A great looking game on a splendid table...A bloody and beautiful advance, and a great defence!

I am finding these One Hour Wargames extremely rewarding (and both highly attainable, in terms of miniatures needed, for even the most ordinary collection at a gamer`s disposal). I especially like your WWII battle reports, as they are so thematic and suit this rule set particulalry well. Then again, you bring all the eras you do to life with a lovely amount of thematic immersion.

Like you I went out and bought two armies (relatively cheaply) for WWII 8th Army and Afrika Corp (will think about adding some Italians at some stage), but for me I went for 1/72nd scale as it suited my pocket (plus no multi part assembly and the figures aren`t delicate or prone to damage) and this smaller scale also suited my preferred table size. I`ve always adhered to basing my minis on single bases (a hang over I still have from a life time of `old aschool` style of gaming).. and they look so nice when singularly based). I find that watching your OHW videos is so aesthetically appealing for similar reasons. But with my new interest in WWII desert wargaming, which came about, was massively influenced, and the choice made after watching and being thrilled by your own One Hour Wargames videos… I wonder what your thoughts are on multi model based units of infantry, I dunno, perhaps three stands of 3 minis to a bases, and an extra one for leaders etc would look wonderful for each unit (multi basing does lend itself well to the smaller scales I have found in the past… but not always). Do you think it would detract from the overall feel and tone of the thing? Because I`m only just starting out in this new added period, I have the luxury of deciding which way I want to do things, but would love to hear your thoughts?

All of my figures are single bases, of the ones I paint myself. That’s because I start with the base and add a putty so the look less like toy soldiers. I’ve just painted an Australian Vietnam platoon and had decided to put 3 per base, at the last minute I stuck to what I knew. Ultimately I was happy I did.

ah, interesting. Yeah single base minis ARE really appealing in 20mm.
