    Hi Robin - love seeing this evening routine. Productive but relaxing at the same time. I make bone broth even out of carcasses from rotisserie chickens. I’ll let it go all night in the slow cooker. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that vinyl LP record. I have tons of them left over from the 70s. this week I was able to get back to zone cleaning after not being able to do it for almost a year. It felt so good to get everything clean. I emptied all the cabinets and wiped everything down, cleaned out the pantry, the oven, the microwave the refrigerator and the floors, walls and light fixtures. I got rid of two boxes of things that I was gonna drop off at the Goodwill after I went to the pool but when I was telling my friends at the pool they all wanted them. It was a bunch of Christmas serving pieces that I don’t ever use and some of those heavy pampered chef baking stones that I never use anymore. It feels so good to be able to do all that again. God is so good. Love in Christ.

    It's good to see you making broth; it really does make the best soup. I pour mine into quart freezer bags and lay them on cookie sheets to freeze flat. When frozen you can stack them flat, or stand them in a plastic box. This saves freezer space.

    What else could one possible ask for in a family. Mine is similar except it’s just me and my husband. And the best part of it all is when we involved the lord in everything we do. There should always be a place and a time for the lord. And there should be no excuse for not doing it.. thanks robin for sharing another wonderful video with us . I know exactly what you mean about pouring from a full pitcher or bowl. I have the same glass bowl with the pouring spout but when it’s full it always drips. I have learned to put whatever I’m pouring into in the sink and that way the spillage doesn’t get on the counters. Wish that I could offer better advice. This was such a peaceful video to watch. Love all the ways that you have intentionally thought through your evening routine. It looks very enjoyable. I hadn’t thought of doing my quiet times in the evening. Good idea!

    So funny, during the intro/overture of the video, I wondered if you use your pool and you do! Does Austin like the pool? Tommy will not go near ours. He used to run around and bark, as if saving us, when he was younger... he actually only stopped doing that this year in his ripe old age of 5. I'm struggling with maintaining my evening routine. I'm struggling maintaining any routine these days. Thank you for this inspiration. The soup looked so good. I'm not a soup fan, but split pea is one of the few I enjoy. I've never not used the immersion blender when making it, I'll have to try leaving it as is next time. We're only 2 days out of an atrocious heat wave here in CA, so temperatures are still 88/89, so soup is not yet a thing. Happy Sunday 💕🕊

    I would recommend ladling the bone broth in at first and then pour when it’s not so full. Yes, it’s another dirty dish but that’s too much liquid gold to be losing. Or, put the spout as close to the funnel and easing it into the jar.

    To help pour your broth into a jar: place the jar in the sink so you are not having to lift the large measuring cup. I found there are two things this process aids in the pouring (1) you can see the liquid being poured into the jars and (2) you do not have to lift in an what I consider an awkward position. This has saved me a lot of grief. Homemade broth has the BEST flavor!

    Happy Monday, Robin! I love this upload 🤗. I enjoy watching the morning and evening routines of other families around the world. I've learned that humans are basically the same in their efforts to achieve harmony inside their homes. I enjoy using my crockpot during the cooler months, and usually prepare the meal to cook overnight. As far as achieving a spill free pour for a large amount of liquid, I have a tall glass pitcher that I usually use for iced tea and will pour the liquid into that, then I will pour it into my various jars/containers. Have a great balance to your week 😁.

    Wonderful video, was really enjoyable. Does Austin get to swim in the pool also? We don't have a pool but the dog we had for years loved the water would run and get into any water near by. Was so funny he would jump in the lake nearby and the ducks would have a fit, he really wanted to play. Love your devotion time. My husband and I have ours after the night meal also. Is just a really good time to really understand it and not be disturbed during it. Have a really blessed week.🙏🌹🌷

      Thank you Melody! Austin likes the water, but can't swim in our pool. It has a vinyl lining which he would probably tear and there is no safe way for him to get out if he were to get in. He prefers small streams and the beach. I'm so glad to hear that you and your husband do Bible studies together. It is a gift for sure. God bless!😊🌻💙

    I label each empty jar with a removable label of contents and date. I find that labels put on a hot or cold jar don’t stick as well. I always think I can remember what is in a jar, but inevitably, if I don’t label it I have no idea what it is 5 months later. Thanks for a great video. Motivating and calming.

    Ending the day in the Bible and a swim in the pool sounds great. How many months of the year are you able to use the pool in Texas? In northeastern Pennsylvania pools are used for such a short time it doesn't seem to be worth it.

