  • Thank you to everyone who has been keeping up with our family and praying for Ryker's birth. He was born Tuesday night. Lydia and Ryker are both doing great. We 're taking these first few weeks to rest and adjust to newborn life.
We were hoping to share his birth story today, but sadly we are not able to get it edited and posted this week due to other things going on. But we should have that ready by next Saturday.
This week we wanted to take a moment and share something personal that Lydia and her family have been dealing with recently. We hope this video will explain a little more about the Romeike family’s legal difficulties.
This is very personal to us and we want to ask for everyone to pray for her family as we try and find a solution in the next few weeks.
Thank you so much for watching!
    -Trace & Lydia + Ryker🤍
Here are some of the past interviews talking about more of the details of their families case.

8:55 genuine question, if so many people have been praying for years and since they were allowed to stay until the youngest was 18 and done with school, why not accept this as God’s will, say thanks to the US for letting them stay and homeschool, and graciously return to their country, Germany?

Yall should have filed paperwork as soon as yall got married to change her status. If you didn't then she definitely could be sent back. If the government is asking for passports that is exactly what will happen. If they don't have a court order before return date from a federal judge they could hold everyone is custody until there travel arrangements are planned and they will be taken to the airport and put on a plane with a 1 way ticket out of the country! Idk why someone did not tell you long before now what paperwork to file to keep her safely here. Because technically she is still under care of her OBGYN for 6 weeks after the birth! So if for no other reason than a medical reason she should be able to stay. You need to call an immigration lawyer asap! Dont trust someone else she is not under her parents being over 18 and now married she is on her own.

I realized, the last time you talked about Lydia’s family situation, who they were. I was homeschooled & now homeschool my children, so my ears perk up when I hear stories about homeschooling families. I remember when they came to the US seeking religious asylum. I signed petitions, prayed for them, & followed the story. I remember wondering if her family was “the family” I had prayed for so many years before, when I heard different things about them throughout your courtship & marriage. That’s so cool that I’m getting to know more about them on a more detailed level now. I will put them & you on my prayer list again. Believing that God is taking care of this whole situation.

I live in the Netherlands where homeschooling is also very difficult (but not impossible like in Germany). But I know that there are plenty of countries in Europe where homeschooling is legal, such as: Belgium, Austria, Sweden, etc. Why didn't Lydia's parents choose one of those countries back in the day? It is pretty easy to move within the EU.

@@KristlPMC as a homeschool mom of 20 years, I think that it is very important to have students test each year. That’s been the requirement for my kiddos each year and it has always been a non issue. It’s a very tangible way to show progress. I’m not sure why any homeschooling parent would fight this. It’s also a great way to weed out the parents who are educationally neglecting their children. Unfortunately, this is necessary because there are some families who choose to homeschool so that they can hide abuse that is occurring in the home. Typically the ones doing this are fundamentalist “Christians” who think they should be able to do whatever they want without having to answer to anyone, especially the government. Sorry for the long post lol. I hope the Romeike family is able to settle back in to their home country of Germany or any country in the EU that allows homeschooling if they are still desiring to homeschool their children.

Oh I agree- I’m all for the yearly testing BUt if the country hasn’t organized “what will be tested and how”: the homeschool families have no idea how to prepare and it is absolutely messy.
I just have seen the stress level- and all the organizational lack coming from the testing department and school boards. It’s too sad. The USA has a very well organized approach- so many options - so many curricula. And very well organized to have the options to test end of year in a child friendly way.

I can understand that you want to stay in the US. It's your home now. It's were your family is. The only two people who are resposible are Lydia's parents. The children should not be in the deportation case.
    Don't be to much afraid.
Germany is a good country. Public schools provide good education and are safe. I live in a town close to where Lydia's family came from. Life is good here.
Lydia's parents went against the law when they were not sending their kids to school.
That's why the police brought them to school. I'm sure there were a lot of calls and letters from the school and government before that.
What happens with Lydias two youngest siblings. Do they get German citizenship or at least "unbefristeten Aufenthalt" if you move to Germany? They need to stay with their parents.

