@@dander2312 personally I don't get the people that say the band is trying to replace Chester, cause he lived and died as the lead singer. Replacing hin would having him leave the band while he was still alive and singing with them, then getting another singer. THAT'S replacement in my opinion

I just wanna let ya know that its not actually a "Linkin Park Music Video" (technically it is, but..) Its for the World Championship of the game "League of Legends" The characters in the video, is the animated versions of the actual pro-players that participate in the championship. Video is made by Riot Games.

yupp so you can actually put it as: Emeliy has a big crown to wear after Chester, and Faker (the best league of legend player in the world) has a burden to bear because hes the first pro player in the Esports, which makes it a burden per se to live up to the expectations that it brings. So the song is about Emily and allso the LOL player Faker kind of :)
What I think, is that all these haters ditching LP because they don't like Emily, are making it easier for me to get tickets if they ever come to Australia.

I was lucky enough to get tickets for the London show and it was amazing obviously she doesn't sound like chester but she does sound like linking park she was great and I hope people eventually stop comparing them and understand she is not a replacement this is the next step for the band. I hope they come to Australia soon and you get to see them too. RIP chester
Emily's 15 second scream in this is actually more difficult than Chester's 17 second scream in Given Up. Chester changes his note 2/3 through but it's much harder to sustain the same note.
True! Emily’s scream is like the marathon of vocal endurance, while Chester’s is more like a sprint with a fancy twist. Both are impressive, just in different ways-like comparing apples and really, really angry oranges!

Love how the song reflects both on Emily and Faker (The face and icon of League of Legends). The crown is in fact heavy for Emily to carry the heavy expectations of Linkin Park fans, as well as for Faker, to defend his championship title once again after all these years being on the top.

I cared and after the first shock in July 2017, I got angry at Chester for leaving his band in such limbo. Did he ever think of his family, band and fans that fatal day ?! I know he missed Chris but it felt that we were not important to him. I was, however, never a Chester fangirl but loved Mike‘s rap in the first place and the unique metal-rap sound of LP.
Well, I honestly still very angry against him because he was too coward.
I agree, it was a sad day for us all, and we miss the guy, but LP need to keep going for themselves. Chester was hurting, but he didn't have to do the selfish thing, and leave his kids, wife, mother, and millions of fans behind.

My point is. The focus should be with the living members, because we couldn’t do anything more about Chester, unless miss him and pray for him.
Animation is actually done by talented Riot Games team and the song itself is the anthem for League of Legends Worlds 2024 which is sorta World Championship. Video features the best of all players who are now participating in the competition and also obviously the band members.
It's an annual event just as Anthem with its video clip is.

Haters will hate no matter what. If you don't like the fact that they've returned, don't buy the album or listen to the new music. No one is forcing you either way.
LP are honoring Chester but reinventing themselves, not replacing him. The old material will always be his legacy and no one can erase that. Picking a female vocalist was genius and this is Linkin Park 2.0, a new chapter and a fresh start. Great to have them back!

all the characters in the video are the pro players in this years world championships of League. The guy with the crown, "Faker", has been THE leading champion player for legit like... 10 years. So the length of the scream is the benchmark of a good singer for some noob fake LP fans? So, suppose if in the next song she hits the 18 second benchmark will she surpass the legacy of Chester? No! Chester was different beast and so is Emily. There are many singers who are/were better than Chester, should I start comparing? Let Chester RIP & let Emily live her moment those have problem with her can FO and watch old LP songs avoid listening to all the songs past Chesters demise. A song is the combination of singer and music. Had Chester been in some other band he wouldn't have achieved what he has achieved so goes the same for the other members as well. Those who say they should've started another band need to realize Chester didn't own the band neither any single member of the band. Having said this the original founders of the band are Mike, Brad & Rob so they hold the right to do whatever they want to do.

Seen people hate on her performance on this song live cause she only did it for like 11 sec…but then again they performed this song at the end, so you gotta give it to Emily to even do a 6+ second scream after performing a full set live. Kudos to her!

Chester would often break up the Given Up scream live to help keep from blowing his voice. It's so hard to be on tour doing that style of vocals night after night and still sound good.

League of legends x Linkin Park! Perfect
Long time LP fan as well. I’m sure a lot us, fans, has the same reason of how much the band means to us and how it impacted our lives. We ALL grieved and a lot are still grieving. Controversies aside, it is unfair for Emily to get all the hate she’s getting regarding the MUSIC. It is an IMMENSE undertaking to take on the role she’s taking place for. She understood that. We all seen that. She was BRAVE and did the best she could. As evident she got more confident and comfortable she is doing much better in her live performances. At least for me, I am happy for the rest of the band to come back together and do what they love… make and play MUSIC. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who got emotional for their return. Fans of current and former need to focus on just the MUSIC not anything else. We all have the choice to press play or not. The band has moved on and supporting fans has as well. There are still millions of fans continuing to support them. There are plenty of other bands to listen to. The hate needs to be laid to rest.

