Hi Justin, I appreciate this is an old video but I finally took the plunge and got myself a HP Mixed reality headset. Initially I watched a another video that made it sound simple to get working, but they neglected to mention the $600 per year software required. I even downloaded it and it didn't work. Then I remembered this video of yours and tried VRSketch. Wow - after 20+ years of designing houses and extensions, I virtually sat in a space that hadn't been built. It was truly fascinating. I even loaded a model of a residential estate I was asked to design in Sketchup (24 residential 2-4 bed units) and it was so bizarre to walk around the 'neighbourhood'. So in conclusion, thank you again - perhaps you can try out a few plugins and provide a VR update? I have a perpetual Sketchup Pro licence and I believe this means I'm not able to use the built in SU VR, until I'm pushed into the subscription licence. All the best, Chris 👍
Finally. My limited knowledge of this is why the Oculus Rift sits on the shelf here. I don't want to pay $50/month to Iris, the only software I've seen so far that allows for importing a sketchup model into the VR environment. Being able to move around inside changes everything. Building smaller or "Tiny" houses requires precise locations of doors, drawers, lighting, light switches etc., that is easy in VR but difficult to get right in any legacy process. Latest design includes an electric elevator. I've built a dozen houses but never one with an elevator, especially residential. Three stops, sometimes there will be an "open to below" drop/space of 18'. One floor has access out both sides of the elevator. Walls are shrunk to 2 3/4" wide with exposed pocket doors etc., to save space. Two insulated spaces (house and sunroom) mean lots of glass and reflections that all have to be "vetted". What better way than to look through them? This is very good.
Honestly one of the best extensions that I have used! I have found so many design solutions by viewing my models in 1:1 scale Now I can't model without it! I would be handicapping myself if I did

Hi Justin. It's amazing the tools we have now. I need to try this one on my windows partition of my Mac. I wrote to VR sketch 3 weeks ago asking them if it might work with my set-up... They responded that it might work, and to let them know about my results. As soon as I get some free time, I will try it for sure. It looks amazing. Thanks for the great review of this tool.
Make sure to download the newest version - when I first tested it a few weeks ago, it didn't have any kind of right or left turning with the thumbsticks - I mentioned it to them that it was a bit uncomfortable for me without the turning, and they actually updated the app and released a new version the following week incorporating the feature! I was impressed with how quickly they were able to make the change, and I really enjoyed using the app after they made the change. Tons of fun :)

I'm going to somehow justify the purchase as soon as possible and I hope at some point, they'll allow a walkthrough facility as that'll make it perfect. Great job.
Thanks very much - really appreciate it - one thing I always make sure to tell people when they start to get into VR is to make sure their hardware can handle it - being able to render at 90 frames per second is really important, so make sure you're prepared to invest in a PC with a powerful graphics card if you don't have one - that said, it truly is an amazing technology, especially when done properly!
