  • Join me on my first day around York, where I will be exploring all the cool hidden gems and iconic landmarks that this city has to offer.
I believe York City Walls are the best place to start your visit to this beautiful city, which is exactly what I did. The walls surround the centre of York and are approximately two miles long, perfect if you enjoying walking like me. There is a nice little view point around the north western part which has a leading path heading towards the York Minster, which is exactly where I ended up next.
After a short stroll along Low Petergate with its quirky little shops, I visited York Minster which is absolutely breathtaking, both inside and out. My favourite area inside was the Chapter House, which has a beautiful designed ceiling surrounded by huge stained glass windows. Whilst at the minster, I decided to take a little tour up to the top of York Tower, which is a hard 275 step climb. Once reaching the top, I was then surrounded by 360 degree views of York.
Just across the street from the minster was Guy Fawkes Inn, the known address of where Guy Fawkes was born back in 1570, and is now a small pub. I treated myself to a lovely hot chocolate here after that hard climb. They also do food here too...
Next on my list to visit is probably York's most well known and iconic landmark, which is the Shambles. Unsure where exactly but there is the possibility of this being linked to the Harry Potter franchise, where there are one or two shops also advertising Harry Potter styled gifts. It's a really interesting place to explore with its old architecture and independent shops. You honestly could have forever here.
As my day came to an end, it was time to get something to eat. After lots of recommendations, I decided to stop by the famous Betty's where I had a lovely pan fried salmon salad, and finished with a fresh fruit tart. I then finished my first day with visits to maybe some of Yorks less known places, the first one being museum gardens with the remains of St Mary's Abbey, followed by a stop at York Oratory, a beautiful Catholic Church located just down from York Minster.

Just came across your channel, and I enjoyed watching, so I am liking and subscribing. You did a nice job showing York, and I liked that you weren't too chatty, but still added in a bit of information. I'll be watching your other videos, as I am planning a trip to England that will include both York and London. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
