo Xun (empress) was feeding Li Qin(Han Lady)… and one wonders y Zhuo xun is a respected actress in the chinese industry!
I don't think her character was lackluster I think she had a calming and mild spirit at first.

Chun Gui Fei, I empathize for her and for the unjust sufferings she has gone through. It's a good thing she can be free although sad that death is her only way out....
At 4:56 Jingse says her mother would've kept the girls in the Harem in tow, but baby girl didn't know that if Langhua was still alive, she would just turn a blind eye.
To be fair Empress Xiaoxian did better in managing the harem than Ruyi. Ruyi were too lacking in ambition and let everyone loosely, I mean she could have actively scheme against Ling before she killed everyone. She didn't care about losing his Majesty's favour. And she didn't really care about her position as Empress.

However, while her temperament was quite unsuited to dealing with troublemakers, she did exert herself to punish Wei Yanwan whenever she stirred up problems, from the deer-blood wine incident, to Shu Fei’s death and the escape to Mulan grounds. She went so far as to sentence her to death while they were on their southern tour. Jin Yuyan suffered numerous punishments for her obnoxious behavior too. Ruyi knew when enough was enough imo.
During the reign of Empress Fuca, for the most part everyone was terrified of Gao Xiyue’s temper, and didn’t really cause a problem, Bai Ruiji being the exceptions, and look how it turned out for her. Poor Yi Pin too. Langhua let the troublemakers get away, and had it easier since they were all behind her.
@@my0majesty0el Meh, Langhua was actually laughable. She was so petty and small-minded, and hardly effective, she just had bitchy bloodhounds Gao and Jia do the work for her and her family backing. In fact, she seemed constantly at a loss, her own stupidity causing her children's deaths, and someone as silly as Mei managed to push her towards her death.

All those women died young except Hailan Yu she died at 78 she was better off when the emperor lost interest in her after her son died who was his favorite actually. They say she was scared of him anyway which means she really didn't like him or care for his approval which made her live longer. Most of the sons died around age 25 too which I think is pretty strange Consort Ling's youngest son died at 86 he was the longest-lived.
Makes me wonder too. They could gotten sick in the past but could be harmed. History is written by the winner could be true

Actually two of the sons of consort Ling died before five yrs old, both Yongyan, the emperor, and his brother Yonglin died in 1820, about 60 and 54 years old.
The most longlived was Yongxuan, a son of Jia (?) who died in 1832, 86 yrs old.
A lot of children died before 5 yrs, and the oldest daughter did not reach 50. (Edit:) Correction the oldest died at 61, (sorry, made a note wrong).
Daughters seem to have been likely to die in their 20ies, if they survived the toddler years.

@@thaothelazycat930 children born outside of royalty are more likely to survive into adulthood despite the lack of medical advances. It’s because in the royal family they tend to in bred by marrying their cousins, relatives etc.

@@書華-e9p 其实如懿封后之前她们谈过话，当时纯贵妃就已经认命了。后期一直只求母子安稳，但是乾隆因为那朵珠花怀疑纯妃有份害死皇后，加上丧礼上的事，乾隆心中厌弃他们母子，再没给他们好脸色看。纯妃从头到尾其实没做恶事，疼自己亲生孩儿多些也是人之常情。
大概就是說這樣一般心性的女子在宮裡即使不鬥也是黯然而逝
纯贵妃最大的错误导致报应是因为她没有强硬的母族后台，没有得力的皇子，却妄想因为资历而成为皇后。她其实什么也没做，没害死一个人，只是稍微受人诱惑去争宠，而且也只是一段小插曲，再者就是因为珠花被人陷害的事情。可是和其他人比起来根本微不足道，却引来那么大的祸害，就是因为没有争气的上一代和好的下一代。她能够做到贵妃的位置，一是资历，二是因为肚皮争气儿女双全福泽延绵。并不是因为母族厉害皇上需要利用，或者是孩子被皇上看重。她自己也不是被皇上喜欢的那种。
富察皇后有母族，颖妃有母族谁也不敢动她们，皇上都不敢多骂几句，生怕颖妃一个不生气，蒙古四十九部全部不高兴。嘉贵妃孩子争气，一次次得皇上喜爱，随时可以回去妃位，只是做的太过火导致报应。而纯妃就只有一人争气，没人扶持却妄想，一次就要了她的命。

How this lady Chun became sick?
There is a lot of different aspects that are being told in the drama. The first shock is after when the First Empress had died. The Emperor misunderstands her and her son by suspecting that they have the intention of taking over the throne. ( which she didn't, it was the evil consort's trap. She was the one who told the Emperor that she had the intention. ). That's was the first shock and in reality in ancient times, when you lose the Emperor's attention you are basically being treated as a commoner. The food being treated will still be okay but elsewise it will be totally the same as a commoner. So like the early injury plus the outer treatment which can worsen her condition. These different aspects were all being addressed in the Drama.
Yep! Just like what Stephanie said, and I highly suspect and believe that Chun had depression and lost hopes in the emperor as well.
I think it was years of stress and anxiety for both her and 3rd prince .. after wat happened They were always living on eggshells having to say and do the right things to stay on the emperors good side. It’s esp sad for 3rd to me anyway cause he doesn’t get why the emperor never sees anything good in what he says or does
Both Chun Lüyun & her son had lifelong lung disease with coughing up blood.
This was in the 1700's & other characters had tuberculosis, so they may have too.
They could have had some other chronic infectious lung disease, possibly fungal.
Other possibilities include connective tissue & autoimmune diseases with inflammation of the small blood vessels in the lungs.
Stress doesn't cause every disease.
