- Google Maps Timeline shows where you have been and how you got there. Timeline uses your Location History. In this video, I'll show you how to edit your Timeline anytime, delete one day, and delete your entire timeline. Good news! Your timeline is private, so only you can find it. Timeline is available on smartphones and your computer.

1) Open Google Maps.
2) Sign in with the same Google Account that you use on your mobile device.
3) At the top left, click Menu Menu.
4) Click Timeline.
5) To find another date, at the top, choose a day, month, and year.

I love using the timeline. I have been using it for 5 or 6 years, have been to 1472 places in 345 cities in 17 States. One interesting feature is the list of most visited places, you get a list of the top 30 places you most regularly visit. I drive for a living, delivering automotive parts so I enjoy the monthly Email showing how many miles I drive each month and how many cities I visited that month.
I've been using Timeline around a month and I enjoy it. I like having an accurate detail of places I've visited etc.
I love it also. It is a great feature.
Good stuff. I recently had a medical provider submit an insurance claim stating the time spent with me was 60-74 minutes. Using Google timeline I was able to show from start to finish the time spent at her address was 60 minutes. That's from when I arrived at the address to when I departed. There's no way the provider was with me that whole 60 minutes.
I became aware of google maps recently and I have been using it since then. My memory is not that good so it helps a lot to know when I was at a certain place. I was surprise to find out it has record of where I have been a few years back. Your video is very good and I have learn a few things. Thanks.

I recommend making a stop at your cellular providers store and asking an employee to help you review the rest of your permissions, so that you can be sure you aren't broadcasting your location to strangers

I have been using the timeline everyday religiously since february 2023, it is amazing how it tells, along with my diary, the story of my life and the places I've been precisely. I love it. Too bad it can't be used or edited on the pc anymore.
I used to be able to view everywhere I had been in a month on a computer. Each place would be a red dot. Is there anyway to view that on the smartphone, or is that gone? All my history has moved to my smartphone.
Hi Chris that was a cool video. I want to track down the route to spa yesterday and the reason why google map guided a more difficult route when I headed home. How can I ask google map to guide me the same route when I headed home as the route when I went to a place ? Also I can see you body on the right bottom corner and that’s cool
QUESTION FOR ANYONE. My fiancés timeline says he was at an apt complex for over 2hours when he was supposed to be at work. The icon was a grey square inside of a white circle. I know nothing of google maps so is that an actual stop icon?? He says he has no idea how that happened that his phone probably latched onto the apt complexs' wifi?? But wouldnt you still need that wifi pswrd??? The complex is almost a mile away from where he works and there are several other businesses between his job and that complex with wifi I'm sure. He works from 10pm to 10am... so, his is wifi explanation plausible and is that actually a stop icon?? When I looked at him at home the icon was a white square in a brown circle, connected to our home wifi. Thanks for any advice.

Excellent video on Google Maps Timeline, but I am stuck. My wife and I drove across the USA and back. Thanks to your video, I can produce a map of each day of our trip. I want to produce one map of the entire driving trip. Is there a way to use Google Maps Timeline to produce a single map of our 29 days driving throughout the USA?
I would also like to know if there is a way I can display either my entire timeline history, or a select range like a month, or select times like 6am to 10am mon-fri, specifically I would also like the line drawn on the map to get darker the more times I cross over it or travel the same route. Is there any third party app anyone has found, or is there a feature within Google maps to do this, or export data so it can be done in another app?
Is there a video on how accurate the timeline is and what the different color lines on map mean when it's off compared to on. Cuz there are differences and it is even accurate when location is off. It's how they find a lost phone too

It's not working like that for me when I try to see what days I visited somewhere. It's not giving me any kind of list of what days.
Cuz he is on his laptop u get different screens laptop tablet phone. K most info on laptop or computers
You need to make sure that you've had it enabled for those specific days. If you've just turned it on now, you will not be able to see that timeline from the past.
My timeline by default was set to delete every 18 months. I really need my timeline data from before it was auto deleted. Is there a way to recover it or request it from Google?
Hi Chris, I am a 28 year IT Services Professional, and I love Google Timeline. Just wished it would provide me the following: I just clicked All Time. It shows all the places I've visited. I now would like to do a search using an address, then see all of my dates from that location. But no Search Bar is available now. Any Suggestions?

