- Using the stupidest and silliest sounding melody I could think of as the source material, I try to make music to both sound beautiful and aggressive without changing any notes to the original melody.

Something I heard Adam Neely say really stuck and it matches very well here: "Repetition legitimizes."
No matter how shitty a melody might sound, repeat it enough times (especially since you'll do slight variations along the way) and it starts sounding pretty nice. 😄
It's stuck in your head because he kept repeating it.
And repeating it makes a pretty good 9/8 metronome

Apple has control over their fans THEY'RE MAKING THEM BUY THEIR PRODUCTS.
This is actually kind of common in production setups, they're set up to control different programs in the background (or on different screens, if you have those)
It adds productivity. 2 keyboards for both hands, 2 mice for the feet, and 1 extra mouse for... uh... yeah. It'll work for anything else that aren't the 2 hands and feet.

You won't believe how much this has helped me for my songwriting now. I'm not a good guitar player and sometimes I come up with goofy riffs just like this and I can never find the right chords to go along with it. You've shown me that it's actually possible to make it sound good!
It takes more talent to write a riff than a solo so don't worry haha

You are not the only one and its not a sitcon vibe, its a 70s library music vibe. Library music is not a genre but labels that make music and you can buy their albums, their albums are made to be played at tv shows and if you want to use those songs at tv shows you can make a contract with them to use the song.
His song reminds me of the kind of stuff library music labels released at the 70s, check the 70s albums of the labels kpm music and bruton music.

I actually love the riff. It feels like it's incomplete because of where it ends, so every now and then you could add some other notes to "complete" the riff as a sort of resolution. It actually seems perfect for a song

If you have a nonsensical melody, you should always try to turn it into a doom metal song, lol. You can get away with that type of thing more at slow tempos than at faster ones (although at the other extreme with crazy fast you can also get away with it more, as death metal proves). Really, though, you can completely change the sound with a simple tempo change.

This is a really good practice that I use a lot. Taking sounds and progressions that lies way outside your comfort zone and just turning it into music that is actually good.
You learn a lot from doing that, rather than staying within what you already know.

sounds like experimental jazz at the start
A couple takeaways from this video: there really ARE no wrong notes in jazz, and anything can be metal if you play it aggressively enough.
But being more serious, it did give me a couple interesting thoughts/proposals. The first is that melody's strength is universal, translating across whatever genre the tune is in; second is that genre might simply be a construction made of specific harmonies. Of course, you might reasonably say that the purpose and feel of a melody relies on its harmonic relations- like, Rob's first variation of the tune makes me feel like I'm absentmindedly checking my stock options as my yacht sails into the sunset, whereas the second one makes me feel like I'm making my entrance for a two out of three submissions match in the main event of WrestleMania.
I dunno. All that maybe too simple or obvious, but wanted to comment on the idea. :)
