Taiwan is independent and that's that. China really cant call Taiwan a part of China after this anymore because basically everything we do is separate and different to what China did
I lived in Taiwan for a year after I graduated college and I miss it everyday. The nicest kindest people, delicious food, and beautiful scenery. It’s sad being back in the USA :(

Taiwan is under "lockdown" - they closed their borders very early on! If COVID-19 barely got into Taiwan, there's no need to lock down. If the US acted earlier, we could have a similar situation! Plus, all Taiwanese follow social distancing measures!

The question is whether or not the leader is willing to make the decision to do so. Taiwan acted on the belief that this virus is going to be bad and go to lock down mode earlier than most nations, and that is why its working in Taiwan. Because once its spreading within the community, there is really no sense keeping people from entering, what should be done then is the South Korean method, mass check and contact tracing to the finest detail.

Taiwan's healthcare is good. So much better than the US. I was a student in Taiwan for three months and the university tuition covered basically everything. I didn't have to pay for prescriptions and I was sick most of the time there because of pollution. That was the only bad thing. I should've bought a face mask and worn it the whole time like most of the citizens there. Would've saved me a lot of trouble. I don't have health insurance at the moment because I can't afford it, so I hope I don't get sick or hurt. I've never had a job that gave me health insurance because I've never worked for a company with insurance plans. I've been a nanny most of my working career after college, so I didn't have a job health insurance plan. I'm kind of afraid. One hospitalization could wipe out all my savings. I wish I'd made time to talk to my doctor about end-of-life plans. I don't want to stay alive when it means my family would have to pay my medical bills. When this is all over I'm going to talk to my doctor about all of that. I should've done it a long time ago.

I hope people know that Taiwan as been prepared for an outbreak for a little over a decade because of the SARS outbreak. Unlike most of the world, Taiwan made sure to have a medical team/plan in place in case another outbreak happened. Also, the citizens of Taiwan completely understand that what the government is doing is for their benefit. The strict guidelines and procedures aren't to oppress the people, its to protect them.
Meanwhile here in the USA, we have ppl who find it highly offensive and a human rights violation to wear a mask at the local Walmart. 🥴
