Crazy amount of backspin on that defensive backhand return from Zheng - Anisimova couldn't get a racquet on it before touching the net as the spin took the ball so far back on Zheng's side of the court after the first bounce. It looked like Zheng apologised right at the end.
@@danielwong2333No red card warranted. Touching the net is a foul but racket completely over the net is OK -- especially if the ball has bounced back over.
Rule 24. g., Player loses point. “The point is lost if the player or the racquet, whether in the player's hand or not, or anything which the player is wearing or carrying touches the net, net posts/singles sticks, cord or metal cable, strap or band, or the opponent's court at any time while the ball is in play.”
A lot of spin involved. Can the player in pink touch the net with her foot and reach over the net with her racket? This level of play is so far beyond me I need detailed extra explanation. Please share your knowledge of the intricacies of the game.😮
If it bounces back and A reaches it without touching the net and hits it into Z's court, it's A's point. A hitting it into the net from Z's side should count as a net ball into Z's court (because that's where it lands) and therefore be as legal as any other net ball.
@@molybdaenmornell123hopp5 interesting so you are saying that would be like a netball, so hypothetically if A did that, hit Z net, and then ball bounce on Z court and Z managed to return it, that would also be a legal return because it's like returning a netball
That player was so bad at reaching due to poor balance; she couldn’t tilt her body without falling over. All she could do was standing 90 degree, which was the reason why her foot was touching the net trying to reach for the ball.
So who won the point? It bounced twice in the near court. Isn't that a point for the far court? Or a lost point for the far court because she didn't touch the ball? I'm not an expert in the rules of tennis.
@@ST-xg3gywell, due to extreme and unusual and unintentional sick backspin, it should be allowed to touch the net. But only then. In other words, there should be an exception to the rule.
It clearly is luck. She even apologized for it, you dont do that if you ment to do it. Hitting a ball that high with enough backspin and close to the net to make it bounce back over it is luck. No WTA player is skilled enough for that. Maybe ATP but surely not WTA
Not luck😂. She made another similar return just like this on another match. On the other clip that I watched, her opponent served right at the T but she did the same return. You soon see her opponent's face 😂.
@@wahhtong3882it is luck because returning like that with 0 control and just touching it is luck. It's impossible to do consistently with fast serves
