i literally did this yesterday but without watching any videos first... it was so damn good that i had to see if people were actually making videos on this method of cooking steak!! i used mustard to hold all of my seasonings on the frozen meat and then 3-4 minutes before it was done i put small pieces of butter all over the top of my steak and let it cook into it as well!!! OMG i was so impressed at how tender my meat was from frozen to done in about 25 minutes!!!!!!
The best part about air frying is that you don't have to do the sear before or after. It really is a game changer. So quick and easy. It changed my world.
I really really appreciate it when someone does their video after they've practiced with it 1st so thank you Very much for showing us a video after you figured out how it turns out good. And actually because of that, you just got a new subscriber.🤗
Thanks Donna!
Thank you so much for sharing! This is now my new favorite way to cook rib eyes!!
I know that I am almost 2 years late. I haven't tried the air fryer method yet, but just for fun, when I was in high school, we raised cattle and always have frozen steak on hand. I would come home from school, throw a frozen steak under the broiler and do just what you did, I have always preferred my meat rare to med rare and this was perfect. Trying to get others to cook frozen steak was a challenge, congratulations.
Sounds like you’re ahead of the curve 😍
So helpful, thanks for posting this! I was on the hunt for instructions for air frying a frozen steak.
Thank you! I've been carnivore for almost a month and I have histamine issues and have learned that meat that sits even a day in the fridge can have histamine in it. This posed a problem for defrosting and the timing of that. I just bought an air fryer (hasn't arrived yet) and will try your way of cooking the meat. That will solve a problem I couldn't figure out an answer to before! Thanks again! God bless you.
Thank you Caitlin, I’ll be trying this recipient soon. Umm looks yummy
Game changer!!!!! I was cooking them from room temperature.... which was ok.... but this. THIS! Sooooooooo much better!!!!!!!!! Thank you!
so glad, yes I found if they are raw they get too chewy
I just got a chefman toaster- Air Air Fryer oven. I am a diabetic and it was my Mother's Day gift to myself. I am excited, but kinda scary too!😂 I am new to this and I haven't gotten use to timing the meals as of yet. Thank you for this video. I do hope you do more. Really makes me feel less scared watching your videos. One on how to make a pot roast would be great!💕
Way to go! Keep it up
Love this, thank you for sharing! Going from keto to carnivore, just started this week. Your videos are so helpful.
I am so glad you like them, it means alot!
How’s the transition going? I’m experimenting with “carnivorish” from 2.5 yr keto.
I've tried cooking filet mignon about 1 and half inches thick in the air fryer (non frozen) and it was.....delicious! The secret to cooking it non frozen is high heat on one side for a about 8 minutes, then flip it for for about 5 minutes. This will give you a rare/medium rare steak. If its not quite to your liking, simply keep cooking it in about 4 minute intervals until its just the way you like it.
Just defrost it and cook it properly!
Do you have to flip in an air fryer?
Came out better than I thought for only air fryer vs reverse sear methods. This will work good for me because I get the best deal on twin packs of steaks but I’m not going to eat 32oz of meat in one sitting. Thanks
You are a doll for sharing this!!! Just started my carnivore diet and I’m trying to learn how to cook steaks like a pro. That turned out so good looking!! Will be trying today! Also, I just subbed so I’ll be binge watching your carni (lol) adventures from the beginning. Hugs!!
Gina Brown thanks so much that means a lot. I have been enjoying making videos. Good luck with your carnivore journey!
Thank you for this video! Was wondering how to do steak. I’m wondering how your particular machine is doing after over a year. I do love the brand. Would you please update us?
Just found this video and am about to cook one from the freezer:) Hoping it will turn out as well as yours did!
Did it work?
Game changer is right! Wow~ never would have considered doing this, Thank YOU =) Normally, I let our steaks "age" either for several days in the fridge, or even dry aging them. At the very least, I bring them to room temp on the counter for an hour or two. I have two New Yorks in the air fryer right now, & I'm so excited to see how it goes~ will report back....
*Update~ it definitely worked, but I overshot the time. This means I overcooked the meat, not taking into account the temp reading I got halfway through. I usually do not temp it, just go by feel, but I was nervous =) Was still delicious, & still done in less than 30 mins from rock-solid frozen ~ woohoo!
@@RV-there-Yet thanks for the update🌟
Love your video, you just have a new subscriber, from Savannah Georgia, manny , I just got me an air fryer, can’t wait to cook me a frozen steak, thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks Manny. Hope you like the steak
Thanks for sharing ,I will try this 👍😊
Awesome video and the steaks I have done in my air fryer come out perfect! They say it’s better to cook from frozen because the meat is more tender and juicer with less grey!🥳🥩🔥
Absolutely love this method! Our steaks were delicious!
I follow you from Morocco...we wish you success...thank you
Thanks so much!
Too funny, I literally just watched that interview with carnivorecast!!! Thank you for doing the video!
thanks for commenting and watching!