I’ve been on doing google Maps time line since 2014 I have a bit over 66,000 red dots you can’t even see those city I live in there’s too many red dots lol I drive for a living. But the timeline only holds up to 7000 on the bottom left-hand corner. It goes over every once in a while, but not very much.

I looked, and I didn't see an option to view all the dates and times you visited one location. I only see the last time I visited.
It has happened often that I visited cities, even multiple times while GPS was on and still maps doesn't show them in my visited cities. Is there a set amount of time that you have to be there, or a geographical center you have to pass through?
Places I’ve visited don’t show that I’ve visited them so I guess my location history settings aren’t set right?

I want to ask question. Is the visited place in google timeline is accurate? Please answer as i found out that my husband visited a hotel for almost 7 hours. It is indicated as place visited of his google map timeline.
I searched, and there seem to be many people saying Google shows they were somewhere where they weren't.
how about the time?sometimes it shows how what hour he leaves the hotel and entered
Google location history is not always accurate , it puts you in places that you have never visited & omits to mention the places that you have visited .I can destroy trust if your partner decides to review your time line & destroy your relationship . Ive just read a google report of a young driver who escaped a parking fine because his location history did not show him as being on the car park , it in all probability omitted that location , how could they have got his reg number if he had not been on the car park , he had admitted driving near by . I was discussing time line while out with a friend & this young thug butted in to the conversation , his time line kept him out of jail for beating some one half to death , his history had put him at home , he had simply forgot to put his phone in his pocket !!! .
Apparently i regularly park my car in the middle of a lake in 12 feet of water & go in pubs in the early hours of the morning before their even open . Google is fine for navigation but does more harm than good as far as location history is concerned , its of little use anyway , if you cant remember where yo have been see a doctor
Me and my ex had the relationship issue around gps glitches bc she had cheated previously and it was showing her as in some shady parking lot a mile and a half away from her job instead of at work. Lesson learned, we then cut out the family sharing etc so that we could try to concentrate on rebuilding actual trust. Of course, the relationship was shot already b4 it was at that point, so yea. But I'll likely never use any GPS service/device to try to fix trust in a relationship again, it feels dirty for one, like why are you subjecting yourself to trying to love a person that you have to track to ensure they remain faithful.

I got an alert stating that I had to move my Timeline history to my smartphone and that Timeline is no longer supported on web browsers to be viewed on computers. Is there any chance that there will be an alternative to Google Timeline from some other company? I am sad about this and miss this feature on my computer.

@@austinthevhsvideogamelover5265 I looked for an easy alternative to Google Timeline that works on web browsers. What I found was too complicated. I would pay for a service that works like the old Google Timeline. I miss being able to see the red dots of everywhere I have been for certain years on a map that I can adjust. I can't find that on Timeline on my smartphone.
@ts214121 and since Location history changed to timeline IT TAKES FOREVER TO LOAD UP ON ANYTHING AND THE MILEAGE FOR DRIVING SAYS O FT and the Your itinerary for your road trips above places and more trips disappeared. This really sucks. There are a lot of people out there that loved using this feature since 2015 when it first launched. We will see what happens by December.

Thanks but I can't see "You visited this place at....." when I check the place in Google website. I know the exact date I was there, But it doesn't show it to me !! Not too surprising though, With all the stupid things that Google does, when they update they apps everytime !!

I was just looking for this myself and I found if I select the location in Google Maps on my Android phone and scroll down and find "Your Visits" it will show all the times you visited this site.

how do you share the routes with people?
You can share your location, but you can't share your timeline unless you did a screenshot and sent it to them.
