Sorry, curious, you had a bounced positioned above and from a bit behind. Was that just used as ambient fill? The positioning looked similar to your hair light. Perhaps it was to help fill out the backdrop more? Just curious, thanks as always!
Yea this is excellent work. Client would need bigger budgets for this tho, not a lot of events have this type of coinage. Lens kits, lighting, Venice and labour assuming around the $5-6K mark or so.
Great video, Zach! What is your process for creating consistent interview framing despite each subject being a different height or size? I've had trouble in the past deciding on whether to tilt the camera or change the level of the tripod to match the framing.
It looks like you guys introduced your own lights with the bounce above and the softbox above the camera to overpower the overhead lights. Using the softer lights to fill in any hard shadows from the lights in the building
Was a Venice not a bit overkill, fx6 or fx3 would have been sufficient for the a cam? the interviews look awesome though, great lighting set up and bg. id maybe have got some wider shots of the whole event space, it feels a touch tight all the time. it would be nice to cut between the close of hte kids in the interview and then to the wide of the event.
yeah! We had a bit more control and give here to ask for more. The founder trusted us and we wanted to come correct! Can't always have it your way unfortunately haha.
Greetings from South Africa! I've been a fan of the channel for over a year now and really appreciate the level of information you provide! I have a question on the part you mentioned on approaching rental houses to sponsor for a project. What is the best way to approach the potential sponsor and still allow both sides to have a win-win situation on a project? For example, would providing a way to promote the rental company help as I approach the company. I already have a very good relationship with a local rental company's owner, so I would really like to be able to have his company gain value from my project/s Thanks in Advance!
Appreciate it! Sometimes it's as easy as asking and pitching your concept. It's all a relationship game, so if you've been working with them for a while, letting them know you only have x budget, or no budget and the gear is free, they are just happy to get a tag on the socials. Future marketing for them as well. We don't usually say it, but we've been working with this rental house for quite some time, so they were open to it. They make money from us on other projects, so it balances out.
"our lighting kit was small" talking about this setup is like people posting "guetto meal today" with a picture of sushis and a starbucks. I've conducted interviews with just an Aputure MC and a 60w. THIS is a small package.
You’re incorrect. Small meaning their light kit had a physically smaller footprint in terms of number of lights used/kitted. What you’re referring to is cost. A “ghetto” meal of sushi and Starbucks is a small footprint by the number, 2 items, not by cost. Lol
I love the colorgrading & the variety of different shots! Such a huge inspiration once again!
Thanks appreciate you! Always trying new things.
Fire video bro 🔥💯
I really love how you think all of this technical aspect and how you stylize the video. Great work!!
Dropping so many gems here! Thank you 🙏
Awesome work! Truly inspiring

You guys are amazing. Thank you.
Thanks so much! appreciate you!
this us forsue an A1 how to video. appreciate the work you guys put out for the filmmaker community
Intentionality for the win! I find that my ability to reduce the footage down is secondary to m ability to communicate my vision BEFORE hand!

Yeah, we had changing lights to deal with, so we tried our best to balance everything out with the timing. You got it bang on!

@@mattbrown1139 we own the Venice, so why not. Just timing and using what we got! Recaps are always tough to balance! Appreciate the feedback tho
I've been trying to sell clients on "telling their story" for years... but they just want a highlight reel 😆they couldn't care less