CONGRATULATIONS on baby Ryker! What a treasured blessing for your family! Your sister, Alyssa Bates Webster's father-in-law, Daniel Webster, is our Congressman here in Florida. John and his siblings were all home schooled as are all the grandchildren in the family. Congressman Webster is as honest as they come and is such a trusted politician. I think that you, Lydia, and your in-laws need to reach out for his help. Maybe we can get everyone in Congress and the Senate, on both sides of the aisle, to help the whole family become U.S. citizens! What can we do? I have been housebound and recliner/bedbound for 9 years. I can't use up much energy at a time, but there must be something that my husband. Mike, and I can do to help your family. You all have our prayers, but there must be more. I am sure that everyone here that follows you and your family will do anything to help you all. Please let us know. Sending daily and nightly prayers, loads of love, and gentle hugs from Donna Gulyas in Florida. I’m genuinely curious, in your heart of hearts, if this same story was a Mexican or a Nigerian family who left Mexico or Africa with an application for asylum based on homeschooling; would we look so kindly upon that story, or is it more easily digestible coming from a European country? Because when Syrians were escaping actual war, we shunned them and when South Americans are applying for asylum to escape drug cartels, we chant “build the wall”, how is this story any better? When American born children are put in cages because their parents were deported, we say they deserve it. I hope someone genuinely questions this entire situation within themselves and sorts it out within their conscience.

As an African immigrant with some knowledge of Germany and their anti christian government you'd understand why Lydia and her family deserve asylum in a christian country founded by other christians who fled Europe for similar reasons.Syrians escaping war can go to other Muslim countries which are stable and rich like Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc what about the UMAH?? Why the West? there are many Nigerian families here in the US on asylum for religious reasons as christians are seriously persecuted in some parts of Nigeria so this is actually more a religious than race situation. South Americans coming through the border illegally are not exactly doing it correctly and you cannot compare with Lydia's family that arrived legally!Build the wall chant is perfectly fine as America is a sovereign nation and if anyone wants to seek asylum do it legally. I hope Lydia's family get asylum really soon. God bless!

That’s the pushback that they get. As an American citizen, it feels disrespectful to feel so entitled to march right into our country, as opposed to going about it the legal way.

Congratulations on the birth of precious baby Riker! 🙏💙My husband had a similar asylum immigration case. Also during the Obama administration, immigration agents came to my door with guns drawn at 5 AM on Halloween in front of my seven year old. I immediately explained to them that I have been working with a particular congressman on this issue. My husband should’ve been deported that day but three hours after they took him he was released. He had to report every month after that but because of the Congressman’s help, he had his green card in less than a year from his arrest. Everyone agreed (even our immigration attorney) that had it not been for our Congressman, we don’t want to think about the alternative . Don’t feel like you’re pestering them. Trust me you’re not! @@xCartoone I’m sorry, I don’t know what your disagreement is. Are you suggesting that in that passage that God is referring to these strangers as being people that practice unlawfulness and that God wants you to take unlawful strangers into your home, give them a room next to your children and love them as your own? I believe He would have stated the character of these strangers if that’s what He meant. He’s not wanting to put people in danger. He’s simply referring to strangers, not unlawful strangers, while laying out the civil laws in how to treat each other in order to establish a good society. So if His main reason here is to establish a good society among neighbors, how would that work with unlawful strangers (people who do things illegally)? Remember, during this time period the law was harsh. If you rebelled against God in any way and broke the law, that meant death. So you see He’s not talking about strangers that do things illegally because they wouldn’t have a chance.
I just wanted to add that it’s so backwards sometimes in this country, these people have worked hard and maintained a good Godly family life yet they are struggling to stay here whereas others that nothing is know about them get to walk in freely.
My prayers are with Trace and the Romeike family.

