I’m tired of repeating myself please omg. I know that there are different types of Y/n and I’m NOT TRYING TO BE SEXIST or whatever to different genders, everything here is just for fun and a joke. Everything in this video is supposed to be for entertainment. There is no “good Y/n”, everyone has different tastes when it comes to “good Y/n”. Plus, Giving Y/n no personality in the story makes it bland, we’re able to be confident in one story and shy the next. They’re. All. Fanfiction. It’s supposed to be entertaining, it’s supposed to help us open our minds and give ourselves confidence or lessons or new memories in those stories. It’s supposed to make us feel or just have fun, goodness.
I disliked the innocent y/n fanfics because they are dense as a rock and didn't know wtf sex is. She's incredibly unrealistic because SEX ED EXISTS!? OR AT LEAST PARENTS TOLD THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT THE BIRDS AND THE BEES AT SOME POINT IN THEIR LIVES But if she's in the victorian, edwardian, or the medieval era, it's reasonable because society back then didn't tought women sex ed nor did parents told them about sex etc.
even though my school never had sex ed (i have no idea why they didnt have it) there were still kids who made dirty jokes, and if you didnt get it they would explain what it meant. has innocent y/n ever made it past 4th grade??
I've seen a couple actually good y/n fanfics, but I have so many fanfics saved I would have to got through every single one, and don't really feel like it rn-
As an x reader fanfic writer, i dontt even use y/n, i use [name] for the reader nowadays (used to use y/n but that was around like 2019) but i do make my reader non-binary most of the time, due to myself being non-binary- i also do self project small details, like some neurodivergent traits, to the [name] imm writing, to help some people be able to relate more to the character.
I have done the same. Im currently now putting [Name] in my writing. i am also trying to work on gender neutral reader. so mainly I'm working on writing in 2nd person instead of 3rd.
I try to make a y/n that just acts like I do or someone I know, I try to make them realistic by asking the said person what they would do in a situation I would put Y/n in and it honestly makes it more realistic to me. I haven’t posted any y/n fics yet, I’m honestly scared to, but it’s a thing I use and something other authors can use to help make their y/n’s more realistic if their having troubles with that. Also! Always make y/n non-binary, it helps in the long run, trust me
I have written some (Y/N) fanfics before, and I would like to give you some advice. It's extremely important to re-read your lines, or imagine them in your head and how others would react. That is very important to avoiding the "cringe (Y/N)"'s that we all know about. That helps the reader be absorbed into the work, and not questioning what they are doing.
You forgot a few y/n's -The well written y/n: sometimes fem but is actually well written and has common sense -GN y/n: is getting used nowadays, mostly used for headcanons. -The mood y/n: again another fem, but a few wattpad users actually like this y/n -badass y/n: again another fem, mostly seen in either danganronpa or bnha books, people like this y/n too -the y/n thats sweet but at the same time badass: sometimes seen in bnha books, this y/n is super sweet but gets pissed at things that piss her off- -the funny y/n: self-explanatory Lol thats all the y/ns i remember seeing-
Im making a badass y/n who is male and known for being a "bad boy." hes actually really nice, and just likes to work out and tease. But hes not against breaking a few rules every now and then.
Is it just me or like the Y/n fanfics were like the main character hates everything and just wants to sleep and do nothing just to get away from people the best .because I hate the ones were like they’re overly clingy or like they’re annoying to the point we just want to leave. the ones we like they match your own personality because you’re antisocial and so are they . it’s perfect I love them or the ones that are very chaotic and like you just want to become that person because they radiate gremlin energy.
Yes! Those ones are really good, though some people go a little bit overboard with the 'i hate everything' part and it gets a LOT more annoying then it should be😅
Because of the whole Y/N situation, I came to enjoy fanfics that are like [Name], [Oufit], [Pronoun] because it's so much more connected to the reader whether they use self-inserts or ocs and it's not constantly stereotypical female. Plus, they actually have neutral personalities. Not too meh like Shoto Todoroki, not too angry like Katsuki Bakugou, and not too bubbly like Tohru Honda.
My y/n doesn't even have a face, instead they literally just have "Y/N" on their face (made with face and head accessories in gacha club). They're like a creature/demon thing instead of a human.😀