Love this video, Caitlin! Total game changer! Thanks so much ♥️♥️
so glad you liked it Alisha
I suck at making steaks with a pan/oven because im very impatient, lazy, and just unskilled. Also i always have too much meat left over because it’s a single household. So i toss them in the freezer. And ofc, no time/patience to wait for it to thaw in the fridge for the whole day. Ok long story short, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I tried your method (just shortened the time to like 7-8 min per side, since mind just seemed smaller cut) and i can enjoy high protein diet super easy and delicious whenever i want!!! 👍🏻🙌🏼❤️
That air fryer looks so much more useful than the round one I have. The nonstick coating is coming off of mine as well, so I don't really like using it. Maybe I'll look for one of these the next time I'm at Costco.
yes I like this kind so much better!
Thank you for the great tips on this video. I just got my Cuisinart air fryer a couple of weeks ago, I see all the demos on RUclips using the air fryer function. When do we use the convection bake or just bake. I am interested in cooking a piece of roast. Thanks again
Thank you for sharing. I also have this exact air fryer. Please make more recipes for the air fryer. I'm going to start making my steaks like this.
Thanks for watching. Let me know how you like it.
thanks for watching! I will make more.
Thanks for making this video! I have an air fryer too and wondered about cooking frozen steaks in it. I have a tip if anyone's interested. I have a small round air fryer and I live alone and didn't want to have to wash the air fryer every day so I got a few 7 inch pan pizza pans and cook my meat in those pictures. So all I have to wash are those pans which I just put in the dishwasher. Watching this video I could see the use for the pizza pans in your oven, too.
Debra Dickinson this is like a grate basket so I really don’t have to wash it bc it is so hot. It doesn’t get dirty bc it is above the grease. I only wash it about once a month.
DId you put flour on it before you put the salt on? Or just the salt only? (it looks like it has flour on it)
She’s using a somewhat frost-laden frozen steak.
This looks so good have to try have the same airfryer please post more recipes ☺
Great video, Caitlin, thanks. What do you do in terms of clean up of those fryer parts, and how often to you have to clean the inside of that fryer? Okay I see you pretty much answered that in various comments below. I was also thinking there's no way I can cook steak on the stove in my place because of the same issue.
I have the same cuisinart! What do you use to clean your air fryer?
I don't, lol I just get a new one every few years
How often do you have to clean this air fryer / appliances?
I just dump the grease in the trash and keep going very minimal cleaning needed
Awesome! I love it Caitlin. Great work :) Very cool video
Thanks for the great tips!
Can’t wait to try this. Thank you.
I love mine and use it all the time but never with frozen steaks, I sure will give it a try....they only complaint I have is that it makes horribly crispy dry toasts, I bought another regular toaster.
Looks delicious! I’d be interested to know how many pounds you’ve lost and how long it took you.
Never thought of this. Thanks for the tip!
Just ordered one of these units and am looking for recipes and tips. I really enjoyed your video. Wondering if you put the stake back in on broil for a short time after cooking whether it would give you more of a sear? Thanks so much and stay well.
you could try that but it is pretty great just like this bc the outside gets crispy but the inside stays pink.
@@Thegrassfedgirl Thank you for the reply and the video.
Awesome! No excuses!
I was going today to get the Air fryer on sale at Canadian Tire, you have just confirmed the fact I should do so.😁
yes I love it!
Will try it for sure, thank you
Caitlin I’m trying to decide on an air fryer. Thank you for your demo. Does it cook good burgers?
ForgiveAndLove09 yes I like to use the broil feature for the burgers
Caitlin Weeks
Ok another question 🤗
Can you clean it fairly simple?
ForgiveAndLove09 just dump the grease tray in the trash. You don’t have to clean it often.
I like my George Foreman countertop grill. This looks convenient to be able to toss it in right out of the freezer though!
I used to use a George Foreman.Just whatever works for you. don't make it complicated.
Just bought one of these ovens this morning and now looking forward to cooking that steak. Don't tell anyone, but I need a baked potato, salad and a glass of cab too...
lol sounds like a perfect dinner
Could you season it before you freeze it?
I don't think it needs seasoning, just salt is what most carnivores like. But do whatever you want.
Yes I always season my meats before I freeze them
Wonderful! I have avoided steaks because I can’t cook a steak and get it tender, so I cook it to death in a crockpot in an effort to get it tender. I guess I need to take the leap and get an air fryer.
Deborah Allen yes get the one I recommend with the link below. You will love it
I need to try this. I ruined 2 ribeyes doing it in my Ninja AF. At the moment much prefer cooking it in a pan still
Such a shame. I am sure you will like this better
I have the same air fryer but you didn’t put it on 400, it was on warm at first, But I see it magically switched to 400 as you were talking lol
It’s called the magic of film lol
@@Thegrassfedgirl 😂😂😂
You are awesome! Thank you for the tip on this air fryer. I follow Grass Fed girl on Pinterest (Keto tips/recipes). Will you be posting Carnivore recipes on Pinterest? ☺️
I have a few on my blog, I will be posting more.
Trying this right now.
Hopefully it works.
Mmmm!!! Thank you! Trying this right now!
How do you get it tender? Mine was chewy.