@@Tonylytics there's warriors, legends never die. I did forgot to mention they have music groups like pentakill (rock) and kda ( k-pop ) true damage ( hiphop ) there it's a literal rabbit hole of music. A lot of which are really good one I do recommend for rock is Pentakill - Mortal Reminder

Its animated because its League of Legends worlds anthem. It's animated every year, definetly not because some kid liked animated videos.
I think you really need to count from when she started singing, because she did not breath before the scream which makes it 16-17 seconds without a breath. She did around 13 seconds live with the song in the end which is pretty impressive also.
LP did this on purpose, they only did a scream for roughly 15-16 seconds to honor Chester's 17 second scream and make people rethink that moment when Chester screamed for 17 seconds long

I really love the LP band. I used to listen to them when I was a teenager. Now I'm happy and excited that they are back and there will be a chance to be at the concert ;)

Not only she has a full sentence (this is what you asked) before the scream, she imediatly has to breath and continue with the chorus, which in my personal opinion, is actually harder than the given up scream, where you can get some small breaths before the "misery" and there's no follow up with a chorus.

As a big fan of Linkin Park, I personally am so happy they are back. Miss Chester Immensely. Loved both this and Empty Machine. The long scream gives me goosebumps... To have the old vibe back is just... now to figure out how to listen without letting getting teary eyed.

"I don't know what Scientology has to do with music" exactly lol I don't know anything about her personal life and I feel in most scenarios, it's irrelevant and none of our business. I don't know much about Scientology or any of that stuff but I have plenty of people assume things about me and my life simply based on the fact I live in Utah and grew up in an LDS world. If I had to guess, she probably isn't part of it anymore and if they're dangerous, it's probably unsafe to speak publicly about it as well. Nobody has had any evidence of this girl doing anything harmful to anyone else, but I think people are digging and spreading things in efforts to cancel her just because she is now singing for this band. I'm sure the internet would do it to anyone they put in this position because that's what the internet is like these days. Linkin Park however has been my favorite band since elementary school and I'm 32. I've spent incomprehensible lengths of time listening to albums on repeat throughout my childhood, teen years, and adult life and I stood up for them and supported them every time the internet hated on them simply for their style choices and I'll support them now. I'm really happy about all of this and Emily is crazy talented, I was really impressed with some of her other work. This just works well and I trust Mike Shinoda. This band is one of the least controversial bands ever in the rock industry in my opinion. Plenty of scandals in other bands. Just let these guys make music lol As for Emily, I hope that things people say don't really affect her - so much of this is literally just cyber bullying and these people think they're doing it in the name of Chester or something which is really ironic with how much he hated bullying.
Also this song is freaking amazing, I can't believe they're coming out with absolute magic so early on. I also can't believe she did that scream live and was only short by a second or so. Chester was known for being one of the only people who can hold screams for that long and she's already doing that - especially as a female?? She's special. Protect her at all costs.

Taking a bit of an objective look at the whole scientology thing, I think what gets to most people on the skeptical side isn't so much what it has to do with music (as it has nothing to do with music), but the Church of Scientology's values and viewpoints versus what Linkin Park stands for. Because those are two polar opposites.
I can understand the immediate reaction when people say it feels like a betrayal to Chester's memory to have a scientologist take a role in the band - but only the immediate reaction.
You only need to take a little bit of time to look at Emily to see it's absolutely nowhere near a betrayal. On the contrary.
If you look at who Emily is - rather than just the factions she's associated with - it's clear she's not entirely on board with the Church. The most outwardly obvious pointer is probably her sexuality, as the Church is anti-LGBT. But more importantly in regards to Linkin Park, listening to her talk, she comes across as a very caring person, if a little awkward at times, and who does care about people's mental health.
I obviously can't say what her personal views are on the whole subject, but add everything together from her being born into the Church, the things she talk about and the way she talks about them, her relationships, the lyrics for the new songs and everything in-between and you start to see some patterns.
All this to say: it only takes a little bit of digging into the matter to see that the argument that she's a "prominent member of scientology", who's a betrayal to everything Chester was, is shaky at best.
If anything, I'm personally starting to feel like her journey from scientology to Linkin Park does, in fact, make her a perfect choice.
Music aside. We don't even need to discuss how well she fits on that front.
This was a very knowledgeable, detailed, insightful take on the situation. I wish everyone dug just a little bit further to see who she is as a person, instead of jumping at the glance of just a few sound bites.

Linkin Park has always meant a lot to me, so I couldn't help but keep track of the situation as it developed. This isn't all the details, but enough for a solid overview.
I didn't include the Masterson situation becaue you honestly hit the nail on the head already. She went in to help someone she thought to be a friend who was accused of something terrible, just like any one of us would do. And when the truth came out and he wasn't who she thought he was, she prompty ran away. She stated as much, and public records support that statement. She appeared at (note:) preliminary proceedings, and after that there are no more records of her anywhere near the case.
Skepticism is healthy, especially for a topic as sensitive as this, but only if you remain open to new information, good or bad. She's solid, and we can go back to simply enjoying some kickass LP music 🙂