They are most commonly in wings of fire x reader and they are never animus firescales mind reading flamesilk leafspeak allwings who can see the future and have every tribe ability ever in the history of tribe abilities. They are mostly RainWings or nightwings but they can be any tribe
Male y/ns are Great. Because of the male y/ns my standards for other fics including f/yn has gotten so high to the point that the only fics I read of female yns are if they reach my standard of balanced and actually well written plots like this one I read on blackbutler where the female mc was the best written complex character I’ve ever seen and the plot was so well written it was comparable to an actual novel. That’s when I had to stop reading because after that fic was comp,teed I couldn’t read another fic with any yn without cringing
Seriously though after reading a fic by A-lusk on wattpad my standards for fics went so high I couldn't read shit on wattpad again and I still can't. ao3 is just the middle ground for me where my standards dont get high enough to the point of no return
I love watching y/n slander bc I reminds me on what not to do when writing stories with y/n in, I always try to make the character as inclusive as possible such a different skin colours and ethnicity’s as wells as different sexuality’s. Love this so much tho 😂

If I would make an 'innocent' Y/N, I would just make them not curse 'cause they don't like it, they'd obviously know what sex is, but wouldn't talk about it because it's a topic they do not find interest/like, or feel disgusted/repulsed (Like how I do with Hinata from Haikyuu whenever I write him), obviously NOT do the 'protection squad' because it's downright stupid, I'd make them be a pacifist and just be sweet. That's how I would do innocent. Take notes, 'innocent' Y/N.
I can see the Y/N at the end because it actually represents the audience and not a random character in a fanfiction that was just made a placeholder because the creator was too lazy to create an actual character instead.

Y/N fic idea: so yn is diagnosed with "yn syndrome" at birth witch causes her to act the the stereotypical Mary sue yn at the beginning of the story. But her "plucky best friend" (their actually chill and normal) helps train her out of it and act and not so self centered. There is a love interest but it would flow more naturally. *I cracked this shit out at **10:30**-*

i am writing a reader INSERT (i just want a platonic y/n, no love interests partially so i don't ruin anyone's ships)... i do use y/n as the mc's name... BUT! i feel proud of myself! i have never specified y/n's gender (one trick to doing so is by writing in the second perspective, sorry to those who don't like reading 2nd pov) and y/n isn't op! y/n's mentor was/is kind of op, but i have it written in a way that no matter what the mentor can't interfere with the main plot, only y/n's character devolpment

When I make Y/N’s I make them kind of like me, because I’m logical, and crack a lot of jokes. I’d like to assume that a lot of readers prefer a Y/N that you could genuinely just grab a bite to eat with, or hang out with. I always ask myself “what would a normal person do?” When writing about Y/N 😭

I honestly prefer oc in fan fics because they arnt using y/n for the stereo types and usually can make what the want without being overly juged or criticised. It also lest the author use their imagination and allows them to choose their hair and skin colour without people going WElL mY SkIn CoLouR IsNT WhITe. Let's be honest here y/n is just an oc using the reader features and even then they still change things like night and body shape.
As a person who has a mix of Y/N traits this makes me laugh. I stutter, but only when I lie (which means I suck at lying 😭) I do have some mental health problems, I don’t curse (I’m not innocent I just have my own code), and I don’t like the idea of skirts (I’m Enby so it makes sense-). So I see these as if my personality were to split in the worst ways haha.

I'm sorry, I just think a "good" Y/N doesn't exist. The concept of Y/N itself is just the opposite of a good character. I mean, a good character must have a good and realistic personality, and a "good" Y/N can't have a personality because it's meant to represent the reader. Also, it's just impossible for a character to represent the whole audience, people have their own personalities. Except for walking meme Y/N. That one is just meant to make you laugh, so I respect that one 👍

I have written some (Y/N) fanfics before, and I would like to give you some advice. It's extremely important to re-read your lines, or imagine them in your head and how others would react. That is very important to avoiding the "cringe (Y/N)"'s that we all know about. That helps the reader be absorbed into the work, and not questioning what they are doing.

The actually good Y/N tho XDDDDDDDD perfect representation but what about the Y/N that is actually made to be non-binary? And the Y/N that is three different Y/N's (boy, non-binary and girl). And the dumb Y/N that needs everyone's help. And the scared Y/N that is too afraid to do anything (I have never seen the last two Y/N's but that would be hilarious 😂)

The concept of Y/N itself is just the opposite of a good character. I mean, a good character must have a good and realistic personality, and a "good" Y/N can't have a personality because it's meant to represent the reader. Also, it's just impossible for a character to represent the whole audience, people have their own personalities.
Except for walking meme Y/N. That one is just meant to make you laugh, so I respect that one 👍
