Awesome SUV. Mother has one and it is easily my favourite in the class. Feels like a class above a highlander or pilot in terms of quality and dynamics. The drivetrain is excllent, wonderful transmission with great torque.
I got my permit yesterday and started driving practice today with a cx-5 and the gas has so much power into it
Finally! My dad's bought this car, can't wait to drive it ;D I test drove it, and the handling is amazing, and it has a good punch like a v6, I did wish they actually put in a more powerful engine, however I've heard mileage is pretty good.
sidhu704 performance wise it’s already more powerful than anything else in the class so if you want more power you’d have to go to a Hemi Durango!
True, I do like the Durango, but not so forgiving on gas mileage.

I'm highly considering this as my next SUV, but the lack of ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and Android Auto all give me pause.

I totally agree with you, everything you mentioned is true. Otherwise I'd purchase it today. Looking at the new Subaru Ascent this Summer, however the CVT gets me nervous. Probably won't be as fun to drive as this gorgeous Mazda cx 9.
M11sanman it probably won't be. WRX aside, I don't think Subaru is known for fun anything these days, and I don't want a CVT either. Do you need the third row? I actually don't but for maybe 4 times a year, but I definitely have use for the extra cargo capacity it allows for.
Chris Sorreda android auto will be retro fitted. Expect the ventilated seats to come with the next refresh since the Mazda 6 received it. Panoramic sunroof will not happen cause Mazda's ideology is to reduce weight.

Words of advice never turn a turbocharged vehicle off immediately after driving over time oil film starts attaching itself to the inside of the turbo causing it to lose performance always let it cool off at like 5 mins before turning off

I am drawn to the car, but I'm not in the market for a ($44k) CX-9 (a '6 Wagon is more my speed); I think it looks great and Mazda has a good thing going on in the interior, especially this Signature model; the [exterior] design flows better on this than the CX-5 IMO...she moves good for a big girl; I only wish the 3rd row could be a (delete) option so it could be either 5 or 7 passengers to fit a wider variety of families/lifestyles; oh, it also needs Competition Yellow from early 90s RX-7s or some kind of emerald/BRG mica as Mazda's color pallet is Boring; the overuse of that Soul Red Crystal needs to be replaced w/a new signature color...and black needs to be an option in all color options.
You can "delete" the 3rd row by simply folding it into the floor! Then you have the flexibility of a 7 passenger when you need it and a 5 when you don't. Black is available on any trim

How about the interior noise level (NVH)? Mazda said it has put in tons of sound deadening stuff but your video still sounded quite noisy from the engine/ road noise. Correct me if I'm wrong.
at 11:08 is the proof when he shuts off the engine, and opens the door, hiway noise.
In the video, while driving, it seems lots of wind noise/ tyre noise into the cabin. at 6:38
Joseph Sewi I have a CX5 and a friend has a CX9 and they are all very quiet on the road, and very refined, but if you’re looking for even more sound deadening go for a Ford Explorer, they are nearly silent.
Cabin extremely quiet---engine a little noisy, but powerful 4 cylinder.
CX-9 and CX-8 are very much alike.

alexander1485 the whole point is so you don’t have to look way down into the dash to look at it and take your eyes off the road. It’s just a glance away, but as you can see in the video, it does not interfere with your view of the road at all

I think Mazda is trying to go for the same driving profile with the MX5 for some reason, hence the naturally aspirated engine. This SUV is begging for a turbo I think.

Cumbersome Most competitors offer more powerfull V6 engines. For example GMC Acadia and Ford Explorer... both have over 300 horses and also offer 7 seats.
Unfortunately it’s not underpowered at all. 250hp and 310lb ft of torque?
Jackson in the explorer, the standard V6 offers 290 hp but only 255 lb ft of torque. Advantage, CX9. And this seats 7 as well

I can criticize this hunk of shit for a lot of things but I wont. I look for driving pleasure and other things in my cars but mazda was clearly going for the, “I need to get from point a to point b” market. Their products are much nicer than before but its still the same old mazda. And am I crazy or is ABS interfering almost anytime you brake...?
