- During the Second World War, a section of the New Forest in Hampshire was annexed, closed off from the public and used by the RAF as a bombing range. Many bombs, including Barnes Wallis' 'Bouncing Bombs' were tested for accuracy there.
Dave Ford is my guide and together we explore the remaining artifacts of those targets in this four part series of walks.

What a brilliant series of videos. I can't wait for the next instalment!
Two more to go - thanks Nigel.
Fantastic! Barnes Wallis was an old blue, like me, who went to Christ’s Hospital, and it’s always interesting to find out more information about the bouncing bomb.
Thanks Mr Plum
Always loved the New Forest. Snake Lane is more probably referring to the adders you get in that area. 👍👍👍👍👍
Another part of this video was good and informative. Liked.
Cheers David
A very interesting video , like the new intro
Thanks Ann
There should be signs that tell Walkers what happened there all them years ago
Yeah, a small notice board would be good.
must be the High Ball they were testing using the Mosquito, any of those bombs remaining in the New Forest?
There was another bomb range just east of Ibsley airfield, after the war a motor racing track, now a gravel pit full of water. The range must have been levelled by the Americans and their famous bulldozers evidence of there activity is evident all around that. that part of the Forest.
That sounds an interesting place to visit with more history. Thanks for telling me about it.