Nice job on the video, very helpful!
t4Now so glad you liked it! Thanks so much
It looks good except for that very white fat in the center----can you put that (just the fat) back in the air fryer and caramelize it more?
Yes I like to have it very hot so I usually eat half then put it back
OMG thanks, what a great tip!
Hermit Lady Keto-carnish thanks for watching
Amazing!
So does the steak only turn out well if frozen?
I would use the broil setting if it is fresh/unthawed. air fryers make fresh steaks tough in my opinion.
Going to do this tonight
Patricia Dance I hope you like it
Doesn't meat have to be cooked to a certain temperature surely its dangerous. Is it cold in the middle?
yeah just cook it to your desired doneness. I like it medium. It will get there.
I just watched a video about that. It's safe for steak not for hamburger. The germs are on the outside of the meat. With hamburger, all those "outside" germs are all folded into the inside. Steak meat completely different.
Gotta try this
How do you not smoke up the whole kitchen?
Wow perfect
Thanks so much for watching
This method is probably good for meat with lean and even texture, like tenderloin or sirloin (meat part).
helpful video, was there any smoke with the air fryer?
Manny De Leon not if you dump the grease regularly
Just found this video but my steak isn’t frozen and i like them well done so here goes as i bung it in the air fryer🙏
I don’t recommend that it will be like shoe leather
@@Thegrassfedgirli don’t like them like shoe leather but i don’t want to see any blood either to turn my stomach 🤮
@@teresaspensley5640 cook it on cast iron or outside grill
Fave way to great cook a steak super easily.
How many minutes on each side if it’s not frozen?
I don’t Recommend that method. It will be like rubber. I use the broil function on the oven if it is unfrozen.
@@Thegrassfedgirl How many minutes on each side when using the Broil function?
It depends on how thick your steak is and how you like it cooked. If it is about 1 lb ribeye. Prob 6-8 minutes on each side. You can always put it back in. Also depends on which device you are using. You just have to experiment on your own.
@@Thegrassfedgirl Thank you very much!
thanks, I will try this!
The air fryer link is bad.
thank you!
Thanks for sharing!!
Zendefone1 thanks for watching!
Thank you
Thickness matters. I can't find anyone giving cook times according to thickness.
mine was very thick over 1 lb
Have you ever done thick pork chops in there?
M. D.D sorry I haven’t I am sure it would work in a similar way.
Could you cook 2 ribeyes at the same time in this? I’ve been wanting to try an air fryer 😊
Yes it will fit. If I am cooking for more that one person, I like to use my outside grill.
So to clarify...If cooking 2 steaks with this method that will fit the basket...Will you use same time and temp? I understand grill for more that one, but would prefer this method when weather doesn’t permit outside grill. Thanks!
Whats the temperature?
400F
Ribeyes 🤤
Cool
you sold me...
keep it up!
You forgot to preheat and yes you do
Mine doesn’t require that bc it is so small and very hot.
You said to set the temperature at 400 but you only had it at 325.
Go with what I said
😋😎
Me gustaría que tuviera traducción al español.
Wash all the ice off
I think that’s a good idea, or wrapping the meat double before freezing. With that frost, the surface is being steamed for a while. We like rare, so will try with minimal frost.
I have bad teeth and need meat very tender... how tender is yours?
Buddy Woodward if that is a concern then use a slow cooker or instant pot to make braised meat. You can eat eggs. Carnivore should strengthen your teeth over time.
@@Thegrassfedgirl ty so much for your fast reply, good advice ty
Where do you purchase your steaks? Do you buy them frozen? I just started following you:)
@@buddywoodward1994 vitamin k2, d, boron
I would give it a quick sear in a cast iron pan after the cook. You might need to see a chiropractor. I am not trying to be funny or nasty.
what makes you say that. I go to one thanks
@@Thegrassfedgirl so sorry. The way you were standing, it looks like you need an adjustment.
The reviews on amazon look concerning. The timer button breaks easily, heat is not accurate, burns etc.
I think I will pass on this product.
mine has been fine so far for 3 months. It is also the one Maria Emmerich uses FYI. If you get it as Costco you can return it if it breaks.
I have had mine several months and no issues. I use it everyday. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, let's hear these comments after a year cleaning the bloody thing. Just cook it the proper way in a skillet and wipe up a little fat spray at the end. These fryers are heavy on power and yet another countertop bit of clutter.
Mine is a toaster so it gets used everyday, I don’t have a microwave. I use glass containers to heat up leftovers in here. I am on my second one and I use it constantly. I agree that the canister kind are pretty useless
@@Thegrassfedgirl Well each to their own. Second one? A cast iron skillet would still be in service handed down from your Grandmas kitchen! 😉
@@auxiliary4023 I have many cast iron pans and a gas stove and natural gas grill. We are foodies and my husband is a chef so we have a little bit of everything. I definitely respect the traditional methods.
Answer to my prayers! I can’t stand all thegrease😮
lol yeah I grill outside a lot
That looks amazingly unappetizing. Sorry.
Hi guys or Hey guys at the beginning of any video now gets me annoyed from the start.

Less yapping more cooking.
