What a fantastic build!I can't believe the difference between the old Tamiya kits I used to build and these newer ones.I would love to do this kit but a)I already have a pretty big stash and b)I'm currently working on a model railway layout with two more in the planning stages. Keep up the good work mate, and keep these great videos coming 👍
Andy, Another great Tamiya kit and a beautiful build. Enjoyed the entire video, book reference, paint color choices and your weathering techniques. Great job and keep them coming! Thanks, Bob
It really is a stunning build! I'm done this now on the Nashorn and have the vespe and marder 3s after that I managed to fine an ex tristar marder 3 H with AFV club parts in the box for the pak 40 etc! Never knew tristar was part of afv club! I'll need to get the early I love that Nashorn look the late reminds me of the ferdinand with that flat front.
What a fantastic kit tamiya have done it again and a fantastic build Andy and I will be getting this kit soon as its available again fantastic video thanks Steve 🇬🇧
Greetings from Sweden! Love your work. You are great inspiration. I just ordered this kit. Seems like a really nice and well engineered kit (as always with Tamiya). Take care!

1:11 And i wasn't a plane builder, until i did build my first plane... And i wasn't a tank painter until i painted my first tank... And i wasn't a figure builder until... Sorry Andy, but that is no excuse...One of these days you will have to leave your comfort zone and build some figures...I'll bet you will enjoy it...
Hi Andy, you can see a real Hummel during your Trip to Europe at German Tank Museum Munster (Not Münster!) and many more (Tank I / III / IV, Panther / Tiger / Brummbär / Sturmtiger / Wespe / Marder / Jagdpanther / Königstiger / T34 / T 55 / Sherman and some more.
Great video Andy. Please do make the figure painting video with your friend. Tamiya's figures in the latest kits are beautiful and too good to waste. I have no clue how to do them myself.
I feel like you're missing one more weathering detail without some soot at the barrel muzzle. You always weather vehicles nicely like they've been in combat for a while, but a clean muzzle throws it off. Not sure if you've done this in the past, but the 150mm on this Hummel makes is stick out even more.
as a former U.S. Army Field Artilleryman, I would say, if the tube had been firing recently, then yes there would be residue, however if it had been recently cleaned, (tube punched/bore cleaned) then the muzzle would be clean as well.
I'm kinda new in this modeling hobby and have no idea, why's metal barrel better than a plastic one? It's not only because of the rifling I believe so why? Both will be painted and weathered and so on. Could anyone give me a hint? The kit looks so good, indisputable. And ofc Andy the best, it's a pleasure to watch every video :) Also there is some really valuable information that helps while building own models, like really, why so good?
Hi Andy. Great model, as usal. Can quickly tell, which coat die Spur use? (indessen of the Tamiya TS 80?). You mentioned it in the clip, but I could not get it... I tried once the Vallejo Acrylic coat as a recommendation form ja local shop, but when I used enamel thinner (for the weatheting), the thinner disolved the coat and my Tamiya Panther (1:16 RC modell) was almost ruined. So I am very interested in alternatives.... Thanks a lot in advance for the answer
Great video Andy. I've returned to armor modeling after a 20 year hiatus. For my past two kits I've applied black and white undercoats and have been happy with the tonal variations created in the top coat of paint. However, it seems that when I apply the flat clear coat (either TS80 or Testors) much of the shadow effects seem to disappear. Any thoughts to what I may be doing wrong as I feel the models have looked their best just prior to apply the flat clear coat. Thanks.
Please do a guide on the Tamiya M5A1! I know Its a bit of a controversial kit but it’s really cheap on amazon. (it’s my next project and I plan on giving it 761st markings)
Great video. I'm wondering what is the piece of classical music you have playing? It's very familiar to my ears, but I'm not sure of the name or the composer's name.
Very Nice looking kit, Andy. As a former M 109 a2 commander I have 2 tips when you're going to build a diorama "in action". First, a little soot at the end of the tube. Not to much. They are and were never full black because of the regulary cleaning moments. Second, those red and white poles are for aiming purposes, so when your diorama is about shooting, they won't be there on the backside of the vehicle , but somewhere in the frontal terrain at 11 o'clock at a distance of about 100 to 150 meters. Good luck with the diorama, I'm looking forward to it.
@@CurvedSlightly You're calling an ex commander of a M109 a " tank" commander ??? 😂😂😂😂 I rest my case. And o yeah, try to write in Dutch, maybe I can have a laugh to. 👍🏻

Nice kit but agin I’m disappointed that the stock gun barrel is two half’s. Why in 2019 can we not get one part barrels. For the price of kits now I demand a good out of box barrel. No excuse with what they charge for a kit now. This would be. $100+ in Canada
Hi Andy thanks for this video very good as the others you made. I live in France and i just want to tell the problem to find the Ryton books in général. All this books in Europe are very rare and cost at minimum more than 200 euros for the Tiger it reach 400 euros Did you have any idea where i could buy them at ordinary price like you in usa ? Here in Europe ebay or amazon prices are .....crazy
Not only. Many kits have two part barrels which are a pain to assemble/finish. You have to remove the seams which is easy to get flat spots because you're sanding a curved surface. Slide molded barrels are one-piece and are better than two piece barrels. Sometimes they are warped which completely eliminates the realism in a gun barrel. In my opinion metal barrels look better all around after painting. But for cost sake if you have slide molded then those don't look half bad.
I am not a modeler, but I enjoy watching these videos. It is always nice to see some one that takes the time to share their hobbies and skills. I am just dumbfounded as to why any one would give them a thumbs-down/ dislike. This is just pure artistry.
Finally a smart person who put classical music under the video.
My thought exactly! I wish I could recall the names; I am guessing "Sorcerer's Apprentice" and "Swan Lake"

I have a pair of the 74123 cutters, a little expensive but worth every penny.
It's a dream compared with the old Dragon model.
That's what's great about Tamiya kits. They're not over -engineered
Dude, I talk about the mid '90s kit. A real nightmare .
Dragon used cheap recycled plastic to produce their kits .Tamiya used high grade plastic granules to make their kits.
@@brianhurley6289 I won't argue with that, regarding the parts scheme. Not tossing in the metal barrel with the kit, is chickenshit.
