your movie is a billion-dollar idea, but if you made Dex addicted to tiktok, vapes and made him scared of women, we'd be talking in the trillions

This is a more serious comment, so if you're having a rough day, just move on by and I sincerely hope it gets better for you:
I watched a fantastic deep dive into why these atrocious complicated sad sad people in these films seems to attract a specific type of crowd and how there isn't much we can do about it because they're so steeped in the black pill that it doesn't matter.
Movies like this, with complex male lead "bad ass" (Edge Lord/Sigma) characters meant to be extremely troubled and frankly not right in the head (and I say this in a way to imply that they need therapy, not to be dismissive. People like that do exist, they just usually aren't killers and are generally more a danger to themselves than anyone else.) have been made with nuance and show exactly how much a loser the person really is. Movies that blatantly say "this character is depressing and their end is terrible, don't idolize them" but it makes little difference.
In the video I watched, it compared Driver to Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler takes no punches in characterizing the problematic lead as deeply disturbed. He's not cool or proficient. He's socially inept, uncomfortable to watch, greasy and a lot of typical signs of unkempt mental health associations. Driver goes with a little bit more of the "This dude is absolutely messed up, but he sure looks cool." which you'd think sends the wrong message, but, thing is, for people who gravitate to "sigma" mindset, they're often too deep in. They need a different way out. We, as a society need a different way out. The conclusion the video I saw came to that was a revelation for me (and I don't use that terminology lightly) was that we need more films/shows about how life could be.
Basically, the conclusion is, more Star Trek, less Joker. We've done to death films about today's issues and struggles with rarely any answer to how to make it better. We just revel in the misery in real life and in film. And sometimes misery loves company, but if everyone is in the hole, then there is no one to help us out of it. Visit the hole, understand the people who are stuck in it and help them out.
I'm done with my phase of recognizing the wrongs in the world, the mistakes we repeat. It's time to actually do something about it, especially in media.
So, I hope the perfect "literally me" movie never gets made. We don't need more of them. And Hollywood certainly doesn't need more money.
