      As (I would like to believe) that type of writer, there are a few insights I could offer you as to why this happens so often with good writers.
      1. Often, quality requires time to create -- time not always available to the writer, or, sometimes, the writer does not want to invest that time.
      2. Keeping the quality of one's work to a consistent standard is stressful, and may take a toll on the writer, causing them to adopt avoidant behaviors when it comes to writing.
      3. Sometimes, because those authors are of a high caliber, they move onto other, bigger projects in their lives, leaving behind their fanfictions.

      @@LVD3NS And adding onto the first point--Since it takes a lot of time, some writers may be less passionate about the fandom after a while, so it leaves the story unfinished as their interest expires before they can complete their vision.
      I have that worry all of the time because the current fanfic I'm writing has so much planned for the plot, but takes so long to update because I'm such a perfectionist. I almost feel like I'll move onto a different fandom before I can wrap it all up

    Something a lot of people don't know is that there's a very good reason for the poor spelling and grammar in fanfics, and it isn't just people being bad writers (at least a lot of the time). Almost all fanfics are written in English, and so there's a shocking amount of people who don't speak English, but will read or write in it using translators. You'd be surprised how many fanfic authors post in English, despite writing everything in their native language.
    My only point is: don't be too harsh on people. You never know when a writer is a kid, has dyslexia or something similar, doesn't speak the language... there are lots of reasons a fanfic might have plenty of issues other than the writer just sucking.

      English isn't my mother tongue, but I like to read and talk in English more than in my actual mother tongue. (I'm by the way from Germany) For me it's not that hard to write something down, but when I write I magically forget to write some words down, that I see missing when I read over it and sometimes I forget how some words are written or what word I usually know I am searching for. I am a perfectionist and I highly doubt that someone would want to read my story's. Yes, I am very insecure about my writing and I try to find the right perspective to write.

      @@lodus4802 My problem is my mental health can't do that. I can't stop overthinking even though I know the story idea is good, but I am so afraid of sharing, that I don't do it. I’m the Happy-go-Fluffy because I use fanfiction as an escape from reality. I stay away from angst because I don’t need my mental health to be even worse. I also stay away from smut because, even though I’m almost 18, it still makes me feel sick. If I were to enjoy smut, it would probably have to be focused more on the intimacy; making love rather than just fucking; and that circles back to fluff.

    As a fanfic author, there's also the type who genuinely try to make a good story.
    I generally write crossovers, and I try my best to make those crossovers as good as possible, though I will admit I don't always succeed.
    (I have a problem where I frequently use characters who are too powerful for the crossed over world, like Alex Mercer from Prototype in My Hero Academia, which generally ends up ruining the story.)

    • @jplays2167
      @jplays2167 2 года назад +5

      Yeah, I’m a crossover writer, too! Unfortunately, when I try to actually write my stories, my mental image of the plot is so far along that I have a hard time figuring out how to get there. And even when I do write a lot, my motivation only stays for like 10-15 minutes before I get bored and go back to daydreaming about how cool it could be (mainly because I imagine them in the format of the anime I’m writing about, which doesn’t correlate to having to describe it).

    • @noneofyourbusiness2437
      @noneofyourbusiness2437 2 года назад +2

      @@youcantkeeprunninginandout7240
      My advice? Hm... Maybe use a villain from the more powerful story? Or maybe have some of the more powerful story's power start leaking into the weaker universe? For example, in my Prototype x MHA crossover, I sort of had the idea to make some of the villains get their hands on Alex Mercer's variant of the Blacklight Virus, thus becoming just as powerful as him. I never followed through with it, but that was my plan for combating the power disparity.
      I don't know. Those are just some very over generalized ideas off the top of my head. I would have to read the specific crossover for more specific advice. Either way, I hope it helped give you a general direction to start thinking of solutions.
