Shouldn't he be invisible if no light touches him? Shadows are cast simply because objects block light. If light passes through a solid object it's because it's transparent.

I actually thought this was an interesting concept for an isekai. Everyone knows about the main character crossing over, and all the characters adore him due to his immense power (and lack of personality); In this episode, the main characters power ended up scaring someone, and I would have liked to see this concept grow throughout the show, but it’s more likely that it gets resolved off screen and never brought up again.
The people that do figure out he isn’t farma choose to not press him for the truth because they know how powerful he can be. Seeing as how he has 2 full god crests, and has knowledge centuries more advanced in many fields. In the novels, he even helps develop the letter press to assist newspaper writers (yes it does help in medicine as well). The empress makes it clear to not antagonize or impede farma as she understands that even if he isn’t the kid before being struck by lightning, he is the kid the country truly needs.
I like the 180 in the personality after she saw how ridiculously powerful this guy is makes sense in my opinion she did say "its impossible for humans" or something along those lines.
Except he can't go through walls and fly. Flying might be easily achieved by creating a glider and use the water spear as propulsion. Phasing through the body can make him the most OP surgeon if he has practiced surgery.
1:53 - I think that tiny shriek was more effective at conveying her fear than a full-blown scream would be. Like she’s so terrified at meeting the avatar of a god that her throat closed down.
I love how Japan's cliché of the sedentary, comfortable and relaxing life is being a pharmacist. As a pharmacist, that's not true... But it's cool being represented! There's legit a dozen anime and Light Novels where the MC ends up as an apothecary or the fantasy equivalent of a pharmacist !
I suppose compared to other anime heroes, where daily life can include killing all the goblins, catching all the pocket monsters, or getting stuck in a video game that murders you, being a pharmacist is pretty chill.
Haven't seen this anime yet, but most MCs tend to have an absurd amount of hustle to them. They work harder, longer and faster than their "peers", with the primary exception being heavyweight battle-protags like Luffy/Goku, although even in Luffy's case, he's on a record-pace for conquering the Grand Line, so....IDK.
Regarding the "shadow issue": Not having a shadow would mean that the body does not block the path of photons, they just pass right through him, or are bending around him. So how come he can still be seen, as no light is refracted from his body and clothes? I can only come up with one plausible explanation: He unconsciously implants this information within the mind of ALL PEOPLE AND BEINGS with line-of-sight to him, even himself! Otherwise he wouldn't even be able to see himself. So he's also a really powerful psychic :D
I think this is an appropriate reaction from a teacher, finding out her student is some sort of reincarnated god! And i'm totally here for it. First episode finished strong, but the OP made it look like something completely different.
I do like the attention to detail they put into Falma's power into seeing injuries. At 0:30, you can see that BOTH Elen's finger and eye are lit up; the finger is explained in that scene, but the eye (possibly eyes) is lit up due to her having short sightedness (hence why she wears glasses).
I must say, they nailed this scene, the fear of Elen, the VA did an amazing job but most importantly that OST, I dunno if anyone can agree with me but it has vibes of “Signals” and the buildup hits that sweet spot

I recommend giving pharmacist in another world another try, even though it is pretty basic in its formula, the execution keeps getting better with each episode :)
This was the scene that won me over on this show. I can't name another time I've seen this in a show. Where the person was actually terrified at first. There's always the fear from the powered person, but the person who discovers them always ends up cool with it. This is the only time I can think of where a character was genuinely terrified of them.

To be frank this is actually how it would go, magic and fantasy aside most isekai take place in early mideval to late dark age settings. In those times humans were dumb, panicky, quick to mistrust and exaggerate far more than modern day. Entire pantheons, mythos, and monsters were dreamed up by nothing more than ones own imagination terrifying them.
Also alot of people are overthinking the reasons behind his lack of shadow. Japanese light novelists are not very creative and usually have very loose understandings of science and the laws of physics. 100% this is just a visual representation of him being "not of that world" it's just something they use from time to time. Like the stupid cursed eye or evil trapped in your hand nonsense. You are looking for logic where there is none XD

There is no shadow on the ground, but there is shadow casted on his body correctly. Even if you were to somehow explain the lack of shadows through whatever means, it would have to work both on the ground and his body/clothing.
I think the added shadows on his body was just a way to make him more 3D and not just flat, but yeah it’s a bit miscalculated there. I can understand the clothing making a shadow since they’re not part of him per se. I just gave it a blind eye xD still a really good anime
Loving the representation. A bit of a disclaimer though ! His knowledge is over-the-top and all encompassing. In practice, the pharmaceutical field counts dozens of hyperspecialized professions, especially regarding the industrial aspect. Your pharmacist will have the widest general knowledge about everything regarding physiopathology and treatments. Chemistry though, being irrelevant to our daily activity, is quickly forgotten once we're done with our studies. For a researcher, often specializing for years for the sake of his research, the opposite would be true!
And we never heard about the missing shadow ever again in the anime, at all, from anyone. Except the boy squad that briefly mentioned that it was truly gone, and than NEVER again.

Yeah, that was rather chilling when this happened and I had to go back and rewatch it to see if he really never had a shadow 😂
And we never heard about the missing shadow ever again in the anime, at all, from anyone.
Except the boy squad that briefly mentioned that it was truly gone, and than NEVER again.
Did anyone else think that at the beginning he was gonna do the Batman mask thing with his fingers?
