Loved Kimmie Meissner as co-host. One of the more interesting things with Jenny as co-host was she was a top-level skater, and always provided great insight into the technical and competitive aspects of the sport. So this was nice to watch.
So no talk about scoring between Chan and Hanyu ?Not talking about PCs but, some of the low GOEs for Hanyu and very high GOEs for PChan in FS are extremely suspect, and I don't understand how Hanyu's 3A combinations deserved less GOEs than Chan solo 3A and 4T popped to 3T ? And what about judges who gave Hanyu 0's for 4S, 3F, 3lz, 4T ?
So nice to have Kimmie on, such a pleasant personality! When she came to Seattle with Stars...she did a selfie with me, and when she saw that it didn't come out (she noticed from across the ice), she made eye contact and motioned for me to come back to try again! (Thanks again, KM!) I could see the two of you commentating for a major network... Thanks for all your work, Dave Lease. I am recovering from surgery and have time to enjoy more of your posts. Hope to be back on ice in 6 weeks--adult silver.
I find it kind of shocking how quick fans, skaters, and journalists have been to gloss over Gracie's comments. The fact is she didn't say that she wasn't properly conditioned or that she wasn't at her fighting weight, she said you don't see overweight skaters. She said of her performance that's why there are no fat skaters. Gracie's weight looks fine, comparable to last season and less than the season before. And it does not escape my notice how much weight she lost when she first moved to Frank. The fact that so many people defend the comments as not being problematic makes me feel like we are failing her, she literally sounds like she has body dysmorphia and people are just like oh it's fine, here is what she really meant!
TurboCMinusMinus Just because someone doesn't look "dangerously thin" doesn't mean they aren't engaging in disordered eating or that their outlook is healthy. In that moment Gracie sounded like she had an unhealthy perception about her weight and I don't get why people just glossed right over what she said. JMO.
I enjoyed Madison/Evan and Piper/Paul's programs alot. For me, Piper/Paul stole the competiton with their creative and musical programs. I think using Barry White for the midnight blues steps is brilliant. Also, I really like Chock/Bates programs. They are different than what they've done before, they are skating very well and I think Rohene Ward's choreographed SD is one of the best of the year
Dave, I miss Jenny, byt you do a great job! Thank you. And I completely agree with you in MK moments. Patrick's jump combination was exceptional, 3A throw of Megan and Eric is simply amazing, great step in pairs figure skating. P.S. Kimmie is such a lovely person :)
I Miss Kimmie!! Okay, another great video, Now you totally let Medvedeva's Short program off the hook, that's a Busted program and she skates it with no Artistry. I don't mind her Long program so much, I actually don't know what I feel about it yet, I think she shouldn't be skating to that music though, But she at least gives me a little artistic emotion. Seriously though, Thanks for the Skating lesson videos, I'm a 34 year old grown Man, and I love my Figure Skating. Proudly!!
NEVER invite Kimmie back, she wouldn't name that caller and all your TSL gobelins and gremlins want to wreck havoc on that caller and TP their home, prank phone calls in the middle of the night and let the air out of their tires before they would fly to Nationals so they miss their flight... We want TSL drama, bring in Tonya!!!
You could play whatever music you like to Evegnia's skating and the program will be the same. Very big but very sloppy jumps complete with overused but badly done tano and, really slop step sequence with slopping edges and a lot of pantomimed choreography with a blank face in between and zero connection to the music. I think tHe problem with Satoko's jumps though are she used to jump in the other direction (hence the 2-direction spins) but the Japanese Skating Federation made her change direction because they are super traditional. It's not a natural motion for her. But yeah her footwork marks were nasty.

That Chock/Bates long program was DREADFUL!!!
Just a note on Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier -- They have medaled at every GP competition they've taken part in since the 2014-15 season
Hope you bring Kimmie back as a guest host! I love her stories and her input!
Loved the show, keep up the good work!
Loved having Kimmie on the show!
Great video, Dave! Loved having Kimmie as the cohost. Her insights were interesting and I learned something from her.

She is just so lovely. Bring her back!
Love how Hanyu is the cover photo but he didn't even win
they talk about all skaters, not just the winner, so they can put any skater on cover photo. It's a bait, bro! You fell for it
This is very cool!!!!
Kimmie is a great co-host!
Love her :))
I am so glad that she addressed the weight thing. People who are not top athletes like Christine Brennan should stay in their lanes.

So what are they talking about when they mention Meryl's "sexy" ballroom dancing? When she was on Dancing with the stars or is it something else?
Matthew Garlick DWTS and her recent performances in Japan.
wow loved Kimmie, super nice cohost

i hate that half shocked/distressed/confused/troubled face evgenia does all the time
Oh Lord! Did Dave said his boyfriend? Is he gay? Would've never thought that of him!!!!
07:56 very sloppy, a hott mess...skates 1/2 way across the ice with nothing, until the jump.
