whaaa, thought you meant sold on the salesman,,, like his bender's nervousness turned into the gotcha moment. I kinda do those bends with my fingers and/or a😢😮😅 preloaded bar, but if I find one, yeah, I'll probably drill some holes I'm my gtr .
Listening to this reminds me of when i was younger and playing in some of those old cut & shoot honkytonks. Like a place that was called "The Slab House" if that tells you anything. Some were pretty rough places, but i was always told. If a fight breaks out, just keep on playing. I sure enjoy all your videos.
I was riding the fence about getting one...so after watching you here I bought one with the drop D lever. Love it. Thanks Johnny and glad you're feeling better. Big fan here
Thanks for the fantastic vid Johnny, i just bought me a Fender b bender here in Western Australia and your vid is just the inspiration i needed to get motivated. Looking forward to some more b bender posts from you.
It is. Basically you have smooth raising and lowering of the pitch. When you play with a neck, there's frets that give you definitive notes. A steel guitar player gets around that by using a slide and the strings are raised high as hell. This invention lets you sound like a dobro player
I've had one on my Nashville Telecaster for about seven years. Mine has a B-bender, G-bender, and drop-D toggle. The B-bender is a real pain because you have to take the bar out every time you put the guitar down so I don't even bother since I don't need both the B- and G-benders. The G-bender is done with a palm lever that people often mistake for a Bigsby. I actually like the G-bender better anyway because it gives you the option of voicing the chord as third-fifth-octave by playing something like xxx455 for an Asus2 and then bending the G to give you the A chord. Whereas the B-bender doesn't give you the option to put the root note on top of the chord. But if you play xx745x, you can still get the chord with the fifth on top so you have more options if you're into chord melody. It's definitely a fun thing but since I am a pedal steel player, I've never really put a ton of time into really learning it. It's definitely a cool thing to have though. The drop-D toggle is also super convenient to easily drop tune to play power chords with a slide or to put the root note on the low string for licks in the key of D.
Awesome man, post some vids! I dont have any tabs for this one, sorry amigo…i do have a bending 101 video that kind of touches on the idea tho. Let us know how you’re getting along with it!
Hey Jonny haven't been around but I've been practicing my bender .once again This sounds so good thanks love your videos. You and your band are top notch. The real deal.ill send you a pic of my tele with bender
Ha! Dude... I used to play a couple of your tunes With Gal Holiday out of Nola. Never realized you were such a funny card! The bending sounds great. Rock
All I was looking for was a little demo of a B bender to mount on my tele instead I find myself blown away by your mind boggling licks way to go Johnny ! All I could say was "yes" now all I can do is watch Johnny Falstaff videos...seriously your very talented with a great voice I cannot wait till my bender comes in.

I've just got one (after seeing this hilarious clip) and installed it. Johnny cut a nut into the bridge and it apparently works for him. I've drilled a hole in the bridge as Hipshot recommends - that gives you more pressure on the saddle and helps to avoid possible rattling or a decreased sustain.
Hey Drew, thanks for the kind words! That was just a quick jam i threw together for the video. There’s a couple more bending vids in my guitar picking playlist. 🤠
Its really a joy to re visit this video of yours Johnny. I'm from chile and i would like to know if this hipshot b bender could be installed on a guitar with stop bar bridge, not tele and non tune o matic system. Because this guitar it's a DC junior, and as far as ive researched, theres no evidence of the hipshot or b bender systems in general of being exclusively available to perform on telecasters only. So given ur talent and knowledge i decided to ask for help since i wanna try this so bad. And don't have a telecaster but got a DC junior with stop bar bridge and a p90 bridge pickup. Btw thanks for this inspiring and full of charisma vid u did Johnny. If theres anything i can do to return the favour, and if it's at my hands possibilities, feel free to suggest or request. Hope my non native English speaking don't suck so i made myself clear since i'm a self taught english speaker. God bless You.
Hello Nathan, thanks for the kind words! I’m not really familiar with those guitars, so I would hate to give you some bad advice. Before buying a Hipshot, I would suggest sending an email to the Hipshot company and ask them personally. Sorry i couldnt be of more help!
Could you put that on a Strat (with the bridge decked against the body of course - not floating) and get the benefits of BOTH a whammy system and a B-Bender?
Thanks man...yeah, it wouldnt be for every guitar player, but diversity makes music awesome and interesting. It would be pretty boring if we all played the same crap.
I agree, of course, variety is spice of life and music. But I as a lead singer/ rhythm guitar guy, I found that bending the Hipshot accurately was too much for my poor brain; )
This video is fantastic! I had been thinking about getting one of these for a while. After watching this video, I went ahead and pulled the trigger and got the one with the b,g and drop d. I think hipshot needs to endorse you or something. Your tone is twang-tastic! I strung mine up with my go to tele strings, ernie ball cobalt 10's and they seem to work great. What gauge and brand do you use.
vearnie gray thanks for the kind words! How is the bending coming along? I use ernie ball, boomers, dean markly...i dont really have a fave. How do you like the cobalts? I just released a single up on Spotify that has some pretty neat bending stuff, and some killer steel guitar...if you get a chance, let me know what you think. Take care!
@@THEjohnnyfalstaff The bending has stopped for a bit. I bent my bender! I don't know how but the main pin in the base that holds the b,g and e leavers on got bent. I sent it to hipshot for repairs and it is on it's way back. Best I can figure is the metal got too hot from trying to play your licks. The cobalt strings do seem to have killer tone and sustain but also have a bit of a gritty feel to them, compared to regular Ernie Ball. I think they last me a bit longer also. If you get a chance check out some of my music. Our band is getting ready to have an original song released on local radio. This is a montage of me and my wife doing a two piece gig. ruclips.net/video/2tMDZusZhW4/видео.html Take care man.
Hey Johnny! Thats some smoking guitar playing man! Would you recommend the G bender or the B bender while playing in open E? Greets From The Netherlands!
Niels Aarts Man, that is a great question! I don’t play in open E, so i have no idea which would be best. Any other guitar players out there could give some advice?
Hi Mr Falstaff, great video and humour! Can I ask a question? Is this the same as the hipshot standard b bender with the drop d toggle? I dont see the drop d on yours. Is the Will Ray hipshot b bender different? Thanks, in advance. Paul
Howdy Paul, thanks! I did have the drop D lever on there, but took it off for some reason that don’t recall...burnt a few brain cells back then! I believe the Will Ray model would be the same as what you see here. Hope that answers your question, have a good one!
Richard ...they both have the pros and cons. The hipshot is more my thing. The main problem i have with the Parsons/White is that you have to be really careful not to bend unintentionally...with that being said, Marty Stuart is my absolute favorite country guitarist.

Thanks bud - nice simple explanation and yet the best description I've found. Your style is inspiring even to a puking drunk steel player.