    Good evening, Robin. I loved your video, 😃and the evening routine you are showing is both inspiring and relaxing! It made me realize that I need to make some changes to my own routine, because there is way too much TV in my evening habits!
    Today was a very busy day for me, so I had to watch your video in three parts! I was so happy to almost see it when you posted it (just a few minutes later), but I could only watch a small part of it. It was time for me to go visit a relative who is now in a nursing home. When I came back, I could watch another few minutes, then it was time to prepare dinner. Fortunately for me, your split pea soup gave me an idea, so I could prepare dinner in no time! Thanks! Then, when everything was cleaned and put away, I could sit quietly and watch the rest of your video! 😌
    It was nice to see you and your husband reading the Bible together. I also loved to see your family saying grace before the meal, then listening to what your husband was reading from Billy Graham’s book. It touches me to see how you integrate your faith in your daily life! In the swimming pool, 🏊‍♀I thought that I saw you swimming faster than your husband… or was he letting you, as a gentleman? 😃I’m happy for you that you can enjoy your pool! It’s so nice to be able to do so! I wish you and your family a blessed week! 💕🌹🌷🙏

    • @FaithandFlour
      @FaithandFlour  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Monique! Patrick is the athlete, but I can swim faster- it’s the only thing I have ever beat him at! 😂🤣 He is practicing, so my victory will be short lived I’m sure. 😆🌻💙

    • @moniquelacroix1706
      @moniquelacroix1706 2 года назад

      @@FaithandFlour Having strength and stamina is important, so if your husband practices, he “may” have a chance to be faster than you at swimming. But I doubt that all this practicing could help him move effortlessly as if gliding through the water like you do when you swim! But I know that this is not a competition, and I just wanted to gently tease you!!!! ☺🤩

    Thanks for being real and showing the mishaps of homemaking. I would suggest putting the jars in the sink and pouring. That way you're not holding the bowl up so high. You concerned about not wanting any of the broth to go down your drain then leave paper towels in the sink or some type of cloth in the sink to catch the drips. I really think if it's lower it would be easier.

    We are starting The Bible Recap tomorrow for part of my son’s high school English credit. Although, we are starting with the NT first for the remainder of this year and then picking up with the OT with the start of the new year. We just finished downloading the Bible app and podcast just a little while before watching your video! How ironic.

    Hi Robin , love your videos. I too make my own vegetable broth in anticipation for Fall/winter and all the Plant based cooking we love to do. I also have thought about purchasing a turntable for nostalgia's sake, but have chosen not too as it's another item that I would have to maintain and spend money on along with buying albums, but I definitely thought about it. Have a wonderful week...until next Sunday. Blessings to you and yours❤️

    Hi Robin, I have been inspired by your videos for a few years now and this is my first time commenting. I had the same pampered chef mixing bowl and decided to get rid of it because No matter what I did or how hard I tried I just could not get it to pour cleanly without spilling quite a bit of the liquid. One thing that does help when I’m using a Pyrex measuring cup is that I will use a wide funnel which gives me a wider poor range and I make sure that when I’m pouring the spout is inside the funnel so any spills land in the funnel. I hope that makes sense! anyways thank you so much for all your amazing content. We also were building a home while you were renovating and we were going through some of the same things as we put together our cabinets as well. Your videos are always so encouraging and inspiring!

    My Mom just gave me a record player this year and I’ve been enjoying listening to my records. Just curious, where did you purchase your records at? Or are they old records? You forgot the “Mom move”! When that hand reached in for the ham, you were supposed to smack it. 🤣😆😅 I still dry my dishes after I wash them only because water spots bother me. I know you can use a damp drying cloth in the morning but for me it only takes a moment to dry them. These are beautiful moments between you and your husband. ~Janet 😘

      Thank you Janet! I bought this album on Amazon. I think there are other good sources for vinyl records on line and apparently Walmart stocks them as well. Yes!!! The “mom move”! 👍😂🤣

    Productive and relaxing video. If a bowl is too full I tend to ladle or scoop with a measuring cup out of the liquid until it's more manageable. Alternatively I sometimes transfer to a bigger container. The soup looked delicious, but Lee and our son Daniel don't like very many vegetables. I used to be able to swim but after my vision started decreasing I somehow forgot how to. I nearly drowned once and now I have a phobia of my head being under water. I just ordered a new tote bag for work. The lining in my current one has been flaking off.

    Hi Robin! I have found if I put the jar and the funnel in the sink and pour I don’t tend to spill. I think it has something to do with the angle. And if a drop falls it is in the sink for easy clean up. Hopefully that will help. You always inspire me!

      Hi Barbara! I am still color/dye free. Most of my gray frames my face and depending on the light it may not be very noticeable. I don’t plan to go back to coloring my hair, and will just let the gray take over gradually.

    Hi Robin! Your kitchen is so bright and cheery. We just closed our pool for the season and it’s such a sad day when the cover goes on. Hi Robin! Oh I loved your video today, we get it here at night and I look forward to it all day 😀I've always wanted to make bone broth, but I worry that if the bones were frozen then I defrost them, can I 're-freeze' the broth. (Is it another freezing event). I hope that made sense. 😂🤣 Austine is so precious thank you for sharing him with us. 🥰

      Thank you! I freeze the bones and vegetable scraps and then refreeze the broth all the time. I think that is okay, but I'm certainly no expert. 🙈 Have a blessed Sunday!😊🌻💙

    Hi Robin!
    I've discovered that folding a napkin and putting it on the edge of the crockpot and bowl catches all the little drips :)
    I too, struggle with that same pitcher :(
    I have started using a plastic 2 quart Pitcher from an age old home party.
    While I'm not a fan of plastic, it seems to solve the issue of mopping broth from the counter and floor :)
    Love your sunday videos!
    They encourage me ❤

    So funny. I took my bones and veggie scraps from the freezer today to make bone broth as well. And while they were roasting in the oven, I watched Mary's video again to refresh my memory since it's been a year since I made it. I plan on canning my broth to be able to keep it on the pantry shelf.
