Buddy. I've been watching your videos awhile, not only because are they educational and informative, but because I see similarities between you and I as far as the psychological aspect of the game. I hope you don't take that the wrong way because you are far ahead of me as far as mental toughness and psychological fitness. I reached 1605 and then tilted under 1400 and am just starting to creep back up to 1500 ( Currently 1475 ). My psychology in that time was just absolutely in the garbage. I was angry, depressed, down on myself and it really showed in my play. I decided to take a small break and focus on other things like meditation, my vacation at Yellowstone National Park with my family, excercising, music etc. Im only playing when I know my head is in the game. Maybe you could take a small break as well just to take some of the pressure off yourself. You've already come so far. You're not going to tilt like me. xD You will get past this and you will reach 2000 much sooner than later. So don't focus on gaining ELO ( rating points) and start focusing on gaining "EELO" ( Essential and Exciting Learning Opportunities ). Take the negative and turn it into something positive. You go this, bro. Your channel along with ChessWithPatrick and ApexChess have inspired and motivated me to grind through the adversity, no matter how much my mind tries to convince me that i'm an idiot and i'm not good enough. FUCK THAT. I will progress and I will reach my goals someday. You will too, brother. Grind, Grind, Grind. Best of luck to you buddy. P.S. No shit, I had a session exactly like this recently. I lost two or three games straight and then just clicked into a game on accident and was forced to play against an opening that i'm notoriously bad at and I achieved a bad position in the first few moves and just resigned. I couldn't do it anymore after that. lol But we bounce back. The game always calls us back to the board.
HELL YEAHH!!! Im a 2000 but HOLY FUCK the road there was not easy. There were so many times when I was 1300-1700 that I literally cried from titling away 80 points in one sitting (In blitz, I play rapid now) but then when I just take a 2-3 day break to let my brain recharge then I start playing so well. Chess is a game of knowing what to do, but that’s hard when you are tired. Take a 2-3 day break and see what happens.
Yo Austin. I feel your pain man. You have no idea how many times i fell back down omw to my current rating. Its a grind - but you need to stop obsessing over the points you lose. Remember what the points reflect. They are just an indicator of what the software thinks you should be winning and losing against. As you get higher You’ll notice that there are players you far outclass in terms of raw Chess knowledge and skill but have some edge you havent come up against yet. You need to focus on skill aquisition and not on the result of each game and the rating. Did you overall play better than your opponent? Fuck yeah you did. Now you know what your true level is and that is all that matters. I get your frustration. Take a break - and come back stronger. I believe in you mate
You really should take a break, you said it yourself, you want one. The game is supposed to be enjoyable, and you are only going to see maximum improvement if you're having fun while doing it. You will get to 2000 though, man.
@@ETino1706 yeah a lot of people commenting this. It’s tough though and I’ll pick this specific comment to respond with why taking a break hasn’t been helping these past few months. Any time I take a break (like this week) it’s because I need to work OT or do something else with my time so I never really ‘take a break’. Like this week I’m absolutely exhausted, played a few games last night and sucked some more even after a 5 day break. It’s just my mental fatigue from work and family drama that’s getting me really bad
Well then in my opinion, you shouldn't continue until you feel you've gotten the break you need. It's not gonna go well unless you enjoy it, man, and we'll all understand if you need to step away for a few weeks. Everyone should get to enjoy their chess journeys.
I see ure not so frequently doing puzzles, do more frequently, they're surely complex enough, just requires more focus as you do on this match, don't take the matches either personally or seriously as your video series say that ure trying to become 2k, just remember that it's just a game to have some kind of fun, I think ure proven yourself enough to become 2k too, I just checked your puzzle elo and we have the same elo, I'm not a 2k but our puzzle elo is far off more from that, its just tiny bits that u're missing thats all
Yeah I agree I struggle the most when I don't take it seriously enough, but at the same time yeah it's supposed to be fun so it's tough to find a balance lol
I lost some rating too today, chess is not easy. You won a pawn and gave the advantage away, i think with rc8, not an easy position one blunder and the game shifts away.
Ugh - that was painful to watch and it must have been even worse to play it. As you said a few times (and others have confirmed in the comments I've just read) your standard of play is fully the equal of, or better than, most of the opponents you encounter, so there doesn't seem to be any problem with your chess ability in itself. What seems to persistently cost you is the pressure of [a] time management in the individual games [b] the pressure of trying to get as many games as possible played in advance, so you can miss a few days of video-making. The first [a] of these you can't really change quickly, you simply have to work on getting better at it - or go back to playing longer games of 15 mins etc. The second [b], though, is a self-imposed pressure, and while you've explained (and I'm sure we all understand) the reasons why you try to work up a stack of games in advance to give you some flexibility in scheduling your uploads, it just doesn't seem to working for you in terms of the overriding aim of reporting on a journey to the 2000 rating. Just about everyone who comments says that it wouldn't affect their interest in the channel if you posted less frequently (maybe every other day?) or took short breaks whenever outside life starts to get too hectic. We're all following your channel because we're invested in seeing you succeed in your quest. So the many comments that you're getting (which, as I say, all make very similar suggestions as to potential small changes that might help avoid days like today) might just be worthwhile taking onboard, even on a trial basis, to see if they lead to an easing of the pressure and a more consistent progress on accumulating the W's and those elusive rating points. As always, thanks for taking us all along on your journey and good luck as it progresses!
You're my favorite commenter and I think you're completely right, Thanks for always having something kind and positive to say. It's people like you that will make me keep going

If you want to take a break from "serious" games but still want to upload everyday, I wouldn't mind watching some blitz on your channel.