Many undocumented immigrants are just as good as you all the only difference is your skin color and situation as to how they came in. You can’t have it both ways. No special snowflake exceptions
And there is a specific reason they prohibit homeschooling and that is because they don’t want Nazi messages being Taught

There are differences. Coming in legally vs illegally. Have multiple friends that are here or where here on green cards. First off if you have cause no problems being here after years of being here. You should be allowed to stay and become a Citizen fairly easily.
Yes we should let others in fairly easily. But just letting everyone in and paying for them to have basic and move like smartphones when they don't do that for people born here. Its too much. Yes we should figure out a way to make it faster. But we cant have that many people come in and not even have basic information about who they are.

I understand it is difficult and stressful to face deportation after living in the US for more than a decade. Having to return to Germany, however, is not the end of the world. There is religious freedom, wealth, health care. Certain things are better taking care of than in the U.S. The Romeike family decided to take the difficult road when they decided to move to the U.S. and seek asylum. They could have moved anywhere in the E.U. (there is freedom of movement of E.U. citizens). Certain countries have strict home schooling laws, others have lenient home schooling laws. If they would have moved to Ireland (or Great Britain before the Brexit), they could have lived there without any problem and home school their children.

Y’all just ENJOY THAT PRECIOUS BABY! REMEMBER WHOSE YOU ARE! He is the GOD WHO FIGHTS FOR ME! He has not ever lost a battle and He won’t start with this one! Praise, WORSHIP, DANCE and thank Him for VICTORY! We operate OUT OF VICTORY not in search OF victory! They are now facing the same persecution they were trying to escape in the country that promised them safety. It’s ridiculous! The only reason they are doing this is because they are an openly Christian, openly homeschooling family and our country’s government is trying to outlaw both of those things. We need to stand and fight, if rapists and murders can walk across our borders and NEVER even be tracked then this beautiful family should be living here WITHOUT ISSUE. Period. This makes my blood boil. You better BELIEVE that I am praying big time! Our God is a LION, THE LION OF JUDAH and WE HIS PEOPLE do NOT have to stand for the harassment and lies of the enemy! We are in Colorado but I am going to see if any of our BIG VOICES in politics can help this situation in any way! This is strictly spiritual warfare being carried out by minions of the enemy! When there are brown people from war/drug torn countries trying to seek asylum for actual safety and for having any safe education at all. So please, just be the Christian person you are and allow the same grace and acceptance for all people trying to seek asylum. Her beautiful white, Christian family doesn’t deserve special asylum simply for wanting to homeschool over others trying to live a better life away from horrible crimes. They need to be grateful they weren’t drown in a river in barbed wire. Just do some research, think through everything you say and what you want for your family. I don’t know when he’s their removal date, my advice for you is to hire a good immigration lawyer who knows the law. 1) the lawyer needs to file a petition to remove your wife or anyone in the family who is married to a US Citizen from under the asylum status, 2) file an another application for them under the new marital status for their Green Card and they will allow them to stay until they get approved. Don’t pointing fingers at anyone, that’s the immigration laws. But it’s so sad for your family, keeping your wife and her family in prayer 🙏

First of all, Congratulations on the birth of your son Ryker. I pray mommy and baby are doing well. Second, Praying for Lydia and her family and the whole immigration situation. I homeschooled my three children from preschool to high school graduation. We were members of HSLDA from 1995-2018. That's 23 years. I received their monthly magazine that was filled with information about what was happening with homeschoolers around the country and world. I remember a family from Germany that was having issues, and my heart just broke for the parents and kids and what was happening to them. I cut out the family picture that was in the HSLDA magazine and pinned it up on our prayer wall as a reminder to pray for them regularly. I didn't realize that was Lydia and her family. I will continue to pray for them. Asking our gracious heavenly Father for favor, that all the paperwork and process go well, for protection from any schemes of the enemy, for their safety and most of all for peace. I pray as the Romeike family continue to put their faith and trust in God they will be filled with encouragement and peace through this trial in their lives.
